so
story time with starry -
here's some backstory real quick:
so, two of my friends and I decided to make a club in school. (It looks good on a college resume, we would get community service hours, and we'd get to hang out - win win win). We couldn't decide on anything in particular, but we all are athletes and play travel/club/soccer at a very high level. Easy solution: we would make a soccer club. So, we chatted, and are now making a club that involves organizing and running 3v3 mini soccer tournaments for high schoolers. There would be an entry fee for each team, and all proceeds would go towards food shelters to inner city Baltimore. We would hold a monthly used soccer gear drive for kids who don't have proper sports equipment, and do some meal packing and hands-on community service work once a month.
It must have been, oh, 6:55 p.m.. I was chilling, finishing up some assignments, the usual. I get a facetime call from a friend, and I pick it up - the conversation pretty much went like this:
her: "hey wanna work on the presentation"
me: "uhhh wut"
her: "yea so we need to finish and present a presentation through zoom by 8:00 or we can't pitch or idea do the comittee. I just realized it was today not tomorrow."
Mind you, it was 7:55.
We had one hour to create a whole presentation to pitch to the comittee.
So basically, we were screwed.
We can't get a hold of the third friend, so we started working on a google presentation by ourselves.
Then, suprise suprise, my computer and wifi crashed simultaneously, I glitched out google slides, and we lost all or our progress.
I didn't know that was possible, but I mean, okay.
So now my wifi isn't working, and I have to use my very, very slow hotspot on my iphone. And guess what? My iphone is at 2% and there's no charger in sight.
Whatever, I'd figure it out. Regardless, we needed to work on my presentation - so while my friend was spamming my other friend who was MIA, I created a google doc and started to write a script for a short info video for our club.
it was 7:15 or so.
We begin to work on it, and my friend realizes she needs to fill out three or so forms and email a few teachers. While she's doing that, I hear a sudden silence, which is never a good sign with my friend.
So apparantly she deleted a few stuff from other clubs on accident.
I told her to dive into the file history and copy and paste previous versions, and she did. We thought all was well until she tried to fix the now broken links, and deleted another few. I finished the script and we all disconnected to film our section of the video, and came back at 7:25 or so. My third friend, the one MIA, appeared, and then her computer crashed. I filmed her video for her just in case, and my phone died (which means no wifi because no more hotspot), so I had to wait for my phone to recharge. Then my friend facetimes me again.
So, turns out she deleted the entire sheet of the other club's links and presentation.
So uh, that's fun.
Did I mention my puppy just peed on the carpet?
She finally puts the movie together, but it won't upload.
And, hey, she manages to somewhat fix the links!
It's 7:40.
Then we all get hungry, and eat a few tacos or whatever.
7:50.
So I'm chilling with my half eaten tortilla because I didn't have time for tacos, and I remember that we don't actually have the zoom link. So we have to sift through a million emails to find who else in our class might have recieved the link. My friend snaps the two potential people, and I dive into the school directory to find their numbers. No luck, so I search a few years back in my text conversations to get one person's number, and she texts me the zoom link.
By the way, out video still hasn't uploaded.
7:55
ha. ha. ha. We're all somewhat panicking, but it's fine
7:58, one of my friend has to leave for sports practice.
7:59, I have to frantically take my dog out to the bathroom, and she chases a squirrel and I have to find her.
8:00, I'm officially late, but I got the puppy.
I manage to get on at around 8:05, and turns out we missed our turn to speak, so we have to chat with the director and I was an absolute diaster.
Then our audio cut out for the info clip for our club, and then the wifi was so bad that we froze the screen, and it was
just
no.
The end.
And then I had two hours to design a logo.
Fun.
