If she doesn't like being handled, don't palpate so as not to stress her. Go ahead and put the nestbox in wherever you keep her. Just somewhere where she can access. Make sure she has extra hay and straw to build her nest with. Some does like to start nesting early, some right before, and some are the worst mothers and never do.
