Looking for co-hosts! ⚓️ [ introduction ] Mermaids are not a new thing to human kind. We have always been aware of their exsitence, skeptical or not, but in a universe where mermaids are real, they experience an unprecedented amount of hunting. Mermaids are valued for their beautiful tails, their unique anatomy, and lastly, the rich taste of mermaid tail broth that is considered a delicacy to mermaid hunters. [ general mermaid info ] Mermaids do not have to have a fish tail to be considered a mermaid. Maybe they can have a jellyfish or shark tail! Their tail reaches up to their waist line, but speckles of scales may show up on their skin. They have gills, webbed hands, and sharp teeth (if a mermaid is a herbivore or omnivore, then they will have flat molars). If your mermaid takes traits from a giant sea creature, feel free to make them giant! Same goes for small sea creatures. ⚓️ [ shallow water mermaids ] These mermaids take traits of tidal pool creatures, such as crabs, anemone, sea slugs, sea stars, and so on. This could be crab arms, anemone growing on their tail, or a sea slug tail! Their diet is omnivorous, although they mainly eat seaweed and sometimes, tidal pool creatures. Shallow water mermaids’ eyesight is much better than other species of mermaids, and can withstand the sun more. Their appearances are bright in color, almost to say “I am poisonous to touch!” Some mermaids may not be harmful, but others are! Shallow water mermaids make homes in coral reefs, and some may make homes out of anemones. ⚓️ [ mid water mermaids ] Mermaids from this depth take traits from whales, sharks, turtles, and other fish in this zone. These mermaids eat krill, smaller fish, and sometimes jellyfish! Although they are omnivorous, they eat mostly meat. Mid water mermaids’ eyesight is slightly less better than shallow water mermaids’, but much better than deep water mermaids’. Their pupils are larger so they can swim easily at night without fearing a predator coming up behind them. Their tails are often neutral toned, but mermaids with fish traits may have brighter tails if they swim in schools. These mermaids home themselves in caves and tunnels. ⚓️ [ deep water mermaids ] This species of mermaids take traits from squids, sharks, and other deep dark fish. They eat meat scraps that fall to the ocean floor, and while disgusting to other mermaids, it is a delicacy to them! Rarely, they will swim up to higher zones to feed if they cannot find food in their own area. Many of these mermaids have some sort of light source, like a lantern or glowing algae that they paint on their tail. They are also typically mild to severely blind, and use this lightsource to guide themselves through the sea. They home themselves in volcanic vents, or cave systrems. |

[ locations ] The Shelf A bar located at the sea shelf right off the edge of the shallow water zone. It lives in a repurposed, small cave system that is now decorated with lantern lights, seaweed hanging from the ceiling, and bar stools galore. This bar sells algae and krill drinks, seaweed inspired food, fish plates and foreign critters from tide pools. A good place to wind down at the end of the day, with low lighting and a calm atmosphere. The Reef Home to many shallow and mid-water depth mermaids. A neighborhood of homes, with some stores scattered through. Mermaids in this area take advantage of the colorful appearance of the reef and use it also as a hiding place from predators. ⚓️ [ rules ] - You are allowed to create new locations, but please DM a creator first for approval!

- Please do not make an overpowered character, be as realistic as you can with a mermaid.
- Add your favorite fish in the “other” section of your character profile.
- Be at least semi-lit, and 200+ characters per post.
- Cursing is allowed, but please time skip smexy scenes.
- One post at least every three days.
- If you decide to leave the RP, please let a creator know and we will send humans to fish your mermaid from the sea!
- Despite there being humans in the universe, no humans are allowed!
- Reservations last up to 4 days.

Name Inanna Age 23 Sexuality Panrom/Omnisex Gender + Pronouns Cis Female, She/Her Species Lionfish Job (not required) Potion/Venom Specialists Personality Ina is very focused on her work and often sarcastic. She can come across to many as rude and unbothered. She forgets things easily and gets distracted frequently. Prone to mistakes and often clumsy, though always meaning well. Appearance She has tanned honey skin and ginger hair, streaked with white and black. Her eyes are a bright amber and lined with long red lashes. She usually wears a black cloth over her chest wrapped with decaying rope. Down her sides are huge frills, similar to the smaller ones on her elbows. She has a long striped tail with flowing fins on each side, ending in a large feather like frill assortment. Her back and decorated with venomous spines that she hangs goods on; like little jewels and miscellaneous ropes. Other Plecos! |

Name: Ryuk Age: 21 or so Sexuality: Gay/Homosexual Gender + Pronouns: Masculine, He/Him/His Species: Mako Shark Job (not required): Doctor/Healer Personality: Hot - headed, to put it mildly. Ryuk is, for lack of a better way to phrase it, “all bark and all bite”. He’s bitter about being forced to be a healer, angry that he’s not able to hunt and protect like other predator-leaning mermen, and god dammit he’s grumpy even on the best of days! However, when it comes to his fellow merfolk, he is fiercely loyal and protective. After all, they’re all he has now. His parents were poached by humans, and though they tried to take him too all they did was blind him with their chemicals. He was alone until the other merfolk found him, and he feels he could never repay that debt to his new found family (But he’s gonna damn well try). He loves and cherishes all they’ve done for him, but every time he tries to express his gratitude the words get caught in his throat. Although Ryuk is an angry, grouchy bitch, he has a soft spot for gardening, and will spend most of his time out in the seagrass or in his medicine cave, tending to his anemones with the hint of a smile on his lips. Wait, what? No, he’s not smiling! Shut up! Ryuk is prone to getting into fights, petty squabbles with other predators, but he has a profound respect for the merfolk that occupy both the Shelf and the Reef, and tries to curb his temper around them. He tries, but he’s usually not successful. Damn his sarcastic ass for never shutting up. He’s the kind of healer who will bitch at you the entire time he’s bandaging your wounds, but will still give you a lollipop at the end for being good. His gentle hobbies have given him a softer edge, which only a few close friends have caught a glimpse of. He tries to curb his temper and his foul mouth around the younglings, leading to him coming up with some rather creative insults and curse words. The younglings find this hilarious, much to his anger. When not working or gardening, Ryuk is usually training. He may be a healer, but he’d be damned if he couldn’t defend himself. Especially due to his limited mobility. Appearance (may be substituted for pictures): Ryuk is the full angsty package. Soft, inky blue-black hair that he has to bind back with a woven seaweed hair tie when he’s hunched over his patients. Narrow milky blue eyes that almost seem to pierce right into you, even though they are marred by a large burn covering his eyes, starting from the right temple and crossing over the bridge of his nose to end at the tip of his left cheekbone. He has thin face with an angular jawbone, cheekbones high and graceful. A barely there scar curling up from the corner of his top lip, small but oh so noticeable when he smiles. More scars crisscross his body, but he never explains where they came from. He has pale skin, and his blush reaches from the tips of his ears to the tip of his navel. He looks like a goddamn tomato when he’s flustered. Larger than most merfolk but small for a shark, with a lithe muscular body, deceptively thin and willowy until you’re at the brunt of his ire, and he wallops you with a surprisingly strong punch to the gut. He, much like his species of shark, is built for speed - not strength. His long navy blue shark tail is finned and streamlined to give him the edge he needs to move quickly when he needs to. He has delicate webbing between his fingers, as well as on the tips of his pointed ears. His teeth are sharp and fierce, but he has a snaggletooth that peaks out from his lips even when they are closed. In terms of his blindness, I would say he is considered legally blind by human standards but can discern basic shapes and colors. He mainly relies on water currents, scents, and sounds to navigate. He was training to be a hunter or warrior before his accident, but cannot be one now. Other: I imagine Ryuk’s medicine/healer/doctor cave (whatever you wanna call it) is located right on the edge of the Shelf, overlooking the Reef, and it’s open to any merfolk that may need aid. Also my favorite sea creature is the Lemon Shark or Pufferfishes. |

major major WIP just putting my newborn infant here so i remember - Name Colette Age 43 Sexuality Pansexual, panromantic Gender + Pronouns Intersex // She/Her Species Shallow Water | "Nembrotha aurea" (she is a cool and awesome sea slug) Job (not required) official job to be decided. currently selling her own poison for funsies Personality major WIP cryre. expect this to evolve like 7 times Colette is laidback and honestly, kind of lazy. She just cannot be bothered to do things if they aren't urgent or something that concerns her specifically. That's not to say she's a deadweight, because she will do things... eventually... she just needs proper motivation. Which she rarely has. She's very patient though. Her capacity for forgiveness is unmatched. It's almost like she's incapable of feeling offended about anything, or feeling frustrated about anything, or feeling anything negative at all. She's not happy, all sunshine and rainbows, but she's very down-to-earth and unbothered by almost anything. The only real thing that worries her is humans, but she's found enough escape routes in her time, she might stand a chance. Colette adores babies. She had two of her own, but then they went and grew up. Give her a small child and she will be energetic and easily excitable for once. Will gladly tend to your nursery for a week, or a month, or however long you need. She hates herself for this but she is exactly the type to turn on a weird baby voice whenever she sees one. Colette also loves adventuring and meeting other mermaids. Likes leaving the shallow waters on occasion to see other species and be amazed at how different the ocean gets the further she goes in. The world is so different down here, and she didn't even know her kind could get that big, or glow, or anything. It amazes her every time. She's kind of shy despite her old age and eagerness to meet other mermaids. You have to approach her first, but once you get past the initial awkwardness she will talk your ear off. Doesn't try to be annoying and usually gets distracted by something before she can be, but yknow. Appearance Colette has a long, sea slug tail. It's not poisonous unless she wants it to be, so usually, it's safe and very soft to touch. She has a space in her home where she often lets it be poisonous, just so she can harvest all of it and sell it later. She's more on the doughy side, with a soft face and heavy eyelids. Her eyes are yellow. Her face itself is pretty ambiguous, having slightly masculine features like a strong nose and a stronger brow ridge, but also being round and feminine all the same. Depends on the lighting, she guesses. She has dimples and deep laugh lines from age. Her skin is dark tan, with many freckles from being so close to the surface. Her hair is long and blue, starting dark blue and fading to cyan. A younger Colette obsessively cut it to be at chin-length, but now she's letting it go, and as of now it's reaching her upper back. Overall Izzy is an extremely patient one and is fine to listen to anyone ranting or talking for hours. Most people think she is incapable of getting angry and violent and has never done any violent behaviors. The only time she would ever get violent would be if one of her loved ones were hurt than she wouldn't hold back. . Children like really young ones so babies or toddlers are her weaknesses and she loves them with all her heart. One day Izzy would love kids of her own although she would rather adopt them than have biological kids for reasons. . She is extremely good at acting like hiding her emotions pretending and lieing are like extremely easy for her. She can switch from different emotions in the blink of an eye. ♆ HUGE WIP .
