Biography
Around him, the rain seemed to fall in a significant rhythm from the clouds in the sky, a constant tap against the ground's solid surface. The mild breeze around him had transformed into a vigorous, powerful wind, causing him to shiver violently from the bitter cold, and the raindrops that now soaked his fur were of no help to him. From afar the thunder boomed, and soon after lightning struck, a bright flash of light which flickered as it shot through the sky only to disappear once more. The ravens that had followed him cawed with alarm, dispersing almost immediately in all directions, and all of a sudden, he was left alone to fend for himself, in the storm. His pawsteps quickened to a brisk pace, but eventually he came to an unexpected halt as he neared the edge. Before him surged the waters of a stream, its waves crashing against the walls of the steep canyon. He took a moment to glance behind him, seeing his faint shadow painted over the torrent's chaotic waves, and before he could hesitate, he leaped in a desperate attempt to grasp the other side, however, his paws slipped over the edge and he tumbled down into the frigid waves with a splash. His lungs screamed for air as he clawed his way to the surface, taking only a single breath before the heavy weight of the water plunged his head below once more, and at the moment, he felt himself slowly letting go before his paws grasped a sturdy branch. His breaths were shaky as he flung himself over, meeting the lush grass that tickled his fur, in a way that was reassuring. Shadow's eyelids felt heavy with exhaustion, however, he continued along towards the shelter of the trees where little rain seemed to pass through the thick layer of leaves. His legs soon gave way underneath him, and he collapsed against the trunk of a tree. His eyes slowly closing, despite how steely his grip was on keeping himself conscious. By the time the sun rose high among the clouds, the storm had settled down, the wind returning to its normal pace: gentle, yet stable. And finally, sound of chirping birds reached his ears, the sound of triumph it seemed, as he opened his eyes, he did not see the empty space within the trees, but familiar faces of his pack, but not only his pack, but his father's as well. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Written by minutiae, #212287
