Okay- because I'm really proud of chapter 3 so far I'm showing you guys what I've written so far XD Ezren hadn’t slept well that night; the lights went out an hour after her food arrived, so she didn’t have much time to look through the entire bathroom for another vent, but she had found a good hiding spot for the knife that came with the food. It wasn’t exactly sharp, but better than nothing if she needed to defend herself.
When the lights went out she’d been unnerved, the memory of the pain in her neck and the strange dizziness right after still fresh in her mind even though she knew she was safe here; for the most part.
After she found the bed sleep never arrived. The room was deathly silent. Too quiet for her liking. She was always so used to the creaks of the metal shifting, the waves hitting the beams not too far below and the wind blowing against the walls. No matter what time it was Zenchra was never silent; but this? It felt like Therma had no sound, she would have thought she was deaf if it weren’t for her breathing, which compared to the stillness of the room was loud as thunder. She’d always imagined that being underwater she’d hear sounds of metal being crushed by the weight of it pressing down on it; but maybe they weren’t that deep?
She stared into the darkness for a while before her eyes started getting heavy, but no matter how much she twisted around, trying to find a comfortable position while keeping herself at a comfortable temperature, sleep never found her.
When her eyes finally closed and she thought she would finally fall asleep the lights turned on. They weren’t blinding at first, they started out dim and slowly got brighter, but soon enough they were so bright the white walls of her room seemed like they were shining too.
She sighed and pushed herself out of the bed; who knew what time it was or when this guard would arrive, she needed to at least take a shower.
She rubbed her eyes as she opened the bathroom door, yawning as she took off the dress… she hadn’t changed last night…
She stepped into the shower, the water purposefully set on a colder temperature to hopefully wake her up, yet even when goosebumps appeared on her arms from standing in the cold water for so long, her head still felt sluggish. Her eyes were already falling closed and she leaned her head against the wall of the shower, wondering if she could just fall asleep here; the lights weren’t as bright…
It felt like it took all her strength to straighten again and start washing herself, turning the water up to a warmer setting she started with the struggle of getting her thick hair wet enough to wash- that took at least ten minutes to get the back of her head and roots wet; her hair had been longer a couple years ago, reaching down past her shoulder blades when it was dry, and with its wavy texture it was even longer with the added weight of water. Now it just barely reached past her shoulders when it was dry and it still took forever to wash. Not to mention dry.
She stepped out of the shower and grabbed the closest towel, her hair already creating a puddle on the floor as she started rubbing it dry- or at least dry it enough to stop it from soaking her clothes when she put them on; it’d been months since she’d last had the time to dry her hair thoroughly.
Once she finished she finally looked into the mirror. The circles under her eyes weren’t as dark as she expected, they almost weren’t there. Though her gray-blue eyes did seem to have lost color since arriving here, making them seem even more gray. She’d never had long eyelashes, but they were thick, always making a dark line on her eyelids, the same was with her eyebrows, thin, thick and a stark contrast against her pale skin.
Sighing she opened the door and almost screamed. The cold water hadn’t woken her up, nor had accidentally getting soap in her eyes, but having once again a new stranger in her room while she barely had enough towel to cover herself made her heart race and eyes wide.
The stranger, a young man, with a more confidant posture than the last one who had brought the food, turned around when she entered but quickly looked away again, “Sorry, didn’t realize you weren’t ready.”
“Ever heard of fucking knocking?” usually she had more control over her anger, but having such little sleep her brain didn’t have the strength to keep her emotions in check, “get out!”
Surprisingly the young man just walked out without another word.
Who the hell did he think he was? Just walking into her room like that?
She walked over to the dresser, a dangerous scowl on her face as she shifted through the drawers, slamming them shut when she found that most of them were empty.
The only clothes were three gray leggings and six blue tops, two with long sleeves, two with short sleeves, two tank tops, some undergarments, and socks.
She took her time putting on the clothes which fit surprisingly well, and were quite comfy. She found the shoes she’d been wearing in Zenchra beside the dresser yesterday while she’d been searching for another went; apparently, they were okay for whatever these Therma people wanted her to do.
Sighing she walked over to the door and opened it, surprising herself when it actually opened.
A bright white hallway stretched far to her left and right, a door every couple feet to indicate new rooms; but everything was white and clean, that was for sure.
The young man from earlier was leaning against the wall; his brown hair seemed to have a golden touch, but that could just be from the many lights; he was on the taller side, six foot by the looks of it with broad shoulders.
The thing that caught her attention the most, besides his annoying smirk, were his eyes.
They weren’t as bright, but those were the same eyes that she had seen the night she’d been kidnapped. With so many lights and bright colors around his eyes looked like they were a lot darker, though they still seemed to have a rich emerald touch.
“You’re the one who kidnapped me.”
“And you’re the one who bit me” he lifted up his left hand, a small bandage on the index finger.
“Deserved it” her scowl returned; this better not be her guard, she could already tell he was insufferable.
“No; I really didn’t. It was still bleeding by the time I brought you to the sub, you’ve got some very sharp teeth; or strong bite force” he straightened himself and gave her his hand, the annoying smile still on his face.
“Finn O’Hara, your personal guard” she crossed her arms and continued to glare.
“I am sorry about earlier, I was told you seemed to be a bit… Defiant? So when you didn’t answer when I knocked I thought it’d be best to check; you came out right when I realized you were in the bathroom” he gave her a seemingly sincere smile, but she didn’t care. Right now, he was the bastard that kidnapped her, apologizing for that wouldn’t help.
When he realized she wasn’t gong to reply he smiled again, “Kelly told you about blue bloods, right?” her eyes narrowed in reply.
“I’ll take that as a yes. Anyways, we should probably get going if you don’t want to be late.”
“Lead the way” her voice was cold as she gave him a fake smile. Though he sighed his smile didn’t leave, instead he just started walking down the hallway to her right, she thought about running in the different direction, but if this place was anything like Zenchra she’d get lost after the first turn, plus he would probably catch up to her like he did the last time; she definitely didn’t want him to drug her again.
