Biography
A she-wolf writhed and wriggled in her sleep, twitching among the soft bed of ferns she lay on. "No... No...", she muttered in her sleep. She jolted awake, her heart racing. She panted, grateful to be awake from her nightmare. Nonchalantly, she reached down and licked the patch of bare skin on her side where no skin grew, a scar from just another of her terrible childhood memories.
The she-wolf had no name; but the loners who knew her, thy called her Lost. And the name suited her, sadly enough. She had no one, and nothing. She had never met her birth parents; her surrogate mother, a fox who had saved her from starvation, had abandoned her; and so had her brother. Everyone she had ever cared about had left her. She had no idea why, and she spent many a night staring up at the sky, wondering where they were now, and what she had done wrong.
She had never met her biological parents, but her surrogate mother had abandoned her and her brother. They had traveled together for a time, until they were separated by an earthquake. He had left her, and promised to come back for her... but he never had. She had waited for him for two months, never leaving that spot, hardly finding enough food to survive. One night, a terrible thunderstorm struck, and a bolt of lightning caught a tree on fire. The tree fell, and soon the entire valley was engulfed in flames. All of this happened while she was sleeping; she awoke to find her temporary home ablaze. She fought her way out of the fire, earning herself a terrible burn on the haunch as a souvenir of that terrible night.
Once the fire was put out, she returned to the scorched valley. There was not one sign of life in there; she could never survive here. She would have to leave, and that meant her brother would never find her. If he ever bothered to come back, that is. She had given up hope after the first month; she had no idea why she still waited for him. So she left.
Nowadays, she often wanders the forest alone, in her sad state. Almost every night, she is haunted by nightmares of her troubled puphood. She had just awoken from her latest one, when she heard a rustling in the bushes. She looked up, and before her stood a male wolf whom she had never seen before. His eyes glowed yellow, with a sort of crazed glare in them. Froth foamed from his mouth, and his pelt was ragged and torn. "Mm... dinner," he mumbled in a hysterical voice, a creepy grin forming on his face. He lunged for the she-wolf, but she dodged, and ran.
She ran as fast as she could,trying to get away from him. She ran for miles, and he pursued her every step of the way. She had no idea what he wanted from her, why she had become his target, but she knew this: He was infected with the foaming mouth disease, what housedogs sometimes called rabies. Her life was in danger. She had seen hide nor hair of him for several days, so she decided to rest for the night. He found her in her sleep, and attacked. She fought violently, but he was strong. He overthrew her, and pinned her down. "I've got you now, my pretty," he said, spittle flying from his lips. She smelled his foul breath as he leaned down to sink his fangs into her neck. She thought it was the end for her, but then something wonderful happened.
A huge male leaped from the bushes, sending the diseased one to the ground. He sank his fangs into his throat, and ended the suffering wolf's life with one quick tear. He turned to the female, panting. "Are you alright?" he asked. As soon as she saw his face, realization dawned in her heart. She saw recognition in his eyes as he, too, realized. "Brother," she whispered. "I thought I'd never see you again." The two joined together in an embrace. "I'm called Cody now," he said. "What are you called?"
"I don't have a name... but I've always liked Akira," she replied. "Akira it is, then," he said, grinning. "I'm the Alpha Male of a pack now; you can come live with us! Come on!" Akira then joined her brother's pack, and forgave him for leaving her. Now she lives happily among her new pack and family
