Well, for one- Those suckers are dangerous- One bite from their teeth can break a wild cat's legs! They also have a slight resistance to black mamba poison and are quick enough to evade getting bitten sooo- Those things are at a disadvantage too.

As for personality- Mongooses can either be selfish or cooperative. And they're usually adventurous, courageous, rebellious, social, and impulsive. So... Fairly similar to Aries, if I do say so myself. Plus, they can also be super generous, so...

Also the snake hunting. I feel like Ariethous really hates (Or, as much negative emotion he can conjure in his current state anyway) traitors and real underhanded and slippery folk.
