Biography
WARNING: This bio page contains pup death via murder, and a cruel Alpha.
Gavina was born into a large pack, with a single Alpha whose mate had run away long before she was born.
Her parents were Eamon, the pack Beta, and Perla. She had three brothers: Oslo, Fidel, and Judd.
When they were a couple months old, Eamon was attacked by the Pack Alpha, Abigor, for defying him when he insisted on Perla leaving him and the pups to be with him.
Scared, Perla agreed to be with him if he let Eamon live. Abigor agreed to take the deal, and had Perla give the pups to another nursing wolf, Ambeika.
Though those loyal to Eamon tried to heal him, he eventually passed from infection and a poor mental condition. Perla was engaged by this, and tried to fight Abigor for her pups back.
As punishment, the pack was forced to watch him kill Judd and Fidel. He was going to kill her and Oslo as well, but Ambeika stopped him by convincing him that to kill all of them would be making his own grave; the pack would not stand for it.
Reluctantly, he let Gavina and Oslo, four months old, live, but told Ambeika her only job was to feed them. She was not allowed to raise them like her own, or train them. Nobody was.
Life went on, with Oslo and Gavina depending only on each other. At six months, they began teaching themselves how to hunt and fight. At one point, there was a rebellion against Abigor but it failed and the rebels were either killed or chased out.
At a year old, there was a brief moment during the spring when Abigor was struck by a horrible sickness. He spent nearly a month hidden from the pack as he refused to have them see him weak and unwell. During this time, there was a rampant period of secret rebellion.
Perla, who was forbidden from entering Abigor's den, enlisted several other wolves to teach Gavina, Oslo, and many other pups extensive hunting, fighting, and herbal techniques. The pack worked together to strengthen each other's bonds with each other and their own knowledge.
Then, when the Healers reported that Abigor's condition was improving, the pups said goodbye to their allies. Ambeika and the yearlings (her own included) left the pack and ran as far as they could.
Perla couldn't stay because she had power over Abigor, as much as he denied it. She would be able to prevent him from tracking them down.
But being the only adult with seven yearlings was hard. As much as they'd tried to teach the pups, months of malnutrition and poor physical conditioning had left Ambeika with basically no help. They could barely hunt, and they could not fight.
Ambeika died less than a week after they fled the Pack. She was killed fighting off a bear that had killed and eaten one of her pups while they were exploring the forest.
Oslo and Gavina, older than Ambeika's remaining six, took them and fled into the nearby plains. They temporarily took refuge with another pack (unknowingly, this was actually Aruna's pack, but none of them know this yet as it was right after she'd left) but when it became hard to find enough resources for all the pups they were kindly told that they had to move on.
They continued on the plains until they ran into another pack. Though they asked, they were told they could stay with them. The group moved on, but realized too late that they'd been followed by the patrol. A fight broke out, and Oslo was badly hurt while several of the pups were killed before the patrol suddenly stopped their massacre and returned home.
Gavina and Ambeika's remaining three tried to help Oslo, but soon simply settled down with him as he had lost too much blood. He passed away, and they reluctantly left the bodies and continued on, eager to get as far away from that pack as they could.
Depressed and sad, they wandered right into the campsite of a small group, a mated pair and their new born litter of seven. The pair took them in and swore to protect them. They were taught to hunt properly, how to swim, and more defensive battle techniques. While this happened, the yearlings eagerly helped them raise the pups.
But Gavina didn't like it there. In the attempt to live, everything she'd loved had been lost. She felt like she was bad luck, and that her presence would get them all killed. The death of one of the pups due to a eagle just cemented this belief in her head. She said her goodbyes, promised she'd try to visit, and left on her own.
She eventually found a small, abandoned den. Deciding to stay there, she established a small territory and found some semblance of peace.
One day while patrolling her border, Bertil and Aruna passed by. Noticing that Aruna was heavily pregnant, Gavina asked them where they were headed. Thus they joined her.
