It had been 15 years since the birth of The Lost Prince to Queen Solas Bron. Tine was told she could never have another child. There was no question of sending him away. Queen Irafel, fierce and stern as she was taken with the boy, and decided to make use of him. He would be trained as Champion of the Royal Family, to defend and protect them from enemies. He had full access to the castle, could give orders to everyone save his family, make important decisions. Yet he was a servant to his family. If anyone of them asked him to do something, he would have to do it. He had to defend and protect them, even if they deserved the threat or accusation laid against them. While the other members of the court admired and loved him, he could not say anything to them, only listen. This made him quiet and his mind became his most powerful weapon, much like Queen Irafel and her second sight. Like any male, he wanted to love, but he was watched. So he and his first cousin Darmina fell in love. Out of all the royal family, she he cherished most of all. Darmina never asked him for anything, and with her, he could speak for hours while she listened. It was liberating for him. Their love was a closely guarded secret, though he never failed to carry one of her flowers into battle as a favor, most often a rose. The blood would not show on the red petals.
