"What do you think you're doing?" snarled a voice. Sia turned around slowly.
"Collecting c-comfrey," replied Sia quietly. The older white wolf's age-tinged muzzle was stained with blood that smelled of wolf. His lips drew back in a vicious snarl.
"This pack is not one of your medicine-herb packs," he spat. "If you cannot follow our ways, we will not allow you to stay in our pack. Understood?" he snarled.
Sia stepped back a pawstep, stung.
"I cannot follow your ways. My pawsteps lead me somewhere other than killing and fighting. I am sorry." The she-wolf replied bravely.
The old wolf narrowed his eyes. "Very well. You are no longer welcome here. Get out before I rip your throat out," he spat.
Sia raced off of the territory, her fleeing tail trailing behind her in a mad rush. Her pawsteps thudded; the scent of her birthpack fading behind her. Panting, she stopped slowly and looked over her shoulder. There was no sign of the old wolf or any others.

Sia sighed. She'd been wandering for hours. Nightfall was approaching. Sia had never knew her parents; but older wolves sometimes told of two wolves that mated between packs and had a single she-wolf pup; a black one with brown ears and light gray splotches. Their names were unknown, but soon after the story was told, news spread of the killing of them. Sia had been an orphan and knew that those wolves had to have been her parents. She often wondered what she would have been like if she had had parents. Would she have been a different wolf? She didn't know, but a new scent broke her thoughts like a fallen leaf landing delicately on the surface of a puddle. She lifted her muzzle and figured that it was another pack's territory. Just then, the bushes rustled and a grayish male stepped out.
"Who are you and what do you want?" he asked, but his tone was not hostile. Sia paused.
"I'm Sia. I was banished from my pack," she confessed. The gray wolf narrowed his eyes.
"Why?"
"I... I like healing herbs. I am very good with them. But my pack does not appreciate that.. well, my former pack that is." She replied sadly.
"I am Rain On Gray Rock, but call me Rain. I can take you to my alpha; Dark Rock That Crumbles; and see if he can do anything for you."
Rain pricked his ears.
"Thank you," sighed Sia. Her paws ached from walking so far.

Sia was renamed Black Sky At Midnight. "I do not want anything to do with my former pack," she stated when Dark asked if she would like a new name in honor.
Black fell in love with Dark, and he did as well. There was no medicine wolf or alpha female at the time; the alpha female left and the medicine wolf passed away. She was accepted into the pack as full medicine wolf and the alpha female when she and Dark were declared mates. They had three pups and now, Black knows that this is where she belongs.
