In the winter, Silver Birch was born to the foundress and the Alpha. In the fall, he usurped his father as Alpha of the pack. In the spring, he killed his first enemy, a badger. Next spring, he was demoted to Omega. In the summer of Silver Birch's fourth year, the pack moved from the forest to the swamp, during which time he bred with an outsider. In the fall, he reclaimed his position as Alpha. In the winter, the Alphas produced Flurry. In the spring, Silver Birch bred to two outsiders. In the spring of Silver Birch's eighth year, the pack moved from the swamp to the jungle. In the winter, he bred to three outsiders. The Alphas produced their second pup, Cloud, in the spring. In the summer of Silver Birch's twelfth year, the pack moved from the jungle to the desert. That fall, his mother passed away. That winter, he found 10 mushrooms. Silver Birch's daughter, Silver Rain, was born to him and Quicksilver at this time. In the summer, his mate and his father both passed away. In the fall, he gave up his role as Alpha to his daughter's mate, and became Beta. In the winter of Silver Birch's fourteenth year, the pack moved from the desert to the mountains. Then, he bred to three outsiders. In the spring, Silver Birch found 10 mushrooms. Then, he bred to an outsider. In the spring of Silver Birch's eighteenth year, the pack moved from the mountains to the tundra. Then, he bred to two outsiders.

Silver Birch is a rather lazy wolf. The Alpha can often be found in the den, preferring to eat what the hunters bring back rather than hunt himself, though he has the skills to do so. It is likely from Silver Birch that Cloud got his gluttonous streak. Despite this, Silver Birch knows how to use his weight and power to threaten any who would usurp his position.
