My case originated from nervousness, to nervous habits and tics, to OCD "rules" and invasive thoughts. When I explained it to my Mom, I really compared it to being like superstitious and a waste of an extra 3- 5 minutes.

Okay. I'm a bit confused on these family relations. So, if my pup is the daughter of Saphire, then that makes Azure her aunt and River and Alder her cousins as they are her pups, right? If so, then why are River and Alder cousins? Am I missing something/mixing something up or...?
