I think the only reason why I'm surviving so many boss battles now is because I not only have a full explore team, but all of my explorers are past 325 BE because I've been training them to hell the past 2 days

I assume it just means go explore the forest until you find the creature you need to fight, but I've been exploring there for hours and found nothing since an hour after bounties were added

i've seen this a few times, been debating putting my two cents in. with recycled roleplays, i think they clog up the forms, but do more damage as well. people become accustomed to those roleplays, and so whenever someone goes to make something out of the standard, nobody joins. basically what i'm getting at here is they lack creativity and nobody wants to join a roleplay that's actually creative, and not the usual horse or dragon roleplay

and i'm not saying that recycled roleplays aren't creative, because some of them are. but after the first few times they don't take off, it just gets annoying to see them continually clogging up the forms. as someone who used to be heavy in the rp scene, both 1x1 and group, i can definitely see major changes. nobody is as literate anymore, not as invested in roleplays. so that does make it quite challenging for the people who host them, and i can see why they recycle the roleplays that they want to take off. while i do prefer 1x1s and rarely join group rps nowadays, it's because it's also so hard to find literate people.

i'll admit, i'm not nearly as good of a writer as i was when i was very involved in the rp scene. but still, it's quite hard to find people who are both active, involved, and literate. that's also a huge reason why rps are they way they are now. there's many other things i could talk about, but haha i'm not going to just drone on and on. those are my two major thoughts at the moment. as for fixing the roleplay scene, there's not all that much that can be done, in my personal opinion

While I do agree with you that recycled RPs do clog up the forums and damage them, I think that it's okay that if each host has like one or two RPs that they recycle around, but the main problem is that most RP hosts will only make like five different RPs and then they'll keep recycling those over and over again, and those just never happen to go for very long.

~

I think another reason why RPs never really last long is because of how slow RPs go by in time. Now if the RP had five different things happen in one day, it'd feel like it's going by too fast, while if the RP only managed to get through one day every year, it'd move too slow. That's just an unfixable issue, unless you gather a group of RPers who will spend every hour of their lives making posts for RPs.

also that, yes. i just feel like the host should only try and recycle the rp a few times. and if it doesn't even make it past the sign ups multiple times, then it's not worth it to keep trying

i do agree with that. people have lives, they don't have time to just constantly post every single hour of the day. i do prefer more relaxed rps, one post a week type deal. communication is key here, and most people avoid that. like, i do enjoy talking to my partners outside of rp about anything and everything. i think that communication is a good way to combat the time issue, the pace all depends on what you and your partner prefer. if you both like slower paced rps with one thing happening per day in rp, slow paced is best. and vice versa for fast

i`m fairly new to roleplaying but i get frustrated when i sign up to something and it never starts or just hits a dead end and i have to find another cool rp to put my time into.
I also don`t see many interesting rps and it goes very slowly.
I also find that people might be scared to throw their hat in the ring for fear that it`s too complicated, not interesting, too overdone, will die quickly, or just never take off even if it`s a great idea. I for one bit scared to make an RP for those reasons.

I mean, I have made and mantained roleplays in the past. This is not my first account. But even if I hadn't, there wouldn't be anything invaluable about me saying your roleplays never take off--even if I had never made a roleplay myself.
By being rude? By being honest, I've opened a better discussion.
I mean the same goes for you Imperial Sands. About a year ago I started a small project documenting WolfPlay roleplays going downhill. Here's a small bit of it for Spellbound.
Imperial if you'd like I can go through your RP history too.
All I'm saying if roleplays are so hard to maintain and keep going and if you easily lose interest in them, maybe you should retire.

If you think it's so easy to create and maintain a Roleplay, Sputnik, why don't you do so yourself? There's no reason to be rude to Spellbound, she has plenty of successful roleplays, plus her skill in literacy and what she brings to the table for the rps is rivaled only by few. By being rude, you've ruined any chance of anyone taking anything you say on this type of discussion seriously since you've showed you have no interest in helping provide a solution and instead just ridiculing those who try their best. We're human. We make mistakes and we struggle with things. Instead of bashing people, perhaps you should offer ideas on how to help. If not, then perhaps this discussion isn't for you, because if it isn't constructive then there's no reason to say it.

Another point: The lack of substance in roleplays could be another pushing issue as to why are none are ever taking off. It's recycled, there isn't a lot to build off of, and/or the same topic has been redone to the point where doing that topic is no longer interesting. No, I don't want to do another pack vs pack wolf rivalry roleplay.
Though my biggest point is the fact that none ever take off. I'd say there's a big two or three wolfplay users in the roleplay forum that constantly post new sign-ups and eventually completely stop replying to it even after people keep posting forms and asking if it's still alive. These sign-ups are the single use plastics of the roleplay world.
I go to the roleplay forum and every page I click through on the sign-ups tab, I find 2-3 roleplays made by the same two people that just somehow... never took off?
I'm not sure saying "If you think it's so easy to create and maintain a roleplay, Sputnik, why don't you do it yourself?" When you consistently post new sign-ups only for them to never take off.

I've started a series of polls. I'll be uploading the second one today. It is to check what people want most in rps. At the moment people seem to be wanting posts of 150-300 words mainly but also some people seeking longer 300-500 word posts. I'm hoping to design a rp that I'll enjoy hosting as well as one that other people will enjoy roleplaying in. If anybody has any advice at some point, please, let me know!

Sputnik. Please just chill out, and don't be rude to Spellbound and Imperial.

I do not mean to be rude when i say this but what do you think new rp hosts can do to make better rps that actually start?
What do you suggest could help this issue?
I`m genuinely curious when i ask this so i can improve when i make my first rp.
