But I mean- it is normal. Not everyone in the world is going to like you, doesn't matter how good or nice of a person you are.
I'm proof of that. I was treated like an outsider and disliked where I used to live just because I'm an atheist. You could be a superhero and save thousands of lives every day, and there'll still be one person (who isn't a villain) who just doesn't like you.

I haven't a clue why in the world people mistreat others just because they don't hold the same beliefs or lack thereof, and I'm really sorry you had to deal with. Most religions work on the basis of loving your neighbor, not disliking them because they're different. I guess I'm somewhat of a christian - I don't really know - and I wish I could apologize for the idiots of my religion that literally betray the most funadmental rule of christianity which is love your neighbor. I'm kinda ashamed to be christian half the time because of people like that.
