Background
Ronan has always shown a intense interest in hockey, since he was a young kid. His father played in hockey clubs before his passing, and he taught Ronan how to play hockey. As soon as Ronan could at age 5, his parents entered him into the nearby hockey youth club, Nottingham's Lions juniors. Ronan remained there until he graduated Sixth Form College.

Ronan was going to remain in the UK for college and to play hockey. However Eastwood University in Massachusetts' offered him a complete free athletic ride. He did accept, and moved to Massachusetts for college, where he has played as a Timberwolf for two years. He just recently got Captain, going into his third year of college. He has gone to the Olympics, during his second year of college, representing team Great Britain in hockey, where he became popular as one of the youngest players on the team. Team Great Britain did make it to the finals, and barely pulled off a win by a point, but it did skyrocket Ronan and the rest of the team into the spotlight.

Physical Appearance
Ronan stands at a decent 6'0 and weighs around 197 pounds and is considered quite lean and muscular. His build is quite athletic and well-proportioned. He has a solid frame, but is not too bulky. He is built for explosiveness and stamina mostly, with strong shoulders and chest. His forearms are also quite muscular for great grip strength, where he has also developed a powerful core stability for balance. His lower body is powerful, with decently muscular thighs and calves. He is right hair dominant, and can sort of do things with his left.

He has jet black hair that is in a low taper fade style. His hair is slightly curly, with it being short/smooth on the sides and fading near the ears and neck, while there are thick curls left a little longer near the top. He usually attempts to keep it somewhat neat for formal events, but for the most part it remains messy from his helmet and him running a hand through it. He has startling ice blue eyes that can be compared to the color of the winter sky just before snowfall. When he is angry or even trying to intimdate somebody, they are ice cold, a cutting blue like frozen steel. However, whenever he is being soft and happy, they are a gentler blue that brightens and even seems to thaw when he smiles.

Ronan sports an sun-warmed olive skin tone. Furthermore, he seems to be evenly tanned acros his whole body, probably from nude tanning. He most often likes to remain pretty much clean-shaven, however he does sport a very subtle hint of stubble. Like a faint shadow, just enough to add definition to his face. One of his most distinguishing features are his freckles and his dimple. His freckles are hard to see sometimes, and they usually only pop in the sunlight. They are a smattering of light freckles across his cheekbones, and there is a slight dimple in his right cheek when he gives a genuine smile.

He does have his fair of scars from hockey and childhood shenanigans. Such as a thin scar that starts on his jaw and stretches down towards his chin, it is not very long, and on his right side of his face. He also has a shoulder scar that bothers him more. It is a faint, pale, slightly puckered scar over his left shoulder from a previous hockey collision that nearly ended his career. It still twinges sometimes, especially if he overstretches himself. He also has a tattoo, just one, that is a medium size. It is located on his right upper chest, almost near his collarbone. It is phoenix wings that are partially extended with his father's initals just underneath the right wing.

Ronan is always seen wearing a silver necklace that sports a small silver cross on it, which is a family heirloom that he wears as memory to his father and good luck on the ice.

He has a couple of outfits that people can find him in. Such as his on ice appearance, which is one of his most common ones. When he is in uniform, he is in his standard hockey uniform. Which sports shoulder pads, elbow guards, hockey pants, shin guards, gloves, skates, and the jersey. He also has his helmet with the visor, which usually has a few of his curls peeking out from underneath. He often fidgets with his mouthguard a lot, so if he is not in action, it can be seen sticking out of his mouth as he chews on it.

Whenever he is in a casual fit, he prefers jeans and joggers. However he is typically in sports wear since he likes to work out, such as t-shirts or tank tops. However, whenever it gets chilly, he'll pop a hoodie (in neutral colors) on. His go-to shoes are typically sneakers.

Whenever he has a social/formal event to go to such as a social gathering for hockey, he can be found in a dark-colored tailored, slim-fit suit paired with dress shoes. He usually likes to leave the first few buttons of the white dress shirt unbuttoned, revealing a little bit of his chest. If he doesn't have to wear the suit jacket, he takes it off, and his sleeves are usualy rolled up to reveal his forearms. Then finally, he has what people call the gameday fit. Which is what he wears on gamedays before and after he gets into/out of the jersey. It is usually a nice top of some kind (like a button up) that sports the team's color and/or logo. He pairs them with nice jeans or athletic pants and a team hat, which he likes to wear backwards.
Voice
His voice is slightly deep, yet smooth with a tint of richness. He usually remains very calm and authoritative. It lightens when he is teasing or being playful, and gets deathly intimating when he gets angry. His accent is heavy enough to tell he’s from Great Britain, but not so much you cannot understand him. Short, crisp vowels, clear consonants, and a friendly Northern lilt

Personality
On an outward appearance, Ronan is always quite charismatic and composed. As Captain, he usually ends up in interviews, and he has mastered how to stay calm and collected during them. Although the paparazzi and media often try to rattle him during interviews or even public appearances, it is almost impossible to do. He is typically polished and professional, keeping his responses thoughtful and careful without opening up. He can be slightly playful and witty, as he knows how to entertain, amuse, and charm. The media considers him the ideal athlete, mostly humble and kind, but a little bit on the cocky side.

His team typically sees that same side of him that he shows the media. However, they do get a little bit more of Ronan's real personality. He is fiercely loyal to his team and even quite protective of them. While he is not the bestest of friends with everybody on his team, he gets along well enough with them. He still doesn't open up very much and there is only a couple of people on the team that can claim that they are close friends with Ronan. He kind of just likes to keep to himself if he can. However, he is a fantastic Captain. He encourages everybody on his team, makes sure that everybody is doing good. He can get a little stern and strict during practices and games, but always does his best to go back, slow down, and help if there was a mess up.

He does have a much more vulnerable side. He is undoubtly loyal to a fault and incredibly protective, going as far as even starting (or finishing) a fight on ice for his teammates. This more vulnerable side of him is much more playful and teasing and is more likely to be emotional open. Although he still struggles to open up, he'll express himself much better. His rare smiles become more common and much more genuine, and so does his laughter.

Furthermore he is a very resilient and persistent person. He isn't somebody who backs down easy, not even the career threatening injury he took to his shoulder. Ronan is also quite intelligent and a strategic, making him a quick thinker on the ice. He is also a very observant person on and off the ice, but that is because he is a quiet person, he just kind of watches. His instincts and reflexives are highly developed which is very beneifical for hockey.
Weaknesses/Flaws
Ronan is a terrible overthinker, especially when it comes to hockey, and even more so as Captain. He worries that he is not living up to the Captain role and wonders on a daily if he even deserves to be Captain. Furthermore, he has a bad habit of keeping things to him self and just bottle it up. It is hard for him to open up emotional. For example, he tells anybody who asks, that he is happy that his father is no longer in pain. However, in reality, his father's death crushed him, and he never properly/healthly dealt with it.

Anxiety is also a big flaw of his, as it leads to him getting incredibly antsy and even tempermental. His old injury bothers him more often than he likes to admit, and anytime the same situation (that led to the incident) starts to arise, it freaks him out and the anxiety can make him balk or freeze. Although it is brief and hard to see, sometimes it is just enough to mess with Ronan. Usually, he tries to cope by fidgeting, a lot, usually with his hands or his mouthguard. He also becomes much more tenser and aggressive on the ice. This also ties into his isolation, since he struggles opening up emotional, he just kind of isolates himself. If things start to get to much (if he can), he usually just isolates himself.

He also has a decently bad physical limitation, which is his old shoulder injury. It healed and he went to PT, but sometimes he can overextend it which causes a powerful flash of pain that causes him to miss shots or passes. Sometimes it is so bad, he can't move it.
Fears/Insecurities/Mental Health
Ronan is deeply afraid of losing people due to the unexpected passing of his father and the fact he rarely gets to see his mother anymore. So, he avoids the risk by avoiding emotional connections. He will make friends and be friendly and playful with his teammates, but he still keeps them at a certain distance.

He is also afraid of injuries and becoming unable to play hockey. Hockey is his life, he loves it so much. It was something that he and his father loved to do together, and he is good at it. It is the only thing he's ever been certain about, so he fears that one day he will become unable to play anymore.
Strengths
Ronan has incredible mental resilience. Even though he has all these fears, stress, and anxiety, he pushes himself past it as hard as he can. It is not a good coping method, but he handles pressure and criticism well, and it is incredibly hard to unnerve him. He deals with his stress and anxiety by pushing it as far back as he can, and giving it all he can.

He is a phenomenal strategic thinker with expectional awareness on and off the ice. This is one of his greatest strengths on the ice, along with making quick decisions on the ice for his team. He also has very good leadership skills and is an incredible motivator, and even though he is closed off, he knows the perfect things to say to help soothe, reassure, and motivate his teammates.

He also has an incredible build and physical skills. He was built to be a center, and he does it phenomenally. He also works hard to remain in shape, and he spends a lot of his free time on the ice to hone and build his skills. He knows there is always room to improve and continues to strive for growth.
Relationships
Connor Wycliffe
Father. Dead. He and Ronan were incredibly close, his father was the one who taught him to play hockey. The unexpected death of his father hit him hard.

Amelia Wycliffe
Mother. Alive. She and Ronan are incredibly close, and unfortunately they do not get to see each other very often. Typically once a year during the off-season. Making it harder on both of them whenever his father passed
Blake Austin
Best Friend. Alive. Blake is also a junior, and is not only Ronan's best friend but his teammate and lives with Ronan and Tucker in a nice three bed/three and a half bath townhouse about ten minutes away from campus. Blake, Ronan, and Tucker became close friends in camp before they even officially started college, and have been best friends ever since. Especially since they are all on the same line.
Tucker Callahan
Best Friend. Alive. Also a junior, Ronan's teammate and roommate (with Blake). Like Blake, he is quite close to Ronan. The three are never far from each other (maybe except for classes), and are a powerhouse when on the same line as each other.

Name:

Beau Rockwell

“Rocky”

Age:

21

Gender:

Male

Birthday:

October 11th

Sexuality:

Bisexual

Year:

Junior

Position:

Left Wing

Jersey Number:

#3

Appearance:

Beau stands at 6’1 in height, weighing just over 200 pounds. He has an athletic build, with wide shoulders and long legs. Extensive training and weightlifting has toned his muscles, although his body still holds softness in places.

His hair is a soft coffee brown, just long enough to get into his eyes and brush the tops of his ears without looking unkempt. It falls in loose curls that usually go wherever they please unless he actually takes time to style it (he doesn’t). His eyes are a deep hazel, a thick ring of green around the outside of his iris that fades into a deep brown near his pupil.

His skin is light, usually tanned during the summer from the time he spends outside. His left arm has a full sleeve of tattoos, mostly thanks to the one impulsive tattoo he got on his forearm as soon as he turned eighteen. It didn’t take him long to realize that he very much liked them, and then proceeded to fill his entire arm. He also has a tattoo on his back, between his shoulder blades. A snake coiled around a sword. It was one of his first tattoos, one that he had gotten before his frontal lobe was fully developed. Was it a little cheesy? Yes. Was it still mildly badass? Also yes. Beau prefers to keep his face completely devoid of a beard or mustache. Not because he can’t grow one, but because when he tries he wants to crawl out of his skin from how much it itches. He simply can’t stand the feeling of having hair on his face, so he avoids trying all together. The beard ages him anyway.

When he’s not on the ice or at some sort of social event, Beau can almost exclusively be found wearing whatever he swiped off the floor of his dormitory that morning. Somehow he swipes clothes from the floor and is able to turn it into a decent looking outfit. Usually it’s some loose fitting jeans and a t-shirt or a jacket, but somehow he still manages to look like he has style. Except he doesn’t. He just grabs whatever he thinks will look mostly presentable and throws it on with some hopes and prayers.

When Beau has to attend a formal event, he has to force himself into a suit. He hates every second of it, but he does it anyway. Usually as soon as the formalities are over, the tie is loosened and the jacket comes off. During some of the wilder events, the shirt comes off too. Usually if alcohol is involved. Some days he can’t be bothered to try with his wardrobe at all, opting for a sweatshirt and joggers.

Personality:

Beau is most well known as the hothead of the team. He’s not angry necessarily, he just feels his emotions…strongly. If you ask him, there is a difference. Beau has always felt every emotion deeply, even when he was a child. Every media encounter is a nightmare, since he speaks without a filter at all times. Lots have begun to wonder if he ever had one in the first place. He will tell you how it is, all the time. There’s not beating around the bush or sparing feelings with Beau.

His temper is both a strength and a weakness on the ice. His anger fuels him, pushes him to be better, move faster, think harder. It also results in lots of time in the penalty box. He is notorious for starting fights, and is even known for getting into arguments with his teammates occasionally. The media has lovingly dubbed him the bad boy of the team, the one who can’t seem to keep his actions or his mouth in line. He doesn’t necessarily mean too, but push comes to shove and before you know it, he’s punched someone.

Despite his quickness to anger, Beau is relatively mellow. He isn’t very fond of conversation with people he doesn’t know, another reason why he despises anything to do with the media. How could anyone enjoy being surrounded by strangers who are shouting at you and shoving microphones in your face? When he is with his teammates he keeps up with the conversation and jokes, but he doesn’t go out of his way to make himself noticed or heard. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said when alcohol is involved. That introduces a completely different side of Beau that he usually regrets the next day.

Beau is rather untrustworthy of people he doesn’t know or doesn’t know well, so being a friend of his is a rare thing. Sure, he gets along with everyone on his team (mostly), but few can actually call themselves his friends. Most of the team doesn’t know much about him, just that he’s easy to piss off and also always down for a good time. Media events? No way. But a party with his team? Who could resist?

If you get close enough to Beau and dig deep enough to get past his tough exterior, he really is a sweet guy. He just isn’t sure how to show it without the entire world laughing at him. He came to Eastwood with his entire personality locked in a box, and it didn’t take long for him to create a new one to disguise it. Now that he’s been here for three years, he isn’t sure how to actually be himself without looking fake.

Beau isn’t necessarily that sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to academics. But Eastwood wanted him for his hockey skills, not his academic excellence. He tries to keep up with his classes as best as he can, but he doesn’t excel by any means. Where his brain really thrives is on the ice. The strategy and anticipation needed feels right, he’s good at it. He might not have a 4.0 GPA, but he knows his way around the ice.

Backstory:

Beau was never extremely close with any of his family. Unlike many of the kids that go to Eastwood, he didn’t come from money. His family wasn’t poor, but they weren’t well off either. His parents were distant. The type of parents that probably hadn’t wanted children, but got them anyway. His father was almost always working, and when he was home, he felt more like a ghost. His mother tried, she really did. But with three kids to feed and a full time job to work, that didn’t leave much time for family bonding.

Beau was never attached to either of them. His older brother practically raised him and his younger sister, but the three of them usually argued more than they got along. The Rockwell house was quiet and tense, housing a disjointed family that didn’t seem like a family at all.

When Beau was seven, he discovered hockey. He learned quickly that he liked it. Learned even more quickly that he was good. After that, everything was about hockey. It was the one thing he had that truly belonged to him, the thing he could do to escape the quiet house. He loved it, even when his family never bothered to show up to a game, he loved it more than anything.

He set his sights on Eastwood when he was ten. Beau knew you only went to Eastwood if you were rich, or really good. He opted for really good. After that, hockey was his life. He ate, slept and breathed hockey. Beau trained constantly, rigorously, always aiming for the top, and when he reached it, he aimed higher. He got offers from many different colleges, but none of them mattered because they weren’t Eastwood. Finally, Eastwood offered him a scholarship. He cried when he read the letter, and by the time the next semester came around, he had moved into his dormitory. He found quickly that he didn’t miss his family.

Beau tried not to feel like he didn’t belong, but it was difficult sometimes. It was obvious many of the kids in attendance came from money, that their parents were sending weekly allowances straight to their bank accounts. Beau didn’t have that. While some of his teammates could afford going out for every meal, he often ate from the cafeteria so he didn’t have to spend any of the money he had saved from his job in high school. The first few months were hard, but once he made a few friends, it was easier to pretend that he belonged here, that he was one of them.

"Blake! Get your ass out here!"

Ronan barks, banging on Blake's door. Tucker is relaxing on the couch, "Dude's probably passed out." Ronan rolls his eyes, "I'm seconds away from leaving his ass." Turner muses, "It is an optional skate, a chance to meet the newbies." Ronan rolls his eyes, "I don't care, season starts in a month, it's not longer optional skate. I insist everybody goes." Tucker chuckles as he pulls his phone out, "Barge in, careful though, he might be naked."

Ronan rolls his eyes as he bangs on the door again, "Like we haven't seen each other butt ass naked in the locker rooms before. Blake Austin! Get your ass up now!" Finally they hear a response, sleepy and a little annoyed, "Shut. The. Hell. Up!" Ronan sighs and bangs on the door, "You got ten minutes to get dressed, we got practice!"

The door finally opens, and a half dressed Blake is standing there, glaring at his best friend. Ronan crosses his arms, "You know the rules. A month out from the season, optional skates are no longer optional." Blake groans, "Oh come on, Coach hasn't decreed that." Ronan raises an eyebrow, "But I have, and as Captain, it goes." Blake sighs, "Fine, five minutes." The door slams shut. Ronan rolls his eyes, amsued as he joins Tucker in the living room.

"Dude acts like he isn't used to getting up at 5AM for our workouts." Tucker muses, "It is Saturday, dude likes his sleep on Saturday." Ronan muses, "Only so he can stay up late to party." Five minutes later, Blake emerges in shorts and a Eastwood shirt. "Finally, took you long enough." Blake rolls his eyes, "Oh, calm down, Wycliffe."

Fifteen minutes later, the three are walking into the compound. Blake and Tucker are playfully insulting each other, Ronan occasionally piping in. The two are playfully shoving at each other by the time they walk into the locker. Over half of the team are already there, well at least the older ones, half in gear. There are shouts of greetings at the sight of their Captain, who gives a brief nod before heading over to his locker to get changed.

Tucker calls out, "Newbies here yet?" Landon Mercer, the senior and starter goalie, looks up. "Yeah, Whitty and the others have them skating suicides on the ice." Logan Prescott, their LW on line four, snickers, "Ugh, I remember doing that last year. I thought I was going to die." Tucker nudges him as he walks by, "Dramatic much, Prescott?"

Ronan emerges from the tunnel, he'd gotten dressed in record speed and headed to see how the rookies were doing. "Alright boys, kick it into high gear! Whitty's almost got the rooks warmed up." It doesn't take long for the rest of them to finish getting their gear on, and Ronan leads the team towards the tunnel. "How many freshman did we get?" Ronan looks over his shoulder towards Blake, "We got seven new rooks. One goalie, two defensemen, and four forwards. All extras still, but Whitty says they have great potential."

The rookies have met the rest of the team before, over summer camp. However, camp was too busy and grueling to really bond, and since school hit. Most everybody was too busy, and even with the mandatory twice a week practice and five day week training. However, now that the season was coming up, everybody would be spending a lot more time together.

Whitmore barks at the team as they file out, "What are you doing on my ice?" Weston Carlisle, the senior left wing, calls back to the coach. "Cap's got a sadistic streak a month out from season, Coach! Says no more optional skating, mandatory now!" Ronan rolls his eyes as the team hits the ice, circling the rink in warm up laps. "Hey! It's beneficial though!"

Whitmore rolls his eyes, "You better be getting your asses in gear then, don't distract my practice, and do not be goofing off!" The team calls back an amused yes sir. Whitmore was a hard ass and strict as hell, but he loved his team and he would do just about anything for them. He could get on his team's nerves, but they loved him to death and even called him Whitty to playfully get on his nerves.

Beau's alarm had rung three times already. Of course he knew he had to get to practice. He also knew it was technically optional, but he had been waiting for the season to start since it had ended, and he needed as much practice as he could get.
After the fourth alarm went off, he finally drug himself out of bed, still half asleep as he pulled on a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie. His hair stuck up in about fifty different directions, but he didn't bother fixing it.
Sebastian was still asleep, that much was obvious from the constant snoring coming from across the hall. Beau sighed as he opened his door and barged into Sebastian’s room, snatching the pillow from under his friend's head and smacked him with it.
“Get up, asshole. We have to be on the ice in thirty.”
Sebastian groaned, scrubbing a hand over his face, “Bro, it's an optional skate. I'm not going.”
Beau shrugged, walking for the door, “Suit yourself. You'll wish you would've when Wycliffe chews your ass for it.”
Sebastian groaned again, and Beau heard the sheets rustle when he got out of bed. He couldn't help but chuckle to himself as he grabbed a granola bar from the box on the table, his usual breakfast of choice.
Ten minutes later they were walking toward the rink, Sebastian still grumbling about having to get up.
“It's not even the actual season yet. I don't understand why Ronan gets so worked up about coming to the optional skates. They're optional for a reason.”
Beau shrugged again, not all that mad about it. He had missed the uniform practices with his team. “That's Ronan for you. The guy thinks he's the king of hockey, and the rest of us are the peasants.”
Sebastian chuckled as they walked into the locker room, a few of their other teammates already there. Beau nodded hello to Mason as he started changing into his gear.
He heard the exact moment when Ronan and his troop entered, when the entire locker room started shouting hellos to their esteemed captain. Beau rolled his eyes when he glanced at Sebastian, who chuckled.
Ronan shouted something about getting changed faster, typical for him, and before long the team was out on the ice.
Whitmore was already shouting at a crisp seven a.m., already running the rookies to death. Beau certainly didn't miss his freshman year.
He stuck close to Sebastian as they warmed up, occasionally glancing around when his teammates got rowdy and Coach yelled at them for it. The new freshmen looked like they were fighting for their lives already.
Sebastian skated up beside him, a smirk on his face, “Whitty is pissed this morning.” He observed.
Beau snorted, “When is he not? The freshies better toughen up or they're going to get their asses kicked. If Coach doesn't do it, then Wycliffe certainly will.”
Beau glanced at Ronan as he said it, keeping his face carefully neutral as he watched the center and the team captain. It was hard not to let him get on his nerves. He couldn't deny that Ronan was good. Really good. And he let everyone know it. The fans, the media, everyone was always raving about Ronan Wycliffe. Beau would be lying if he said that he wasn't jealous. It was impossible not to be. Beau knew one thing, by the end of this year, the media was going to be talking about him like they did Ronan. He wanted to be known for more than just how often he got into fights or said stupid shit to reporters. Beau could be just as good as Ronan. Better, even. He hadn't been playing hockey for eleven years just to live in someone else's shadow.

Ronan calls out to the team, "Split into your lines that we were in last season. We'll practice like that today, nothing crazy, just getting back into rhythm! I think Whitty will have temporary line assignments by this evening." Every season started with temporary line assignments, since they lost players every year to graduation, drop outs, or transfers and gained players to transfers and freshman. Since they were a month out, they needed to figure out more permanent lines before the more important games hit.

There were murmurs of agreement as everybody splits off, keeping to their side of the ice. Whitmore would have their head if they crossed onto his side and interrupted or disturbed his practice in anyway. Although, the seven freshman would probably appreciate the brief break. Whitmore was working them hard, but he did every year. Everybody on the team had suffered at the sadistic hands of Whitmore who thoughts suicides were warm ups. Blake, Ronan, and Tucker glide across the ice. "You remember those days?"

Tucker snorts, "Those days were barely two years ago." Blake grimaces, "I'm not even gonna lie, conditioning with Whitty my first year? I really debating dropping out. I thought I was going to die." Ronan glides over to the equipment, digging out a bag of pucks for everybody. "Everybody did, it's his favorite thing to do." Tucker helps Ronan haul the bag out, "Yeah, but he's even worse during tryouts." The trio exchange a grimace as they head back towards everybody with the bag of pucks.

Blake points out, "It's a good way to weed out the weaklings. It's why Eastwood is the top program in the nation for hockey." Ronan grunts in agreement, "Eastwood has a hell of a program. Whitty definitely knows what he's doing." Ronan dumps the bag out, picking out a random puck for the trio. "What do you guys want to start with?" Blake catches the puck as Ronan passes it to him, "Hm, Red Wing?" Ronan nods, "I'm down." Red Wing was a good drill that worked on puck protection for forwards in tight, defense pressed situations. Ronan offers, "I'll play D first, who wants to go first?"

Blake and Tucker exchange a glance, "You promise not to play rough?" Ronan frowns, "I don't." Blake snickers, "Ron, you forget to play just a hint nicer during practice. Remember last year when you gave a rook broken ribs?" Ronan grimaces, "Oh yeah, well... You play like you practice." Tucker snorts, "Gentle, Ron, gentle." Ronan holds his gloves up, "Okay, okay! I will." Ronan glides away, Blake following to give Tucker somebody to pass to. Tucker positions himself with the puck and at Ronan's signal, takes off down the half-wall fast.

Ronan and Blake come flying in aggressive and fast. Tucker makes it to the top of the half circle when Ronan closes in, trapping him by the net. But Tucker pivots suddenly, using the net to his aid and pushing Ronan away just enough for Tucker to fire a pass towards Blake. Ronan slams his stick down for an interception, but he's a milisecond to late and the puck goes skidding to Blake who catches it on his stick, "Nice!" Ronan comes around in a circle, "Keep working Red Wing?" Blake looks up, "We should pull in another line and some D-men, and a goalie, do a fake half ice scrimmage." Ronan perks up, "That would be fun."

He looks up, "Mercer, Volkov, Rourke, O'Connell, Beaumont, Rockwell, Bianchi, Vale! You guys wanna do a half ice scrimmage?" The trio glides across the ice, closer to the rest of the team who had been busy working drills, a little goofing off, and stick handling.

Ronan grins, "As long as we don't mess with Whitty's side, I'm sure he won't mind at all." Blake cuts in, "I wonder what Whitty would do if we did interrupt him." Bianchi looks up, "You're joking right?" The senior groans, "I remember, my freshman year, a senior interrupted. Ugh, Whitty had the guy skating suicides until he was puking, and then Whitty made the guy keep skating."

At Ronan’s instruction, Beau and Sebastian split up with Mason Rourke, one of Beau’s closer friends on the team and the resident party animal. Mason seemed to know everyone, and everyone seemed to know Mason. Usually Beau never got along with such outgoing people, but it was hard not to like Rourke. The three were in the middle of some drills, lax enough to hold a conversation without loosing what little focus they had.

“So,” Mason said in the middle of a pass to Sebastian, “you two coming to my place tonight? We’re having a little get-together with the team.”

Mason was almost always having parties or celebrations, since he lived in a apartment off campus, the entire team had pretty much decided that his place was home base. The perks of having rich parents, right?

Beau glanced at Sebastian, mulling over his answer. The semester had started a few weeks ago, but he was already up to his eyeballs in assignments. The logical thing to do would be to stay home and get some work done, but he couldn’t deny the appeal of a little hang out with the team before the season started up. The school year was just starting, he had next semester to be responsible.

“I’m down,” Beau replied, “Sebastian?”

His friend nodded, although he never needed much convincing to escape the dorms, “I’ll be there.”

“It’s just the rest of the team?” Beau asked.

Mason nodded, “Yeah. I didn’t invite any of the rookies, since we haven’t got a chance to know them yet. Kind of wanted a chill night with all of us before the newbies get thrown in.”

Sebastian opened his mouth like he was going to say something before the captain’s voice echoed across the ice. Beau barely refrained from rolling his eyes as he and the others skated over. Despite the interruption, he was excited for some scrimmaging.

He skated over just as they were talking about what kind of punishment Coach would have for them if they interrupted. The mere thought made him queasy. No one interrupted Whitmore for anything unless someone was bleeding, dying, or dead.

“I hope you guys aren’t serious. We haven’t even had one official practice yet, and I don’t have a death wish.” Beau chimed in, his tone light. The funny thing was that he wasn’t joking.

After the joke passed he spoke up again, itching to play some actual hockey, “What are the teams?”

(ugh, short post. Brain is sleep deprived and has forgotten how to write :,)

"I'm still mad at Whitty for moving me to second line."

Ronan, Tucker, and Austin are with the rest of the team stretching. The trio were off by themselves a little bit, out of earshot of the others as long as they keep their voices down. Ronan sighs as they move into the Frog Stretch. "Me too, I felt like we were an unstoppable powerhouse, I wonder why Whitty changed us."

Tucker leans over to poke Ronan, "Maybe because you don't play as nice as you should with everybody else?" Ronan whips a half glare at his best friend, "The hell do you mean? I'm.... nice." On the other side, Tucker snorts as he fully stretches into the right position. "Ronan, buddy, you're a hell of a player and a hell of a captain. But... unless you need to, your social skills suck."

Ronan's lips thin, "What? I'm not that bad?" Tucker muses, "When's the last time you went out with somebody from the team that wasn't me or Austin? Everybody is always hanging out, inviting people. Do you go?" Ronan mutters, "Maybe I'm busy or exhausted." Tucker and Austin exchange amused glances, but before anybody could say anything, Whitmore is barking across the ice.

"First line get your ass moving! Into warm up drills! Carlisle and Gallagher, fake opposing players, go!" Five minutes later, the five are flying across their side of the ice, shouts rising as they communicate.

"Tuck!"

Ronan barks as he fires the puck between the legs of Weston Carlisle (who was acting as an opposing player). They were warming up for their first game of the season. To the sadness of both Callahan and Ronan, first line got changed around. It used to be Ronan, Tucker and Austin.

However, sadly, Whitmore moved Austin to second line and moved Beau Rockwell up to first. Beau was a hell of a player, but Ronan and Rockwell could clash over a lot of things sometimes. But, maybe that's why Whitmore did it. Cohesion across the whole team was key, no matter what. Especially if somebody got injuried and the lines had to be adjusted.

He supposed they would see how well the line changes would go tonight. Practices have been going okay-ish. First line wasn't clicking as well as they should be, but they were still a powerhouse.

Tucker snags the puck and takes off, head swiveling around for Rockwell to pass the puck to. Ronan shouts, "Behind!" A warning that Finnley Gallagher (the other mock opposing player) was coming up fast behind Tucker.

Beau had been wide awake since five that morning. He never slept well the night before a game, especially not before the first game of the season.

He was stretching with Sebastian, blood already racing with adrenaline. Of course he was excited, but he was also nervous. Not that he would ever admit that to anyone. This was the first game of his junior year. The press would be watching the team’s every move, and on top of that, Whitmore had switched up the lines, putting him with Ronan and Tucker and switching Austin to second line. Beau wasn’t necessarily mad about it, but he was certainly less than thrilled. He enjoyed being on the same line with Sebastian, and even if he understood the coach’s reasons for switching the lines, he was not looking forward to being on the same line as Wycliffe. Tucker wasn’t any better, since it was pretty obvious how close the two were to each other.

Sebastian spoke up then, “Ready for this?”

Beau looked up at his friend, stretching out his calves, “Yeah. Just have to hope that Whitty's line changes don't fuck up the entire game.”

“I think it'll be fine. Practices have been going okay. You and Ronan just need to learn to…work together.” Sebastian said carefully.

“Tell that to the captain. I've been working my ass off, he's the one that doesn't want to share.” Beau argued.

Sebastian gave him a warning look, “Save the anger for the ice, Rocky. We definitely won’t win if you and Wycliffe are at each other’s throats the whole time.”

Beau rolled his eyes, knowing that Sebastian was right but not wanting to admit it, “Yeah, I know. I’m not going to start anything. Not with Ronan at least.”

“Just don’t get too carried away. Whitty will loose his shit if you start a fight during the first game.” Sebastian warned.

Soon after, Whitmore calls for Beau’s line to start warm up drills. He rolls his shoulders as he skates over, trying to dispel the last of his nervous energy before the game.

Beau skated to the right of Tucker, watching as Gallagher raced up behind him. Tucker fired the puck at Beau at the last second, barely missing Gallagher’s stick. The puck skidded across the ice, and Beau had to surge forward to attempt to grab it. The puck slid past the end of his stick, barely missing it. In the blink of an eye, Carlisle had intercepted the puck. A rookie mistake. The types of mistakes he couldn’t afford to make this year, or at all.

He tried to block out Whitmore’s booming voice as he scolded Beau for the missed pass, still trying to get his head in the game when they go back to the bench. The game was minutes away from starting, and suddenly Beau felt very unprepared.
