Biography Death does not discriminate between the sinners and the saints, it takes and it takes, and we keep living anyway...
Kolumbus laid in his bed, his joints creaking as he sat up.
"My death day is coming..." He rasped, his voice like gravel. He remembered when he was a young boy, a young lad who had come to the kingdom seeking refuge and food. The king of that time had brought him in like family. Then the King and Queen had left unexpectedly, leaving their son Titus in charge. He was a fair leader, and Zanthe ruled well with him, but Otos had always been jealous of Titus and now that jealousy was turning into red seething hatred. The other day Otos had tried to kill Titus, but the king had shot the Duke instead. Kolumbus wished he could intervene between the two quarreling men, but sadly he was bed ridden for his last days of life.
"Earl Kolumbus...?" There was a timid knock on the door as a brown skinned woman stepped in, her long red hair pulled back in a braid. Kolumbus blinked his old pink eyes, smiling slightly and chuckling.
"Princess, come, sit down." He patted next to him and the princess nervously sat next to him, handing him a tray of hot soup, a glass of water, and a piece of Texas toast. The Earl began nibbling at the toast hungrily.
"What did you want me to sit for, Kolumbus?" Sabados asked timidly, her hands curling over each other. Kolumbus set his toast down and looked at the young princess.
"My death day is upon me, Sab." Sabados nodded, her eyes filled with grief. They had been close friends ever since Sabados had come into the kingdom, and each day with growing age Sabados was getting more and more concerned for her elderly friend. "I'm leaving everything I own to you."
"What?! Kolumbus, are you sure?! Leave it to Amadeus, or King Titus, I do not deserve your riches!" Kolumbus chuckled and sighed, eating the soup slowly.
"You do, for one day you will make a fine queen, and Theodosia will make an excellent King." Sabados' eyes brightened at the name of her boyfriend, smiling intently. "I do not think that Wolfgang would make a good king, he is too quick to make a fuss." Sabados nodded. "Theodosia is slow to anger and he is good at negotiation, also he is very handsome. One day you two will make beautiful children." Sabados blushed and nodded, standing up with a bounce and kissing Kolumbus' cheek.
"Thank you Kolumbus, I will always remember you!" Kolumbus smiled as the princess skipped out of the room, then he laid back down and groaned.
"I sure hope someone will..."
