Whisp entered the den's clearing, where several pretty wolves were milling about, showing off their magic skills or cleaning. He saw his sister covered in leaf and vine bandages, being lead by his older siblings. He flattened his ears, lowering his head. What he didn't need right now was her being obnoxious and his siblings' scornful eyes. He trotted past them, towards the Main Den.

Peering his head in, he called out. "Mother?"

Glowing globes of pure magic lined the floors of the den, filling it with a warm, soft light. One of the gifts of the Alpha, Butterscotch Swirl.

He saw his mother laying down among a pile of scrolls, one of which was rolled open. A silver and hickory pup laid beside her, a peregrine falcon perched on her head, peering at Whisp and Adina with dark brown eyes. It was the new pup, introduced to the pack a couple of days ago. Love Is A Dagger, he believed. His mother was murmuring words to the pup, who yawned sleepily and curled up. The falcon hopped down, cuddling in between the pup's paws.

His mother stood, gently shaking off the moss that clung to her fur, and gave the pup a quick lick on the head. She turned and spotted her son. "Whisper," she said softly, nodding. She trotted towards him, and he backed out of the cave. Better to let the pup sleep.

"My apologies, my son. Lamentis demanded me to read to her," she said, flicking one ear to the pup. She scanned behind Whisp, and he felt his heart jolt as he thought Frost had followed them.

"Where is the cat?" she said, and Whisp let out a sigh.

"We left him behind," he said sheepishly, before quickly correcting himself at her thunderous expression.

"B-but for good reason, Mother! After Frost attacked Karma, he said something like, "Mess with the cat, you get the claws," and then he mentioned someone named Mia and three annoying furballs," he said, gasping for breath. Truth looked at him with a curious expression.

Whisp glanced back at Adina, and she nodded, bumping his snout with her head. "We think he may have killed his family," he finished, turning back to look at his mother. Her expression shifted, ever so slightly, but he caught it.

It was a look of sadness, of disbelief.

A look of fear.

Frost had just emerged from fighting the stickers just in time to have missed the whole conversation. The cat shook out his fur to clear it of any stray branches. He strolled on up right through the front of the pack, dark grey fur and piercing eyes staring over at Karma. Karma was really being over the top with her injuries, he didnt even push all his strength into it. The feline then turned to Whisp. Frost jumped atop Whisps back, and flexed his claws on the males back. A smirk rested on his face. He was proud of himself for the damage done to Karma. Grumbling, he stared back towards Truth.

"Wait up!" The yappy mutt called, chasing skillfully after her mother. Her mother would slow down to a trot. "You've got to go faster if you want to live alone one day, Honeysuckle," The pups mother explained before dashing off, leaving the pup alone. Honeysuckle let out a whimper of fear before running off to the pond she knew was inside the forest.

Whisp froze, Adina whirling around in a fury as the cat landed on her partner's back. A lump formed in Whisp's throat as Frost's claws dug into his skin. Truth stared directly at the cat, her tail lashing, and drew herself up taller. Adina began to hiss, puffing up as she backed closer to Whisp's head. Her wings hovered halfway open, ready to launch into the air if Frost made any moves.

The wolves around noticed what was happening, and were watching curiously, murmuring to themselves. However, the Alphas were nowhere to be seen.

"Frost. I must ask you to kindly get off of my son and sheath your claws," she said calmly, her blue eyes glinting dangerously.

The dove was knocked aside, letting out a coo. She tried to right herself midair, but she was flailing too much and fell against a rock, hitting her head. She was knocked out instantly, her feathers fluttering as she settled. Whisp's eyes flew wide, and he flinched in the direction of her, before freezing, remembering Frost. "Adina!" he cried, his throat clenching. Tears welled up in his eyes, knowing he couldn't make sure she was alright without endangering himself. Damn his selfish curse!

A she-wolf with a coyote pelt, white markings, and large deer antlers rushed towards Adina, pressing her ear to the bird's chest. She gently picked up the bird in her maw, and rushed to the nearest cave, Whisp watching with a pained expression.

Truth's steely gaze never left the feline.

"I will ask you once more, cat. Leave my son."

Truth dodged at the last second, causing Frost to land on her muzzle. She let out a growl, trying to snap at the cat. Iris, her blue parakeet, dove at Frost's eyes, chirping frantically.

Like the coward he was, Whisp hung back, staring in horror at what was going down. Was this cat hoping to kill his entire family?

A collective roar sounded from behind him.

"Mother!"

Three blurs shot past Whisp, one brown and two a sort of reddish-orange. All three circled his mother, snarling and snapping at Frost but being careful not to bite their mother. The other wolves surged forward, instantly assessing the threat and wanting to surround the cat in case he decided to flee.

Whisp, however, hung back, his ears pressed flat to his skull. He glanced to the cave where his mother came from and saw the same hickory and silver pup from before staring in fear at the swarming mass of draconic wolves. His heart lurched, and he realized that Frost might go after her next, simply because she was a pup. He rushed towards her, grabbed the scruff of her neck in his jaw, and fled towards his secret hiding place towards the mountains. Lamentis yelped, but as she realized Whisp meant her no harm, quieted and stilled.

Whisp's heart ached, missing Adina dearly. He hoped Fawn would be able to wake her soon, before Frost got to them.

Frost made a hiss-yowl sound as his fur poofed up and he scrambled to get a good hold as he kicked at the wolves that snapped at him. He watched as the parakeet came for him, so the male flung his head backwards and clenched his eyes shut. The feline dodged one of the wolves by pulling his legs up, but went to swipe at another one of them and lost balance. He fell to the ground, stumbling because of an old wound that had reopened on his leg.

Dashing to try and escape Frost realized that he was trapped: the only way out was to go between the legs of the surrounding wolves or he'd have to fight. Deciding to fight, he leaped backwards and used a rock to give him a boost up onto the back of the smaller, brown wolf. Using his move again Frost clung to the back of their neck, hoping the others wouldnt come for him again while he quickly caught his breath- eyes darting rapidly to see his threats.
