A lot of times high gen wolves are imbred or it is harder to check through the lines to make sure they stay clean lined. I personally don't care as I like battle wolves and breed mostly for talent, weight, and boosts, so most of my wolves are imbred to a certain degree. It just depends on if you want to breed for super clean quality lines and sell the pups to a wider market and whatnot

Any animal is accepted, though ones that aren't native to cold northern lands are much rarer, so there might be one Tiger compared to fifteen polar bear shifters just because of the terrain.
Shifters with animals not native to the north usually wouldn't want to go up there.
