(OOC: Earlier posts are in my blog)
That intruder...he was on to something, I think, with these wolves. Maybe we shouldn't have shot the red one with the black patches. Maybe he was working on a way to help us, and to think how we repaid him...
It's the least I can do to follow in his footsteps. Even if I wasn't tasked to, I'd do it anyway. I don't think I'm the best for this, though - I'm a huntress, not a writer, but I'll try. It's all I can do.

I was following the wolves on the way back from a hunting expedition when Yip, Lightning, Call, and Tundra stopped for water while Breeze and Forest scouted ahead. They were about to continue on when I heard a low roar. The wolves looked around frantically, watching a huge bear barrelling towards them; they had gotten between her and her cubs. Call nudged Yip out of the way of a swipe, but it cost her own life to do so. Tundra lunged at it, and the two animals fought viciously. I checked my gun, only to find that I was out of ammo. Tundra defeated the bear, but had barely stepped away before she, too, collapsed.

I was following the Talen wolves as they hunted; it was Call and Breeze leading Yip, Forest, Tundra, and Lightning. To my surprise, I saw a pale she-wolf standing in the snow. She was a slim, lightweight creature and watched the pack with a curious expression. Call approached - a little stiffly due to her age - and I considered shooting the strange wolf if she attacked the Beta. I didn't have to, though, as Call turned away from her. The pack headed back to their den, the young she-wolf following curiously.
The pack seems to be accepting the little she-wolf; I'll call her Snow. She doesn't hunt much, but seems to get along well with Silver Wish. I saw her and Bravo grooming each other, so I guess he doesn't mind his son's apparent love interest.

Silver Rain had been getting older day by day, and this morning she just...stopped. She didn't stir when Maelstrom nudged her, or when Bravo brought her the carcass of a hare. The pack sat in silence for awhile before Bravo gave Silver Wish a long look and lowered his muzzle.
It was...surreal.

My squad found the wolves' den. We don't want to disturb them too much, though we managed to get a tracking collar around the stocky female that the notes call Maelstrom. Their den is at the base of the mountains, in a large cave. Most of the wolves sleep there, with the Betas closest to the entrance as guards. Around the cave is a pine forest.
For the ranks of the wolves, it looks like the big brown male named Bravo and his sleek cream-pointed mate Silver Rain are the Alphas. The Betas appear to be the black-furred male called Breeze and an older red she-wolf named Call. Breeze's mate is Maelstrom, and Call doesn't have a mate. Call takes care of the pups, it looks like.
