I freeze as they start arguing, and my ears press flat against my head. "Stop!" I yelp, finally, realizing I'm a wolf as I dig my claw into the ground. I remember the time my parents died, and the mountain lion. I'd thought it had been one then, but now I knew it wasn't. And whatever it had been, it had probably been waken up by our argument. It was coming. |
