Samara, the Fearless
Mercilessly mocked by the other wolves in the pack, Samara was ashamed of her ugly, gnarled coat and dead left eye. There were times she would snarl at one of them, maybe gnash her terrifically sharp teeth, but they weren't afraid of her; to them, she posed less of a threat than a teething pup.
Samara was a very lonely wolf.
What with her social rejection, the she-wolf retreated further and further into the woods and prairies of her homeland. She found solace in the quiet balance of life there-- the deer ate the grass, the bear ate the deer and, when the bear lay dead and still on the forest floor, he too was eaten.
Samara was a quick learner. She watched the lion and learned to stalk, silent and keen, she watched the coyote and learned to steal from the bear. Samara became a fearsome and wily creature. With no law of the pack, with no territory borders to heed, she realized that there was nothing for her with her own family and left for the Northern forests.
