Biography
The red wolf lay panting, exhausted after the struggle to give birth. It had been difficult, and she could see that two pups hadn't made it. But one was wriggling, whining, searching for milk. She nudged it gently. It was a beautiful warm honey color with gray paws, and it was strong. She was strong. Her daughter.
The wolf could hear her mother's words filter through her brain, from when she was but a pup: eager, energetic, excited. We wolves are made of steel.
As her pup suckled, her attention was drawn to its four gray paws. Steel paws. Your name is Steelpaw, she thought.
Steelpaw looked up at her mother, content and full, with those ice blue eyes of her father. She was just like her father; the red wolf could tell-- strong yet gentle. She would make a great leader someday.
Her legacy secure, the content wolf sighed and closed her eyes. The newborn pup snuggled up next to her. All was right with the world.
