Lake was born when the pack was in a rapid decline. The pack of her youth was plentiful, both in numbers and in strength, but all this was nearly gone when she reached adulthood. She learned to make due, grit her teeth against cold and hunger, and managed to see her pack through this time of crisis. Still, even now, Lake and her brother Storm both old wolves, the glory of ancient days is something the here and now can't reach.
