Fern Honesty that makes so much sense rather than wasting a good meat cow because they are lame put them to good use . What about their hide do you use that to make leather when you butcher the cows yourselves ?
Wendigo
Fern It fluctuates block by block 😠one street you are lucky to pay $4 a gallon, most of the time it's like $6+. I remember when I was in college it was basically $7 and I had to drive 40 minutes each way...
Fernweh.
Dom Oh that tracks. I bet it's insane :') I've heard gas in Cali has been high for so long
Wendigo
Fern I'm less than an hour south of LA 😠costs are just as bad here and they seem to get worst every year. Even gas is nutty 😠
Wild Runners
Probably shouldn't have stayed up till like 2 am last night.. Tired as shit now.
Fernweh.
Dom That is good at least, and very kind of you <3 I'll be fortunate in a similar way someday when I return to the family ranch
Wendigo
Otherwise I'd easily be paying 2k+ a month for a decent studio/one bed apartment
Wendigo
Fern Oh it's BAD here, I'm just fortunate enough that when I moved back, I moved back into my family home to take care of my dad
Fernweh.
Dom I totally get that! And that's valid too xD It's probably wildly expensive there. Cost of living here is pretty high too
Wendigo
Fern I grew up in and out of cities/suburbs. I've always hated it here but I've stayed because of family. I think once my father passes (which I hope it won't be for a LONG time) I'll probably go out and find a plot of land. Just not here in California XD

Winter It's definitely a lot, so thank you <3 I'm the 7th generation of my family on our ranch :) 1 bull can breed ~25 cows per year. We have around 200 mama cows, so we usually have 9 bulls, just in case somebody gets hurt. It depends on what you breed for! We breed for meat, so our bulls generally have a lot of muscle, good skeletal structure, and a calm temperament for ease of being around them. We usually only breed bulls until they're around 7 years old, whereas cows are allowed to stay as long as they are fit, healthy, and happy :) We have several cows in the herd that are currently 14 and doing great! Sometimes we keep them for ourselves to butcher and eat; other times, they're sold at an auction and they do whatever! It just depends on who buys them. Butcher is definitely most common though. Especially in old cows that are lame (limping). It's what's best for them at that point

Fern Dang I do love beef especially ribs now I'm hungry :D I find it so amazing the dedication it takes to keep a farm together and raise all these animals so hats off to you and your family . So how does picking a bull work do you usually keep the same bull for a while then switch ? I take it once the girlies have retired from producing babies they get shipped off to become beef burgers too xD

Aris She was a storm crafted by chaos. A sand tan pup with inky black tendrils climbing up her legs and to the tip of her muzzle, a sharp snout topped with a liver nose, a cotton tail blanketed with midnight silk. She was beautiful. Paws firmly planted in fertile ground, her only grip to reality. Sharp eyes unparalleled by any other. She was special. Fluffy milk white wings caressing a furlined spine, glinting halo highlighting perked ears. And then she was gone | Alex (BD) Perfectly curved drops of tan endlessly dripping from golden eyes. Forever a reminder of a troubled past. Bones heavy with the loss of others yet the resilience laced through his muscles to carry on. Cream dipped paws quaking under the weight of the world on his shoulders. He was a warrior. Teeth bared and ready to rip apart enemies. He was a fighter. Shoulders hunched over the bodies of loved ones to protect them from the night. He was Alex. | Ariel
He was magnificent. A charming smirk lingering under the ocean expanse of his eyes. A runway of charcoal black leading to a glistening tan nose. Perked mismatch ears topping a mismatched body. All the colors blending together playing their own part in the symphony that was him. Ariel. | ||
Archie (Albino, Heavy Weight) Snow white fur like shimmering, spasming gold in the sunlight. A moist pink nose and light eyes that captured only shadows of his personality. Strong, reassured strides capturing the eyes of Jade. Forever lost but always found in the heart of the pack. Forever silent but howl still echoing through our halls. Forever cold but gaze still bringing warmth to those that see it. Lovers undeniably separated but Jade still whispering: Archie.< | Arwin (Erythrism) The clouds stretch lazily over the bluest sky I have ever seen. They open up their doors and allow sunlight onto the green grassy fields below. It smells like morning dew and freshly cut grass despite never having been mutilated by humans. The scent of a lone wolf laces between the wild blades. A blood red wolf sprawled out and sun baked, a smirk lightly pulling at his lips edge. The wind flutters between his fur and caresses the tips of his ears. Lazily it whispers, Arwin. | Arvin (Mela, Heavy Weight) "It whispers at night in children's ears, It finds and mimics your worst fears, It lays in wake in dark of night, It hunts and lurks but never bites, It grips your soul with pulsing strength, You are left dead in darkness' wake." ~Lux | ||
Arin (Albino, Heavy Weight) A million and one tear drops glistening under the moonlight. Snout stretching wide into the inky black sky. Rain pattering on wild grass and a 3 times hand-me-down pelt. Arin was someone I knew in another life. A wind chime howl eating away at my grief. Arin was someone I lost in this life. And he will be missed. | Jade (Battle, Starter) The first drop in a spasming sea. | Armond (Albino, Boost, 33R) | ||
