Biography Puppyhood
She watches from a distance- Koda the alpha female circle her territory with confidence, tail held high along with her head. Casey mimicked her, trotting around the nearby pond, keeping a close eye on Koda.
Casey tripped suddenly, falling into the luckily shallow pond, springing out seconds later and shaking dry.
"Koda," A deep voice said in the distance.
Casey's curiosity also drew her closer to the alphas, Koda and Kylo sitting next to each other.
"Have you been thinking about the next alpha to take your place?" Kylo asked.
"Yes," Koda replied shamefully.
"You don't need to plan so far ahead, Koda. We've got a long time to think of this."
"I know that, I just can't help but worry. This is our pack, and I don't want it to crumble when we're gone."
"The pack knows your rules, Lana is beta, she'll take your place until your pups grow up if you're worried about that."
"But if I do leave them behind-"
"I'd take care of them, too if I outlived you. Lana and Wildfire would become the alphas and I'd stay behind to watch the young ones."
"You would teach them to be great alphas, and the yearlings, you'll help me teach them, too, right?"
"You know I'm going to help. No reason I wouldn't."
"Thank you. I've just been so stressed lately."
"I understand."
Casey thought to herself, maybe I will become an alpha some day. I would be like Alpha Koda, kind, strong, smart.
Adolescence
Casey has grown to become a young adult, enjoying her first ever hunt where she wasn't spectating. Upon her return, the pack feasted upon their catch.
Later, Casey returned to her favorite spot, the pond, and recalled how Koda fought that day during the hunt. She began to practice other moves and strategies silently, following her goal to improve.
Huntress
Casey was a huntress, after several years. She had learned so much in her time, but envied Champagne, who had caught on and improved far quicker than herself. Casey understood she was the second pup to ever join the pack, so she didn't get as much training as Champagne, but she didn't dwell on it. She continued to work.
The Hope To Become Beta
Casey sat back by a tree, watching her pack mates, particularly Beta Lana- the wolf Casey aspired to be.
Casey was close, but very far from her goal. She began to disappear at night, returning sometimes with prey, other times without. The rest of the pack was unsure of where the prey came from.
One night, Casey ventured out to the forest. On her way, she felt like she was being watched.
She began to growl, her fur spiking up to make her look like a bear. Her tail flicked from side to side, lips pulled back, and claws dug into the mud.
The unknown animal copied Casey just before it lashed out against her. The battle ended shortly, Casey had clearly won as her fur only had a few stains.
A soft whimper came from the defeated animal, which Casey immediately noticed was Alana's.
"Alana? What are you doing out here?"
"Casey-?"
"Why did you attack me, Alana?"
"I was scared- Casey, I was afraid. I didn't know it was you- you never growl. I was afraid-"
"That makes two of us, Alana. I was afraid, too."
"I'm sorry, Casey."
"It's fine, but- why are you out here?"
"I was trying to hunt-"
"I was too."
"We should hunt together... Maybe both of us can get better, and maybe we'll get more prey for the pack-"
We shouldn't- prey is hard enough as it is... Alana's been hunting, I've been hunting... as long as we don't get caught.
"Yes," Casey nodded.
Loss of A Friend
Casey sat by the pond alone at night. Her friend she had known for the entire age of the pack- her closest friend during puppyhood.
She licked at the pond water, watching the ripples fade away.
"She lived a long time, though. She was happy," Casey mumbled, trying to feel better.
Mother
Casey took excellent care of her pups. She even offered to take care of Emery's puppies when she needed it. Emery did the same for Casey. The two were happy to be parents after all their lives.
