If you don't want something stolen, you gotta bury it. Or if something gets stolen before you can bury it, then you can always PM the person who stole it and ask if they'll give it back. But they don't have to, by any means.

It's a random chance that you'll find a pack's den and steal something from them. You can't control who you come across and you can't control if/what you steal.
