"Touch me again and I'll cut your head off."

| Appearence |
Sunniva stands at 5'2, shorter than her younger sister and older brother. She has a beige complexion with warm undertones, having it only get darker with how much she is outside. She has noticeable freckles on her face that are somewhat heavy, though it learns more towards the medium side of the spectrum. They litter her body on the lighter side, which she is fine with since she feels like she would look odd had they litter her body rather heavily. Just like her skin tone, they get darker the more they are exposed to the sunlight. She has round eyes that definitely pop out against her darker complexion. They are the color of the forest with a ring of gold around them. They are framed with dark long, curled lashes.

Her hair is rather thick, having her always pull it off her neck when it is scorching outside. Her hair is as dark as midnight. It cascades down her back in loose beach waves, having it stop mid-back. She usually has it off in a side braid or even even a ponytail, depending on the weather as well as her mood. She usually has two strands frame her face that is curled in a way. When it is cooler out, she usually has it down and pulled over her shoulder. Most of the time she runs her fingers through her hair to get the knots out as she isn't one to use necessities to try and get them out.

Her cheekbones are chiseled in a way with a heart-shaped face. Her physique is rather petite, yet she definitely has the muscle there. She constantly practices her swordsmanship and hand-to-hand combat. She has a button nose and semi-full reddish lips that compliment her rather well. She has noticeable dimples on her cheeks when she smiles. Even when her lips are in a grim line the dimples are still there. She hates them in a way when she is being tough since they seem to make her features softer. Though, she will admit that she occasionally pokes her fingers in her dimples when she is looking in the mirror and is by herself. She won't admit that to anyone though. She has perfectly shaped eyebrows.

She does have piercings believe it or not. She has two silver hoops on both of her earlobes and then two more in the cartilage of her left ear. Like anyone out there, she has scars. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Most of them are rather small that litter her body, though most are on her hands from always punching things when she was younger among other things as well. She wouldn't be able to begin to describe how she got them. She has one that runs along her jaw on her right side, which she tends to avoid touching as it brings back bad memories.

Her clothing is usually the same regardless of where she goes. The colors just change, if that makes sense. She usually wears a pair of black pants, a colored -mostly white or red- off the shoulder long-sleeve shirt, and a pair of knee-high boots. If she is on a mission, she will have a black cloak around her frame. Her clothing is usually light since she isn't one who likes to get overheated. The only time she ever wears a skirt let alone a dress is if, for some reason, she is attending something that is rather formal.

"I don't exactly listen pricks. Can't you tell?"

Name

Killian Thorne

Age

24 years

Gender

Male

Appearance

Adrian stands at 5'10" and has a light build. His hair looks like grass sprouting out of the top of his head. It is short enough that his hair sticks straight up. He has dark brown hair. He has light skin and lots of knife cuts on his arms, evidence of his lifestyle. He has an oval shaped face and freckles are across his nose and cheeks. He has green eyes.

Personality

He is often seen with a friendly expression on his face whether it be a smirk or a smile. He says everything sarcastically or in a joking tone and it is hard to take him seriously although you have to take everything he says slightly serious because he could actually be not joking. He is able to make you know when he is not lying. Particularly, when he is threatening you or he has been hired for a job. While he may talk about his job lightly, it is one of the few things that he takes seriously. He does have enough self-preservation where he will not accept a job where he thinks he will die, but he also has a high opinion of his skills and is willing to take high risks.

Peering through the leaves of the bush he was lying underneath, he could partially see the sun hovering just above the stone walls of the small castle and the beginnings of a pink streaked sky. The air was cooling as different bugs took a bite out of Killian. Rustling the bush could draw unwanted attention, so he willed himself to not scratch although there was not much else to focus on.

The tranquil moment and intense boredom urged him that it was safe to sing a ditty, however, he opted for less disruptive options. He slowly turned his head toward his companion, who was laying belly on the ground by his side. Raven had been content to exist together in comfortable silence. He awarded her with his signature expression, a self satisfied smug smirk, broadly pasted across his face. Some might brace themselves for flirtation attempts or a sleazy proposition.

“I don’t think you’re ready for this mission,” he locked eyes with her and remarked deliberately loud enough to attract someone who could be walking on the trail nearby. “You’ve been laying there all silent. I think you’re too nervous. You’re going to mess it up—probably gasp at some crucial moment and give us both away. Hmmm, it’s a good time to make a mental note—we should not be hiding together after this.”

He let his words marinate in her mind before another thought popped into his mind. Killian was not above interrupting her mid-explosion. He crabbed sideways, so that he could lean close enough to breath a light, irritating whisper against her neck.

“Do you know why I am the guild’s number one assassin? Because I can be called Lil’ Prickle and still be more feared than any edgy sod out there.” He nodded his head knowingly. “What kind of name is Raven? Does it have some great sentimental tie because it’s not as tough sounding as you think it is? It makes you scream ‘I want to be taken seriously and no one respects me.’” He determinedly mowed over any attempts she might have made to interject.

“You shouldn’t take yourself so seriously, because people only take you seriously if you are worth taking seriously. People take you the most seriously when you are so worth taking seriously that you don’t have to take yourself seriously because everyone knows you are worth taking seriously.”

This time he kept an eye on her. People had a tendency to want to slap Killian. He waited to see what Raven would say and let her finish because he figured it would kill time nicely. It was dusk before he asked, “Are you ready?”

Sunniva laid on her abdomen on the forest ground, her gaze not straying from the castle sitting in front of her. The sky was slowly starting to streak pink, indicating that dusk was not that far away. She loved this time of day and hopes that tonight goes well without any issue. Some misquotes buzzed by her ear, her hand quickly yet silently flicking them away. She didn't want to draw much attention to the hiding spot in case there was someone on the trail nearby.

She let a small sigh leave her lips as she heard a small movement come from behind her. Her companion laid behind her, waiting until the cover of night to do their mission. She would've preferred to have done this by herself, but the leader of the assassian's guild , Alastair, decided otherwise. Apparently, she doesn't work well with others, especially with the prick that is laying behind her. He thought that pairing her with Lil' Prickle, stupidest name ever if you ask her, would help them get along with each other. She can already tell it won't go well, but she has to listen to their leader regardless.

After she made sure nothing was happening, she turned her head towards him. She narrowed her eyes at him with the smirk he had on his face and the comment of her not being ready for this mission. He was loud about it too, but luckily no one was nearby to hear him. She was more than ready for this mission. She has done many missions just like this in the pass without an issue. Him making the comment about her not being ready made her want to shove a stick up his ass. She gave him a bored look when he said that she was nervous, which was so far from it. Her messing something up would not happen and she never has. He's being so dramatic.

She turned her gaze back up to the castle in front of her, trying to ignore him the best she could. "If anyone isn't ready for this mission, it would be you." She muttered as her gaze flickered along the castle walls. She noticed that some of the laterns were starting to get lit. "You always seem to act like a child and are so careless that one day you are going to get hurt because of it. And excellent idea about not hiding together after this. I didn't even want to do it anyways, but Alastair said otherwise."

She heard him shift, indicating that he was most likely coming over to her to bother her. She gathered up all of her smart-ass remarks and put a leash on them, not wanting to give him the satisfaction that he is getting on her nerves. She tensed at his breath brushing against her neck as he spoke. It was more because he was in her bubble and she is uncomfortable when people she loathes are in her personal space. If he wasn't her partner in this mission, he would already have a knife in his throat.

She groaned at his words, already tiring of him and his jabs. She just let him ramble as she listened, waiting for him to finally finish. She knows that if she tried to talk, he would only talk on top of her and wouldn't let her get a word in. When he finally paused, she gathered her thoughts, her mind running a million miles per minute. She really wished she was able to do this mission by herself as she likes the peace and quite that she gets.

"Funny how you think you are the number one assassian." She remarked as she shifted her gaze back to him. "Your name doesn't invoke fear. It rather makes you the laughing stock with the name of Lil' Prickle. I find it rather an... airheaded type of name." She was going to use a different term, but she didn't really want to jab him inbetween the ribs with such a brutural termonology.

"A raven was the first thing I saw when I woke up on a riverbed without any memories of what happened to me prior to that moment. I would change it now if I could, but no use now since everyone knows it." She said as she shrugged, not bothered too much with what he said about it. "That was a bunch of word vomit about being taking seriously or whatever you just said. I'm just going to prentend I understood it."

She stood up when he ask if she was ready. She brushed the dirt and leaves off of her clothes, a lethal grin spreading across her face. "If you are." She said with a wink as she started to stalk towards the castle.

He clambered out from underneath the bush and headed toward the path where he stretched his limbs for a few moments. He was dressed simply in an off white long sleeve shirt and brown trousers. His outfit was mussed and there was a good amount of dirt that needed brushing off. His eyes darted around checking for witnesses to their strange departure. “The gates should be closing soon for the night. Either we climb over the really tall wall or we get them to let us in. But I don’t fancy being tuckered out when they come chasing us after they find out what we did, but then you wouldn’t want to be identified as the culprit for the death, but it’s dark so how easily are they going to see our faces,” he chattered his reasoning out loud.

He went silent after he was done stretching and he quietly traversed the remaining path towards the castle, keeping his course until he reached the main gate. “Hello, my name is John. I know it’s getting late, but my trek to get to this castle took longer than I was expecting. I would be most grateful if you let me in for the night. I was hoping to have a safe place to lay my head down for the night, and I don’t know the area well enough to know if bandits frequent these woods. No offense. I am sure your lord patrols the area quite well,” he held his hands open and kept his voice soft and trustworthy.

“Come on over to the gatehouse,” the guard sighed, “Edward will search you for weapons or you can identify what you have. You’ll just have to stay in the courtyard. You won’t be getting a place inside this late at night while we’re closing up the gate.”

“Thank you so much sir! You are very gracious.” He dipped his head politely as he moved over to let Edward search him. “Sir, the other guard suggested that I identify what I have on my person. I do have several blades on me for protection and practicality of course, but nothing dramatic like a sword.” He was not surprised when Edward did not even search him as he appeared as he should. A man would be expected to carry at least one knife or dagger; he fulfilled their expectations as he had admitted to carrying a few blades, and some of the sheaths were visible. His clothing looked too simple to be a smuggler, and these guards were not concerned by random strangers as a castle received many unusual visitors.

He ambled into the courtyard and began to go see if he could find Raven however she had managed to get into the castle. He noted a lighter form on the wall, who he assumed to be her instead of a guard. He began to saunter on up to the rampart knowing that looking casual would draw less attention than furtive sneaky movements. “See my way works,” he pointed out once he was close enough to speak to her in a normal tone.“No need for sneaking and climbing up the wall. That seems like a lot of work. I hope you aren’t too tired, because it’d be a lot easier for me to finish my job if you didn’t get caught.” He flippantly shook his hand in a lazy wave as he headed in the direction of the courtyard.

Once on the ground, he hurried over to a nearby guard who was playing cards with other guards. “I think I just saw an intruder on the ramparts. I thought you might want to know about that. She was sneaking and she had a big blade in hand.” He took a quick peek at his cards. “You’re better off catching this woman. Your cards suck,” he deliberately ruined the game so that they’d be more inclined to get up and do their jobs. As the guards scrambled to their feet, he felt eyes on the back of his head. “There she is,” he pointed once he sighted her.

“You better fly Raven,” he whispered as he waved to her while ducking into a hallway heading in the direction of the nobleman they were hunting. If she was as good as she claimed to be, she would be fine.

Sunniva couldn't help but roll her eyes at him. He wasn't completely wrong about scaling the walls, but she prefers doing this. She rather get in and out as quickly as possible than having to figure out what to say to people. That wasn't quite her expertise anyways. She had a hard time interacting with other people, not knowing how they will react afterwards. She also doesn't have the patience for people and their stupidity. She sometimes wonder if they decide they act like they're oblivious to get on her last nerves. Then they wonder why she gets so pissed off at them.

Once she saw him make his way towards the front gate and start talking to the guards, she scaled the walls with ease. She glanced over the edge to make sure there weren't guards left or right before she slipped into the shadows. She noticed a guard coming to do his regular rounds, a small latern in his hand to light the way. She stayed quiet, her breath rather shallow and her chest barely moving. Once he was close enough, she struck as quick as a viper and lodged a knife in his throat while she covered his mouth with her other hand. She gently dragged him behind a stack of crates to prevent another guard from finding him while they did their work.

She didn't encounter any other issues as she made her way towards the castle. She kept an eye on Prickle as he made his way to the gate. She stopped where she was when she noticed that he was sauntering up to her rather casually. Seems like he is doing this to just quickly jab at her before continuing on their mission.

She rolled her eyes at him, her arms crossing over her chest. "Your way works for you and my way works for me. Conversation is not my strong suit." She whispered at him as she kept her eyes on the guards in the courtyard. She opened her mouth to ask what he was talking about when he commented that he hopes she isn't too tired. He was already walking away before she could. She has a bad feeling what he means by that.

She glared at him when he went to the guards, telling them that she was sneaking in. That mother trucker. She definitely is going to be getting him back later for this. Yes, she can handle this, but she wishes that he would've talked to her about this before he decided to act on his own. This is exactly why she doesn't like working with anyone, espically him. One reason is he is arrogant and the other is that he gets on her last nerves. She tries to get along with him, but he makes it so difficult for her to do so. He likes to poke every little button she has until she is close to combusting.

"Twat waffle!" She yelled over her shoulder at him as she started to run away from the guards. Like she said, he is going to pay for this later.

She ran into the castle making her way around hallways here and there to confuse the guards. She wanted them to loose her trail so she could continue on with her job. She decided that she would go back to the courtyard, knowing that it will be the last place that they will look for her. They wouldn't think that she would return to the place that she was found, thinking that she would try to hide somewhere in the castle. She knows that there is still a possibility of someone being there, but she highly doubts it.

She slowed down when she finally reached the courtyard, sticking to the shadows. She listened to her surroundings, her gaze flickering all around to check for any movement. Only when she didn't hear, see, or sense anything did she let a breath out that she didn't know she was holding. She glared up at the castle, hoping that he will get the job done and that he doesn't run into any issues. Maybe he will die, which she would be fine with. She hates that he is the one doing this since he ended up blowing her cover, but it is what it is.

She decided since she had to wait until he is done, she will walk around a bit. She will, of course, be careful. She just wants to make sure that the guards are more occupied with her than finding out what Prickle is up to. She made her way slowly to the entrance of the castle, hearing the guards yelling about wondering where she is. Seems they are irritated that they can't find her. She couldn't help but laugh quietly at that. That was short lived.

The next thing she knew, she heard a whizzing of an arrow slicing through the crisp night sky. She barely had enough time to move before it lodged into the left side of her ribs. She hissed as an ungodly amount of pain surged through her body. She quickly glanced around, seeing an archer on top of the wall. They were not there earlier and she was careful to not be seen. She has never made a mistake before and she knows this is going to eat her alive for as long as she lives.

She quickly ducked behind a stack of crates as another arrow came barreling at her. She must've missed them or they came to do the job they are doing and is pissed off they didn't get here first before them. She groaned slightly at the pain, her gaze glancing down at the arrow in her ribs. She broke off the shaft, leaving the arrowhead lodged so she wouldn't bleed out. Though, she had a feeling it might have hit something else as she is starting to feel dizzy and slightly short of breath.

She hopes that Prickle is almost done because she is going to have to leave before she passes out. She glanced out from behind the crates, not seeing the archer. She will have to be careful as she escapes. She is also going to go through the entrance, knowing that it will be a risky move. There weren't guards there at this time though since they were busy trying to find her in the castle walls.

She ran towards the entrance, her hand covering her side. She could feel the blood leaking through her fingers, knowing there might be drops of blood here and there on the ground. She slipped through the entrance, glad that she didn't encoutner the archer again and began running once again. She soon veered off the road and into the woods, runing further and further into them to get away from anyone that could be following her.

It felt like forever before she finally made it to a creek. She collapsed to the ground on her knees, her chest heaving up and down faster than she like. She glanced down at her side again, her hand moving away from the wound. Blood heavily coated her hand, her throat tightening at the sight of it. She would usually be fine with such things, but considering she didn't think that this would happen, she is slightly panicking. She wasn't ready to die yet, especially since she wanted to figure out what happened in her past that she couldn't remember.

Before long, her body gave up on her and she slipped into unconsciousness, her body hitting the forest floor. Maybe she is dying today afterall.

Her way worked for her, huh? How would she handle it if he forced his way onto her? Would she consider the way he used her as a distraction a betrayal or would she just be a normal level of angry and vengeful that he was being inconsiderate? Of course she would consider him an untrustworthy menace but most people didn’t consider him malicious. I mean, it was true that he didn’t intentionally harm his partners, but nobody described him as cautious.

He smirked to himself as he heard her yell twat waffle. Fair enough, but now, it was time to focus. He quickly forgot her anger as he focused on the next step in his plan. He made his way toward the nobleman’s quarters and quickly disposed of the remaining handful of guards with a quick chatty conversation and even quicker knife work. He strode in and found the nobleman pacing in front of his bed. He froze studying Killian and started to plead, when he realized who Killian was by the bloody knife in his hand. Killian used the time the nobleman spent begging to study the room for other possible occupants and the easiest way to escape. The nobleman didn’t have time to run, because Killian finished the job quickly. He hurried back out the way he came and listened for any commotion following Raven. It didn’t seem like they had come back this way. He slipped out of the nearest gate and headed toward the rendezvous point.

He looked back at the castle once he was a safe-ish distance away and realized that there was a lot of commotion at the main gate. Was Raven still inside? He had a feeling that if she had managed to escape the guards, she would be lying in wait somewhere ready to kill him for the stunt he had pulled. But it worked! Perhaps if he told her that the mission was complete she would still be willing to work with him in the future if they were assigned to work together again. Her sacrifice had not been in vain. He really hoped that the assassin’s guild never put out a bounty on his head. He could only imagine the line of people who would be excited to hunt him down for free. His only hope to escape would be if they fought over who got the pleasure of dealing with him.

Anyway, he shook his head to help him redirect his thoughts, the people inside weren’t sure that the intruders had escaped yet, so he needed to go make sure she hadn’t gotten captured or injured. He had walked this road too many times for one day, he thought as he headed back the way he had come from. He got really sneaky the closer he was to the castle. Soon, he was peering up at the top of the castle walls from near the main gate. Was he going to have to break back in and look for her? He searched for clues and realized he saw blood heading down the road. He followed for a bit assuming that there was no one else intruding in the castle the way they had. The trail veered off into the woods, and he followed.

Oops. He hadn’t meant to get Raven hurt.

He moved quicker now that he was fairly certain that his partner was out there. He almost tripped over her fallen body, when he found her. He nervously chewed on the inside of his cheek, as he bent down to check for life. She was a little pale, and the fact that he had been able to track her by the blood sprinkled here and there did seem to indicate that she had lost a lot of it. “Um…Raven, you in there?” He carefully rolled her over as there was no wound on the back. A million dollar question was if she was such a great assassin how did she manage to get herself shot. Perhaps he would ask her if he managed to keep her alive, or perhaps he would finally filter one of his thoughts. He hadn’t decided yet, but he supposed he needed to focus.

Unlike limbs he couldn’t apply a tourniquet to her torso. He really didn’t like the idea of taking off his shirt to tie around her torso, but he didn’t really have anything else he could use as a bandage that he could secure to her torso. Would she make it if he carried her or did he have to bandage it now? Think, Thorne, think. They had a friend that they had considered staying at if they needed to lay low. Friend was a loose word, but he was willing to give them shelter. He just had to get her there. If he didn’t bandage her, the easiest ways to carry her could jostle the arrowhead deeper into the wound, but he also didn’t think he should take it out yet.

Perhaps he needed to pay more attention to the classes on how to care for wounds with minimal resources that the guild sometimes gave. He just figured at this point he needed to hurry. The wound wasn’t that deep, so perhaps it was more shock and less blood loss. Eventually, he settled on carrying her draped over one shoulder and hurried in the direction of the safe house. With her wound touching his shirt, it didn’t drip blood leaving a trail on the ground.

When he arrived, Ace rushed out of the house and helped him inside. Ace got to work gathering bandages and a sewing kit. With minimal help from Killian, Ace soon had the wound stitched, cleanly bandaged, and no longer dripping blood.

“Thorne,” Ace often refused to call him the Lil’ Prickle because he thought it was stupid, “considering bandaging a person’s wound before you move them. It would really help them heal and sometimes it’s necessary to preserve their life,” he rolled his eyes. “Were you followed? Will you be followed?”

“Um…I was thinking I shouldn’t be around when she becomes conscious. I may have said something that resulted in her being chased around the castle, so I think it would be best if I go and lay a trail so that they don’t even think to look around because they are chasing me. I think we at least have 24 hours before being followed. I tried to not leave a blazing trail, but I am sure they could follow it.”

Killian had tromped through a few creeks to try to lose a dog, but he didn't have time to really do the job right.

“Thorne, you need to be more thoughtful. No one wants to work with someone who gets them injured. Surely, even you can understand that?”
“Ye ye ye,” Killian waved a hand dismissively.

“Anyway,” Ace rolled his eyes realizing that lecturing was getting him nowhere, “What happened? What heat should I be expecting?”

“We went to do a job at the castle. Actually, I’m not sure why they thought it needed two assassins. Surely one of us would be enough. Anyway, the job has been accomplished, and I am sure the noble family will be out for blood.”

“Great. Why do I let you stay here?” Ace joked.

“Because one day you may need the same favor?” Killian offered.

“I have a pack ready to go. You can have it. I’ll set up a new one for me and Raven. Are you spending the night or are you going to get going?”

Killian liked the idea of sleeping in a safe, comfortable place, but he didn’t like the idea of facing Raven. “I better get going. Thank you so much!” He glanced at her. “Please take care of her. I really didn’t mean for her to get hurt.” Soon, he was gone.
