I JUST WANT A NEW PAGE ALREADY SO I DON'T HAVE TO LOOK AT THE GIANT CLUMP OF CHARI SHEETS ;0; -------- Dee couldn't help herself. She snorted at the sound of their new neighbor falling into his door, and real laughter threatened to spill out. Nikolai gave Dee a look, and the teen was quick to attempt to stifle it, so she didn't get an even more disappointed face later on. Then, the door opened, and the Pavlishchevs were greeted by their new neighbor, and a room that looked as if a hurricane had swept through it. Dee had to hand it to her father; he recovered way quicker than her, and didn't even blink before greeting their new neighbor with his patented Dad Smile™. Meanwhile, Dee was barely keeping her mouth from gaping open. "Ah! Welcome to the neighborhood! I'm Nikolai, and this is my daughter..." Nikolai paused, and turned towards Dee, letting her introduce herself. The prompt startled Dee away from gawking, and she hurried to say something, "I'm Dee. Um. Welcome, and stuff." Nikolai took over then, lifting the bowl of food slightly, "We brought over some food, since moving day can be rough. Feel free to come over any time if you need any help with unpacking, or just general neighborhood things! Our door is always open."

Nova's smile slowly became less forced as he grew into his role as a human. For many alien races across the galaxy, ears were used to tell the emotions of others, humans were a rare exclusion from this social norm due to their tiny ears. So, smiling was pretty unnatural for an alien like Nova, whose normally long, pointed ears easily gave away his emotions without the whole smiling bit involved. Learning all the different facial expressions had been challenging to put it simply. "Ah thank you very much!" Nova grinned as he took the bowl from Nikolai's hands, as he took it he realized that perhaps the other man hadn't been offering the food yet and panic settled in as Nova hoped that he hadn't already messed up. "That is very kind of you, and it is such a pleasure to meet my new neighbors! Thank you for your words and offer," Nova looked back into his home where the unpacked boxes loomed menacingly, "I might just need it." His ears twitched as he automatically attempted to lower them, the alien version of a grimace.

Nikolai laughed politely, "Yes... You certainly seem to have a lot on your hands. Everyone in the neighborhood has been curious about the new neighbors moving in, so don't be surprised if a person or two drop in later today or tomorrow." "Everyone is super nice, except for the Smiths," Dee spoke up, although her nose scrunched up in annoyance as she thought of the angry couple, "They live in the red brick house at the end of the street. They-" "Sasha!" Nikolai scolded, interrupting his daughters (admittedly true) assessment of the Smiths -an elderly couple who hated children, and therefore, hated the Pavlishchevs. "What?" Dee mumbled, "They're mean and you know it, Папа. You always say I should tell the truth." Nikolai turned back toward their new neighbor, the polite smile now edged with fondness for his daughter, "Sorry about that. The Smiths don't like children, so that makes my kids not huge fans of them.... Anyway! We won't waste more of your time. Again - come over if you ever need anything! Doesn't matter how big or small." As if realizing how long they've been there, Nikolai straightened, "Ah - we'll better get out of your hair now," Nikolai chuckled lightly, a small huff, "Sasha, you can stop gripping the cookie plate like a lifeline." "...Oh. Right. Here, then. Nice to meet you, Mr. ....?" Dee ended off the sentence like a question, realizing that she didn't know what their new neighbor's name was.

The interactions between father and daughter entranced Nova, never before had he seen such an easygoing, yet respectful relationship. His relationship with his daughter was good, at least for his standards since he wasn't quite sure what a proper father-daughter relationship looked like. This easygoing manner in which Nikolai and Dee spoke was pleasant and a welcomed difference compared to his own experiences. He looked forwards to seeing more human relationships in the future. "Ah," Nova startled, "my apologies I should have introduced myself sooner. My name is Nova Vihaan, you don't have to call me Mr. though, just Nova is fine. My daughter, Daralis but I call her Dara, will be moving in soon too. I'll be sure to introduce her when she arrives." Nova gave the duo before him another smile (he was getting pretty good at this whole facial expressions thing) "but yes I should be going now. These boxes won't get unpacked by themselves, "Nova chuckled. Now technically that was a lie but he was pretty sure human technology wasn't good enough yet for things such as automatic decorations. Most of the boxes were actually just empty and only there for show, his actual items would be teleported in.

Nikolai knew exactly what his daughter was thinking, since he could safely assume that they were on the wavelength: the new neighbor acted like he had never interacted with a person before. His attempt at a smile was more like a grimace, and his eyes were terrifyingly dead. Yet, his voice was pleasant enough, and his tone seemed genuine, so Nikolai decided to chalk it up to a tiring move and social awkwardness, and simply ignore it. Dee, however, only met Nova's awkwardness with some of her own special brand of teenage bumbling and gracelessness. "Nice... names. Yes. That... is a cool name! Very cool. Enjoy the cookies. Goodbye!" And with that perfectly executed farewell, Dee gave Nova a thumbs up and a matching 'smile.' Nikolai internally facepalmed. Sometimes he forgot how socially inept Dee was with adults - although, to be fair, he also had the same problem at times. "Well," Nikolai started, deciding to ignore everything Dee just said, "Bye, Nova. C'mon Sasha, lets go home." -- [End Scene] LMAO

Nova nodded at Sasha's words, believing fully that he had convinced both father and daughter that he was human. "Yes! It was so nice to meet you both. Goodbye!" And with that the alien closed the door, his smile fading almost immediately. It was such an unnatural movement, he was concerned about human facial muscles. They must have torn many times in order to constantly seem so happy with their little human smiles. Ears were infinitely better than mouths when explaining emotions. ~~~ Ts?
