The mental gymnastics she was currently performing likely required a professional or a gold medalist to actually understand. She hadn't answered his question in the slightest, actually. Darcy had given him some round-about excuse about being vice principal but not actual principal? Like... it was some sort of hierarchy or kingdom? It was a school. For children. Not to mention that job positions didn't work like that. Then complaining that he wasn't the only tired one. "The only fact that I can see, Darcy, is the fact that you are currently worse than some of the students themselves," Fabian finally stated, his voice flat and dry. "I wonder how you managed to get hired in the first place. You've played around on your mental jungle gym avoiding touching the actual question and then got irritated when I pointed out that you hadn't." The man crossed his arms over his chest. "The reason why I refuse to be principal is because I would much rather keep playing damage control and keep kids safe than let you stick your nose where it shouldn't be. May I remind you of the very real danger that lingers in the forests? That I go out every night to keep at bay?" The man stepped forward finally, squaring his shoulders and lowering his chin again. "These students deserve a safe place, Miss Grey. As long as I am where I am, it will be safe. Now, do your adult job as an adult and stop pestering me about it," Fabian hissed under his breath before stepping back and towards the door. |
