Ilithyia

Fire Dragon | Female | Squad Leader's Dragon | Mentions: (directly) Nico, Kaia. (indirectly) Laika, K'issuk, Beollan

Ilithyia nodded in agreement to his observation before pausing at his challenge. An “Are you kidding me” look plastered on her face. Nico would pull that card because she couldn’t resist a challenge and he knew that. She met her companion's challenging smile with a smug expression of her own. "Perhaps I will," she replied through their bond, partially to prove to Nico that this dragon didn’t bother her but part of her was very curious about this dragon.

Ilithiya’s smug expression shifted when Nico brought up the students in the valley, “I am quite surprised no one has bonded yet,” as she spoke, a Storm dragon barrelled his way through the crowd of terrified students, causing them to scream in fear. He swiftly seized a girl from a small group by a rock. Within moments, Ilithiya blinked in astonishment as an Earth dragon followed suit, plucking another boy from the same group. The remaining two students were claimed by an eyeless Dark dragon and a stunning Light dragon. An approving rumble came from within the back of her throat as she watched the bonding process.

She shifted her weight, her wings rustling as she stared at Nico, empathy clear in her eyes as he reasoned why Anatolious wasn't here. Nico's concern for his half-brother was understandable. Ilithiya tried to think of any reason why Anatolious would be without Desmodus, but she couldn't offer anything. The conversation shifted away from Anatolious to the absence of Lara. Ilithiya didn't like the random absence of two people close to her and her rider.

It was possible Lara and Brordis were sent on a mission. She couldn’t help but agree with Kaia, they should've been notified of their absence, especially for missing something as important as today. Ilithiya's thoughts were preoccupied with concern for Lara and Brordis, considering all the possible scenarios. What kind of mission could be so secretive that it required such a clandestine departure? And why hadn't Lara or Brordis informed them or left a message?

A loud roar jolted Ilithyia into full alertness, and she swiftly rose to her feet. Her eyes fixed on the monstrous fire dragon landing in the valley – Beollan. Confusion and concern crossed her face as she gave Nico a worried look. His presence here couldn't possibly be for a new rider, could it? She barely registered Kaia's rambling, her attention fully on Beollan and the young woman who approached him. Before she could voice her concerns to Nico, her worst fears were realized as Beollan unleashed a devastating blast upon the woman.

Panic, screams, and chaos erupted in the aftermath of the explosion. Ilithyia roared in disapproval and horror, her scales igniting as she released flames. Yet, before she could react further or issue any instructions, Kaia and K'issuk were already in action. She watched in torment as K'issuk drenched the flames, saving the young woman's life. Kaia cradled the injured woman, who appeared to be bruised and suffering from burns.

Ilithyia's anger blazed as her hiss filled the air, her tail continuing to thrash with fury, and flames still crackling on her scales. "How dare he!" she seethed, her resentment unmistakable as she fixed her cold gaze on Beollan. She knew Beollan must still be grieving his previous rider but, the recklessness of his actions had nearly cost the young student her life. As she tried to calm her flaming scales, Ilithyia found herself trying to put herself in Beollan's position. She couldn't even fathom the thought of losing Nico, let alone having to rebond with another dragon. The bond between a rider and their dragon was a profound and unbreakable connection. Most riders don't come back from the loss of a dragon. Some dragons survive it, while others don't. Beollan was thought to have been lost since he never returned.

Despite her anger and the reckless actions of Beollan, Ilithyia had faith that K'issuk would deal with the male fire dragon. For now, her primary concern remained the well-being of the injured girl.

P A R K E R | A N D I E L
Female - 16 Years - New Rider - Aither
M - Gathering Group [Indirectly], Aither [Directly]

It was absolutely breathtaking to see all of the dragons coming and going. Scales, feathers, different kinds of horns and colors, you name it! Not a single one looked too much like the other, and while Parker had adamantly read descriptions of each of the different classes before, she still had trouble deciphering between all of them. There was definitely a fire dragon, as well as earth and what she assumed was either storm or dark. Classes like lunar and primal were harder for her to identify, but she hoped they were here too. A lot of interactions were happening around her, whether it was just the dragons or people socializing between one another exclusively, or one of the dragons had gotten brave enough to finally approach a human. Most, she hoped, were between a dragon and their rider. It was such a strange thing, the bonds. How had they first formed? Why exclusively their kingdom? A part of her wanted to believe it was a kind of spell, though the manifestation was still a mystery to her so it would have to remain just a guess.

Parker had strayed to the edges of the gathering people who, unlike the reptilian beasts slowly conglomerating, had decided to huddle up into a giant social mass. It seems dragons were much less social, or they simply did not like one another at all. Either way, it was also easier for her to see this way. Walking was no issue, even with her limp, however trying to poke her head above a few dozen others would always pose a bit of a problem. There was little Parker would be able to do to stop her leg from trembling under the weight, and there had been multiple times her parents had scolded her not to put pressure on her bad leg for long amounts of time. That was unimportant, however. Parker shifted a little where she was standing to allow herself to look around the area, taking in the different interactions but not really making any effort to try and eavesdrop. She had no expectations of being picked by any of them, but being here and seeing each of the beautiful creatures was more than enough. People of all different classes of standing had come to the valley, whether just because or they knew they were going to get picked. Or expected to at least. A few of the dragons had already made moves towards some people, plucking them from where they stood or approaching them and initiating the conversation.

A small smile made its way onto her face before her attention was caught on a particular figure. Within the distance sat a dragon under some trees, their scales a beautiful metallic silver accentuated by a shade of blue Parker reckoned she had never seen before. What caught her attention the most, however, was how she noticed their gaze fixed upon her. Their sunny yellow eyes burned with an intensity that she could practically touch even from how far they were standing, and what certainly didn't help was the sudden jolt her heart gave when she first started looking them over. That is when she finally caught herself staring.

Staring is rude, idiot.

Parker scolded herself, forcing her head to temporarily turn away from them before taking in a breath.

No way am I bonded to a dragon.

The brunette looked their way again, this time offering them a small smile that turned up the corners of her mouth and a slight wave, debating in her mind whether she should approach them or not.

I'm not bonded to a dragon.

Somewhere, Parker knew this to be utterly false. She had, by some god's design, been one of the lucky few to be paired with such a creature.

Holy shit holy shit holy shit.

Her mind turned into a cacophony of wonder and curiosity, eager to know what had determined such a phenomenon. It definitely wasn't her birth, as her parents, grandparents, and even great grandparents had never been chosen as far as she was aware.

It can't simply be a design of fate, can it?

She would have to brush these thoughts away for later. Mind made up, Parker made to approach the silvery dragon, unclear to what kind of class that they were but mind already buzzing with noisy traffic. As she finally stood a respectful distance from them, eyes still looking upon the dragon and a small smile still on her lips, she gave a small wave and shifted her weight onto her left leg.

"Hello there."

She spoke confidently, though in her mind wasn't entirely sure how to continue this conversation. Saying they were her dragon felt wrong. In all sense, they kind of belonged to each other, none with more authority than the other counterpart.

Would partners perhaps work better than?

She mused, tilting her head a bit.

Or even their bonded partner?

Perhaps she wouldn't be worthy to be bonded with such a dragon, but Parker would sure as hell try and prove it to them, limp and all. No matter how long it took. She opened her mouth to introduce her name, but before she could a cry suddenly cut through the air, and before she could even grasp what was happening, a bright burst of flame was shot from a different dragon's mouth towards a lady that stood right in front of them.

What the fuck.

All at once, seemingly millions jumped into action. A water dragon who went to not only protect the other lady but to also confront the other, now confirmed, fire dragon, an older guy who gently led her away afterwards towards a group composed of both species, and a bunch of gathering people and a few dragons who were all alight with panic. Holy shit. Calming everyone down from this would not be easy, that was safe to say. However, Parker stood her ground and took in a long shaky breath to steady herself, not letting her initial shock and panic set in and taking a moment to take in the situation. She watched, ready at a moment's notice to take action in case anyone needed something, but not to take leadership. The fire dragon was being confronted and prevented from doing more harm, and the lady who was attacked was being taken care of. The grass was singed and waterlogged simultaneously, but that was nothing that nature couldn't fix…. Hopefully.

It's under control.

She soothed herself, taking in another steadier breath.

Chill. Yes, I am totally the definition of chill right now.

Laika Herriman || New Rider || Dragon: Beollan || M: Beollan, K'issuk, Kaia

The faint feeling of peace she felt was in stark contrast to the expressions flashing across the great face in front of her and the matching ones now racing through her mind. She could hear with extra clarity now. She felt the tree give way beneath Beollan's frame, felt the fragments go flying. It was strange; she could almost sense what the dragon was going to do before he even did it, though only a split second before it happened. It was almost as though he wasn't even really thinking about it, until that final pause where their eyes met and he parted his maw. That had been premeditated.

Laika knew she wasn't fast enough to move, that this would be the end. A wry smile crossed her features. Of course this would be the end; she'd expected as much. She raised her arm up across her face to shield her eyes from the brightness that gathered in Beollan's throat -- what a pathetic, fruitless last action that would be. Laika was tempted to laugh at how ridiculous it all was. In fact, as the flames hit her, she did release a laugh.

She never quite felt the pain. As soon as the molten air hit her skin, she was pummeled on the left side by a blast of water that forced her other arm up against her body and knocked her off her feet. It would have shot her across the forest, she was sure, but the firm grip of a tail that definitely did not belong to the fire dragon sent her in the opposite direction. She landed on some poor soul but could not find it in her to move, let alone utter an apology. The man pulled her up and set her back on her feet, which Laika was surprised to find still held her steady.

She blinked as all the water previously held back by lying down came cascading down her face, neck, arms,... She was drenched, but she didn't hurt. Laika knew it was shock. She saw everything with a perfect, calm clarity that she knew was inherently wrong. She raised her hand to wipe the rivulets from her face but stopped the motion when she saw the angry red and black skin all along her arm. It faded away just past her elbow, probably due to the sleeve that was no longer present. The outermost layer of clothing on her was practically dissolving in the front, too. She sucked in through her teeth in a disappointed manner. Her mother would certainly finish what Beollan had started.

"...even if she did blast you with water." Laika realized the man was talking to her, and as his words registered, she examined her other arm. It, too, was red, and her ribs felt bruised, but this redness was not from a burn. She hummed in mild annoyance and turned her eyes to look at the man -- Kaia. A mentor, he said. K'issuk was the dragon, the other dragon, and there were leader people somewhere.

"I'm not screaming," she stated, blinking rapidly as more water ran into her eyes. "Shock shouldn't last this long... Nothing too bad... medical check? I mean, at least he was nice enough to cauterize it."

A hint of irritation entered her dumbfounded tone as she sent a glare back at her steaming arm. A dry chuckle escaped her as she thought of the irony. Here most people were, begging deities to provide them with the honor of having a dragon companion, and here she was, hers having just attempted flat out murder. And she wasn't even mad at him? "I think my mental stability needs more checking than my arm, sir."

Desmodus Draculae

Male Primal Dragon || Rider: Anatolious Rosenberg || M: (Dir) None. (Dir/Ind) Anatolious Rosenberg. (Ind) None.

~

At the faint sound of footsteps, Desmodus Draculae only bothered to flick an ear at Anatolious. The dragon didn't feel like turning his head since his neck was aching and sore after he fell and twisted it at the stupid ceremony, and he didn't want to risk making it hurt more. The saddle might hurt it... After that thought, it turned the saddle idea into him hoping it didn't hurt, because if it did, he'd have to fly Anatolious all the way to the shop with a sore neck. Flying with pain is never a good idea, well, for dragons like him with low pain tolerance. Hearing the sound and smelling the scent of his big leather saddle, he leaned down so the human could easily place it on his back. Fighting would be the worse option, and making Anatolious' life hard by dodging the human when he tried to put the saddle, on was also, a terrible idea. He braced himself for the sudden weight to make sure he wouldn't fall over. He fell over last time he wasn't prepared and freaked out, so he didn't want another situation like that time.

Desmodus turned his head to the side, enough for him to angle his eyes and see the saddle being put on, but also not too much to the point where he might hurt his neck again. That's when he noticed how incredibly weird saddles looked on him. "Like, look at that thing. I look like a horse now." He complained as he stared at the disgusting thing on his back, his nose wrinkling as he bared his teeth in disgust. "I am not a horse." He turned his eyes to an incredibly ragged and unkempt Anatolious. Examining his human a bit more, he almost gasped at the way that his boots looked. They looked like they'd tear any minute if he did as much as step wrong, let alone walk through the whole town with them. He's probably gonna head to the bathhouse and get clean like he normally does when there's a thing he's gotta go to. Oh, wait, when is the last time he's had to go to anywhere but the barracks and the town? He still never got over how weird it seemed to be bathed by someone else; how did Anatolious seem so fine with doing that? He would've asked the questions, but decided that it was just incredibly random and should probably only be asked if that was the subject they were talking about in the first place.

Desmodus faintly felt the human pat his fur, causing him to emit a rumbly purr. He loved getting pats, especially after a long flight. He was hopeful for a second that Anatolious would give him more pats, but it turned out that his human only gave him a quick pat before beginning to ramble on, while also climbing up the saddle. Hearing him was easy, but focusing on what he was saying wasn't. He was never good at focusing when others begin to ramble on, but he did manage to keep focusing to understand what Anatolious was actually saying, even though he didn't process each word. "I'll drop you off at town, and then I'll wait in the forest, but around the edge. Come to me because there's a whole lot of new dragons this year, and who knows if one will try to eat you, and I, do not want to live depressed because you got eaten by someone that we're technically supposed to be training right now. I actually have to get back to the ceremony as soon as I can, because Illithyia and K'issuk have to watch all those dragons and make sure no one gets eaten."

When Anatolious told him to go, Desmodus' wings whipped open. He began to slowly flap them to maintain balance as he began to trot forward. The more he picked up speed, the faster his wings flapped to make sure that he stayed balanced. It was always difficult to take flight this way, but it's just the way he learned. He knew how to take off other ways, but for Anatolious' safety, it was better for him to do it this way. He jumped up a tiny bit before using his legs to shove himself up into the air, and his wings just angled a weird way so the wind would help him fly up. Taking off this way was never fun or easy, but if Anatolious fell, then they'd be delayed because he'd have to get back on the saddle. And now, they were off!

-[~|~]-

This is now after he dropped Anatolious off at the town.

-[~|~]-

Desmodus' wings flapped as he headed towards the ceremony. planning to land inside the forest. He could never present himself to the other dragons with all these branches and leaves stuck in his fur. That would be very embarrassing for him to arrive for the second time, covered in branches and leaves and walking weird because the sun was hurting him and annoying his legs and toes. The wind blew his fur around as he glided through the beautiful sky, but it happened to blow his fur in his face. He always had his fur in his face after a gust of wind came, and it was very annoying. Maybe if he asked nicely, Anatolious could trim his fur a little bit. The few clouds in the sky loomed above him, but they were so small that it didn't stop the sun from scraping at his fur and inflicting pain on his poor skin. The sun was always so painful to him, so waiting for Anatolious in the forest was a good idea. It would allow him to rest under the shade so when he emerges, the sun would just be a minor tingling feeling instead of like having tiny, sharp blades jamming into his skin.

The ceremony was only about two minutes away from the town when flying, so Desmodus already reached the wonderful forest that would get shelter from the horrible sunlight. It was such a beautiful forest in his opinion; the lush green leaves and tiny puddles really putting the forest on the beautiful side. Most forests in his opinion are ugly, but this one, was just wonderful. He dipped his head down, turning his body towards the ground and pulling his wings against his sides. His flight course had changed in seconds, and he was now headed towards the forest. His fur was in his face even more then before though, almost completely impairing his sight. He hated his fur sometimes, but other times, he thought it made him fabulous. Due to his large ears and superior ability to hear, his eardrums screamed at the loud snapping and crunching of branches and obstacles and the loud whooshing of wind that would probably seem minor to other dragons with normal hearing.

As the loud, continuous sounds finally ceased, one last sound from him echoed through the trees as his paws smashed the ground below him. The grass had completely crumbled under his crushing weight, some pieces even getting ripped in half. The ground was so weak, yet so strong at the same time. It made no sense. As he stepped through the forest, each spot behind him left a trail of prints as the grass crumbled and snapped beneath each paw. His head shook majestically as he waved the fur out of his face, ensuring that his wonderful style still remained in his thick obsidian-colored fur. At finding a good spot to observe the ceremony while remaining under the forest's cover, he finally sat on his haunches, watching the ceremony. He lifted up his wing to use his claws and gently peel each piece of broken stick or leaf out, but of course, he still left his amazing style behind his ear.

Skylar

Female | New Rider | Mentions: (directly) Sevo Archemoros, Ahura, Aalis Soile

Skylar shot a playful yet warning look at Ahura. As he gazed at her with a mischievous glint in his eyes, wiggling his brows and muffling a giggle. It was clear that he had noticed her blush, and Skylar knew that she would likely hear about this later.

Sky couldn't help but find herself captivated by the Dark dragon, her curiosity piqued as she studied him intensely. She mused about how misunderstood he must be, feeling a surge of empathy as she gazed at his unique and less conventionally appealing appearance. While he might not be the prettiest of dragons, she sensed a sweetness about him and could tell that he meant no harm, especially by the way his long tail encircled them, almost protectively.

"Oh Ahura, you always liked to take great care of your skin!" Sky playfully winked at Ahura, not missing the humor in the mention of the Dark dragon's mucus.

Her frown quickly turned into a warm smile as he apologized. She waved off his apology, before remembering that he couldn't see her, she spoke gently, "You have no reason to apologize for your aura; I quite like you and I know Ahura does too!" Giving him a soft pinch to speak up to reassure his dragon.

Skylar found herself grinning like a fool as the Dark dragon described her scent. She stuck her tongue out playfully to Ahura. "My name is Skylar Odin, Ahura’s friend" her heart swelled with affection when she heard him say that any dragon would be lucky to have her. Before she could ask any more questions, a soft cooing noise caught her attention.

The tugging in Skylar's chest had become both persistent and stronger, drawing her focus toward the radiant Light dragon. Aalis Soile's scales shimmered with an iridescent sheen, and her distinctive horns added to her ethereal beauty. The aura of grace and serenity that surrounded Aalis Soile left Skylar in awe, and she soon realized the significance of the moment. As Aalis Soile settled into a laying down position and began speaking, Skylar's initial confusion gave way to realization. Her dragon had found her.

"Hello Aalis Soile," Skylar began softly, her voice filled with reverence. "I'm..." Her words faltered as she gazed at the magnificent dragon before her. "I'm Skylar Odin, and this is my friend Ahura De Mevius and his Dark dragon, Sevo Archemoros."

Skylar's joy was abruptly shattered as her attention was forcibly yanked away from her Light dragon. Chaos had erupted in the field, and she watched in horror as a large Fire dragon unleashed a devastating blast upon his rider. Her heart thudded painfully in her chest as the terrifying scene unfolded.

It was like a slow motion scene as a mentor's water dragon intervened, redirecting the blast and preventing it from killing the girl. Skylar stood frozen, a mix of shock and fear coursing through her, as she observed the tumultuous turn of events. The two monstrous dragons faced off now while the Water dragon’s rider cradled the young woman.

Skylar's instinct for self-preservation kicked in as she reached for Ahura's hand, desperately seeking his reassurance and support in the midst of the terrifying standoff between the two monstrous dragons. Her heart pounded in her chest as she used her free hand to gently place it upon her own dragon's warm neck.

Beollan
Beollan the Skycleaver
Fire Dragon | Male | Returned Dragon | Mentions: K'issuk Ran, Laika, Kaia, Others

Blazing eyes narrowed when a spray of water interrupted his fire, sending steam billowing towards him, causing him to draw his face back on instinct. Shortly after the flames leaping from his jaws resigned, and he looked down to the scortch portion of the ground, the ground smoldering as steam rose from it, turning the ashen ground into a soggy, muddy mess.

Truly, Beollan hadn't even realized that the rider has survived until his eyes locked on the water she-dragon that was acting as a barrier between her and a pair of human behind her, one of them his own new rider. Baring his teeth in frustration, the male shook his head and allowed himself to return to all fours, his front feet landed on the ground with a reverberating thud. The trees around him trembled from the force, and another fell as his tail lashed at it, the wood splintering around the scaled appendage before shattering completely at the point of contact.

A wooshing sound could be heard as the vents upon his face opened to release hot air, effectively cooling the fiery male down over time. The dragon facing off against him was obviously more experienced than others in the valley, and, if he had to guess, she held some sort of higher position than the novices getting chosen today. Her protective nature only confirmed that for him as she began to somewhat relax as more space was given between him and all the others.

The near tangible scent of fear rose in the valley, a sensation heavy on his tongue as it flicked out and ran over his muzzle. As it returned to his mouth, his jaws opened to reveal the blackened skin of his throat and gums, and spoke out calmly. "She's lucky I gave her the opportunityto be saved. I could have snapped her up and swallowed her whole had I wanted to," he growled out, prowling out of the forest slowly so he didn't destroy it any further, walking into the full sight of others. His wings gave a powerful flapping motion, sending a gust of hot air away from him to further push others away.

Baring his teeth in aggression, but also discomfort, he lowered onto his haunches with an irritated jostle of his wings. He seemed completely unphased by his attempted murder, and more so annoyed it had been interrupted. He warily eyed the female dragon before letting his eyes shift towards his rider in the distance behind her. He could tell she had been wounded in some fashion, but what he was surprised by was she didn't seem to be losing her shit about it. She actually seemed calm, there didn't seem to even be a sheen of tears over her face to indicate she had been crying, she was drenched from the water dragon, but not actively crying. It was almost impressive. Almost.

Snorting he returned his attention to the uniquely looking water dragon, taking her appearance in. Based on her coloration and features, he would guess she was a deep water sea dragon of some sort. When she finally spoke to him his eyes trained on her narrowed a degree, smoke blowing out his nose a bit at her question.

"I suppose I am," he ansered as he slid to his belly, crossing his front legs over one another in front of him like the sophisticated gentleman he was. He grumbled out and coughed out a bit of flame for a moment, before he recentered his focus onto the female. He figured his actions had stepped on a few toes, but he was a dragon, he was not a tamed beast despite what many thought. If he wanted to kill his rider, than that was his perogative.

Aither

Air Dragon | Male | New Dragon | Mentions: (directly) Parker, (indirectly) others

Aither let out a low, almost inaudible rumble as the small brunette approached him. She was even tinier up close, her delicate frame and limp more noticeable as she shifted her weight around. He studied her with cold, piercing yellow eyes as she greeted him, a soft, yet determined smile on her face.

He couldn't help but be slightly impressed by her audacity. His vibes of "fuck off" were practically spelled out in every line of his posture, but here she was, undeterred by his icy demeanor. There was something about her resilience that intrigued him.

Aither's low rumble, a warning to most, was cut short by the sudden eruption of chaos. The valley was ablaze as a Fire dragon unleashed a torrent of flames upon his rider. Aither watched with intense curiosity, his cold yellow eyes locked onto the scene.

A Water dragon swiftly intervened, a violent blast of water deterred most of the fire, shielding the young woman. It was a chaotic clash of elements, a dangerous dance of power and destruction. He watched as a boy came to retrieve the wounded woman, moving her towards a cliff that held another Fire dragon and a rider.

Aither remained tense, his senses finely attuned to the unfolding situation. As the Air dragon, he had mastery over the very atmosphere itself, and his powers were indeed formidable. The wind was now barely above a soft whisper as he called to it. He understood that if the need arose, he could wield the air to devastating effect, depriving the flames of their life-sustaining oxygen, or even targeting the male Fire dragon directly. While the situation appeared to be under control, Aither couldn't help but feel a lingering unease, a nagging concern for the young woman's well-being.

Unintentionally, Aither's innate protective instinct took over. With a subtle flick of his tail, he sent a shield of wind surging towards Parker, encircling her with a protective barrier. The only indication that it was even there was the wind gently playing in Parker's hair. He tensed as he realized what he did. The realization that he was developing a bond with her was starting to become hard to ignore, though he wasn't quite ready to admit it. He felt a growing sense of protectiveness, a connection that went beyond mere curiosity.

Aither's full attention returned to Parker, watching as she began to regain her composure over the ordeal. With a soft snort, he leaned closer to her, his vibrant yellow eyes meeting hers. He must admit, her eyes were unique. Not quite green, nor gray. Somewhere in the middle where they bledned, yet clashing at the same time.

"Aither," he grunted finally, his deep voice resonating with authority and power. "My name is Aither, and I am an Air dragon. You, young one, seem to be my rider." Each word seemed to carry a profound weight, emphasizing not only his introduction but also finally acknowledging the connection between them. As he spoke, he couldn't help but delve further into the bond that was forming, prodding at it, testing its strength. It seemed to tighten with each passing moment, he wondered how it felt for her. Some humans had severe reactions to the first bonding moment, for others, they barely notice the bond snapping into place.

Mariana Cross
Human | Female | New Rider | Mentions: Rhyhor, Ahura, Skylar, Kavik

A soft blush coated the apples of the young woman's cheeks as Kavik mentioned sneaking into her castle, and she let out a soft laugh as she shook her head. "Oh, please, Kavik, we both no my father would have more than just your head if he ever caught you sneaking around my home," an unpleasant look overcame her features when she remembered the consequences when her father had found out about her sister, Kaera's, secret boyfriend.

Her sky colored eyes drifted from Kavik to Skylar as Ahura started talking and she offered a soft smile to the pleasant girl, before moving her gaze over to Ahura. The smile on her lips turned a bit sad and her forehead creased for a moment, before her lips parted to speak. Only she was cut off when the huge storm dragon reached out and, quite literally, snatched her out.

A soft, somewhay panicked sound that was somewhere inbetween a squeak and a squeal left her lips, and her hands instinctively gripped the talons holding her to brace herself for what was to come. Was she getting eaten?

However when the teeth never came, and only the sound of the monstrous creature's voice spoke within her head did she come to understand what had happened. She had been chosen.

The first emotion seen on her features was caught somewhere between awe and shock. This wondrous creature, powerful and wild, had chosen her. She couldn't help but marvel at him for a moment.

"Hello," she spoke softly, her voice breathy as she stamped down her panick, but it was also the grip around her body that seemed to make her voice airy. "Im Mariana. You are a... magnificent beast," she murmured, and then covered her lips with her hand. "Im sorry! I didn't mean to insult you by calling you a beast! I-I," she frowned, as she didn't know what to say and finally shrugged. "I imagine you've been called worse though," she stated matter of factly, more for herself than him.

It was just about then that magnitude of what had happened hit her. She had been chosen. She couldn't simply return home and pretend like nothing had happened. Her dad would come to make an appearance today, and he would see her amongst the other new Riders and there was nothing she could do. Ohhh he was going to kill her.

Anxiety crept up her neck as she thought about it, though one thought kept pushing her worries away. She'd been chosen, there was nothing he could do about it now. She'd move into the academy, and no longer live under her father's thumb.

Nicodemus Brooks
Human | Male | Squad Leader | Mentions: Ilithiya, Beollan, Sujulekatsiak, K'issuk, Kaia, and Laika

To say that Nico went through most of his interactions in a half daze, not even fully listening to everything said to him, and only offering a slight 'hn' now and then in acknowledgement would be accurate. He really wasn't even fully paying attention until the bellowing roar from below collected his focus just as the massive dragon, known as Beollan it seemed, attempted to slaughter his rider right then and there in front of everyone. His eyes narrowed a degree, and he glanced at Kaia who took off running at the scene, catching the girl when his own dragon sent her tumbling after efficiently saving her life.

A hiss to his side pulled his silvery gaze and he gently murmured, "keep your composure, Ilithiya." It wasn't judgement, just a gentle reminder that as Squad leaders they were expected to act and not react to things going on. "It's not unusual for dragons to try and kill their riders, it just usually doesn't happen during this portion," he reasoned, referring to the portion of the ceremony known as the First Flight. It was the time when many dragons tested the metal of their newfound riders to determine if they were worried. In his year alone he remembered distinctly three different dragons who had tried to unseat their riders, one, a dark dragon with a vile temperament, had succeeded. It was gruesome, but it was a fact.

He rolled his shoulders and then began to make his way down the mountain. "Lets ensure a buffer remains between the others and the Fire dragon. I think most dragons have at least found their riders by now, so lets start evacuating the students not chosen," he instructed, but paused midstep and blinked. "Thiya," he called with the female's nickname, a slight bewilderment to his tone. "What is that?" He briefly motioned to what at first looked like a pair of dragons emerging for the forest, only for it to be revealed to be a two headed dragon.

Nicodemus had never heard of, let alone seen, a two headed dragon, and the sight had him stopped in his tracks. That and the absolutely malicious look to them. There was something unsettling, unhinged, about the two that he picked up on just by looking at them. His steely gaze narrowed as he observed the pair, seemingly the epitome of yin and yang in appearance, they were stunning in their unique way, elegant and graceful, but there was a twisted aura around them that told his instincts to be on guard.

Shaking his head, he tried to refocus on the task at hand and looked back at his own dragon. "Im going to go check on Kaia and the fire dragon's rider, I'm going to rely on you to make sure no other tempers flare as a result of his actions, and create space between him and others. Everything seems tamed now, but I don't want the whole valley to break out into a fight between the dragons. There are too many humans right now that could be caught in the crossfire," he offered her, and then turned and continued down to where Kaia and the young woman was.

He kept his eye on the odd two headed dragon as he walked, reaching the mentor and the girl quickly with his long strides. He surveyed her quickly with his eyes once he reached her and nodded. "K'issuk did a good job, she kept much of the enjuries to a minimum," he stated calmly, his voice giving little emotion.

He gently examined her without introducing himself, gauging her wounds and the shock she seemed to be in. "You'll live. If a dragon here cannot heal here, one of the Academy ones can. I doubt she'll even scar."

"Ilithiya, can you find a dragon in the valley who can either heal her or help with her wounds to make her more comfortable for the time being?" He spoke to the fire dragoness through the bond, and then refocused on Laika.

"Im Nicodemus, your squad leader. Congratulations, you survived your dragons first attempt at murdering you. Seeing his temperament, I doubt it will be the last but you're still alive. His words were direct and without apology, not one to sugar coat things for others' benefit. "

Sedna Nurul Seelen
New Rider | Male | Mentions: Hyoga
Indirectly Mentions: Kaia, K'issuk, Beollan, Laika, Others In That Group[TM], Mariana, Others

The young man watched as, for a few brief moments, serenity seemed to wash over the valley. And then, of course, the dragons began arriving. He watched a Light Dragon talk with his brother and K'issuk, dragons with unsettling appearances and worse auras shifting through the crowd and moving towards their bonded. He even watched as a Storm Dragon moved towards a woman who, from the distance, seemed to be Mariana Cross.

Given the lack of blood and screaming, he figured the huge dragon was her bond. He wasn't sure if he was disappointed or not. He didn't hate the blonde, not really, but he couldn't deny the bitterness he felt towards her.

The young man dragged his attention away from her, watching as other dragons arrived, such as a strange two-headed dragon, as well as a huge Fire Dragon. He watched, concern beginning to ebb through his mind, as the dragon put on a display and subsequently lit his rider on fire. Sedna's mouth dropped open, his hand lifting to shield his eyes from the bright flame, only to see a figure sprinting through the crowd as K'issuk doused the flames.

His fucking brother.

As much as his brother annoyed him, Sedna watched with near-horrified attention as Kaia sprinted towards the Fire Dragon and Water Dragon, grabbing the hurt rider and crowding her away. Oh, Kaia was getting an earful next time he was home. What kind of idiot runs directly at the flames like that? He could have gotten killed.

Sedna had half a thought to march over to his brother and tell him right then and there, except, in that moment, movement near him caught his attention. His eyes darted over to a dragon, one clearly an Ice Dragon, and seemingly.. approaching him. Sedna froze, his mind going blank, and a single, slightly irritated, thought on his mind:

No. Fucking. Way.
