"Rid of it." The raspy, sickly sounding voice hissed. Tifai opened her shining green eyes, confusion spreading through the young pup. She saw her rogue mother, Toffee, and her loner sire, Kilos. The two were conversing quietly, sharing harsh words. "What do I do with it?" Kilos spat, his ice colored eyes blazing. "How should I know? Send her to Ursus Pack, you know they can't decline a needing pup!" Toffee rushed, her green eyes pleading. The she-wolf's cream colored pelt made no mark on the dark colored wolf named Tifai. Her sire, Kilos, made the most effect, with his black, grey, and slate fur. "Sire? Mother? What's going on?" Tifai squealed as she found herself being lifted. Kilos quickly carried her off. "We're going on an adventure, my duckling." Tifai nodded sleepily, calming down. She was set down in a Bush on Ursus territory and left there. Days passed before she felt herself being lifted again. Ticks are at her flesh, maggots swarmed her hind. "Suphlatus, what did you find?" Tifai heard a voice call. "Af, it's a pup! We must return it to camp, Asbeel will decide what happens to it." Tifai's eyes slipped closed once more as darkness overcame her.
The she-pup was brought back to camp, and renamed, Chaziquiel Angel of Fog. The young wolf didn't understand at first. Where was her sire? Her dam? Chaziquiel knew they were coming back, they had to! But once Suphlatus sat her down and told her that her sire and dam had abandoned her for weeks, Chaziquiel gave up.
Soon,the sick pup was cured of her ticks and maggots, and she was able to play with the other pups. She never asked about Toffee and Kilos again, instead, Suphlatus and Af were her new kin, her new sire and dam, and Chaziquiel knew they would never abandon her.
But a constant question kept itching at the back of the soot-colored pup's mind. Had her parents left her for a good reason?
