Old Grump wasn't called what he was for no reason. He wasn't even old, but he certainly acted like it. And he was definitely grumpy. It was the reason most wolves drove him off, as they couldn't handle his pessimism and criticism. He couldn't help himself; if you don't want criticism, don't ask for someone's opinion. That was the philosophy he lived by, and he expected everyone else to live by it, too.
"Hey Grump, where are we going?" a young pup asked, bounding alongside the older brute. Her fur was black, with cream brindle markings running down her back. She was already much larger than most pups her age, and she was over half the size of her bigger companion.
"Stop asking me that," Grump growled to Savannah, ears lowered with annoyance. She'd asked him the same question seven times, and every time he'd given the same answer: away.
Savannah gave a huff of frustration, but she decided to keep her maw shut. They'd been traveling since that morning, and it was already past noon. She was getting hungry, but she didn't dare voice her complaints. Grump was upset enough as it was, even though she had no idea why. So they continued in silence, padding side-by-side through the forest.
