Faust listened to the silence. Not a single bird twittered, and the wind dared to shake the leaves of the oaks.
His eyes flickered across the land in front of him, nearly dancing along the waves of grass and flowers that dotted the hills just right before his nose.
He owned this place. He had run from the pack and made it here - this was his true home, the only land where he felt comfort. In the tribe, all was rules and all everyone cared about was dominance.
But here.... Here, he was free. No orders, no responsibility or expectation. He was untamed - and he liked it, too.
His fur flowing in the strength of the breeze as it suddenly started to sprint along the earth, he charged forward, his feet turning raw as he kept running.
His eyes were shut, as he was afraid to meet the forces ahead. His paws slipped.
Faust's body was carried through the air, and he didn't dare open his optics. Everything was black, too ebony for his liking - though he couldn't - wouldn't - let his stare look around him.
He slammed into hard stone, his entire frame shivering madly, and he smelled the metallic aroma of blood. His plasma, splattered carelessly about his surroundings. He was unable to get up, forced to be pinned against the rock, where death would soon be upon him.
