When your grandfather calls, refuses to speak in English, and the connection is horrible -

I only choked out two or three full Spanish sentences, and fragments here and there. He also has a deeper, gravely voice, and it's hard to understand him in English, much less Spanish . I s t r u g g l e d through that conversation.

I tried English in the beginning.
Him: You are not going to speak Spanish?

Me: .... I can try?

Him: Try.

Me: Claro, lo siento.

Him: Rapid Spanish speaking

Phone Connection: *haha nope*

Me: Internal screaming

Ha! now you know how I feel!

Oh- but speaking to grandparents is always a special time XD

My American grandma: rapid-fire speech with 'anyways' once every sentence.
My American Grandpa: whispy old man voice that I can barely hear with a good conection.
My German Grandma: TALKING. Talking. *two hours later* TaALkiNg. plus she uses the really old German Hessian- which ohohoho! you think normal Hessian is hard? HA!
German Grandpa: Dead. threw him in a blackhole when I was three- but I'm told he was funny and nice and maybe not impossible to understand XD

Doom isn't going to Doomland because my mom was getting too stressed and didn't feel like flying would be good and she then decided she didn't want to risk getting the virus.
