The sound of seagulls fills your ears, but you can’t see where it’s coming from. Odd, you can see really far. Not focusing on that, though, you begin adjusting your small sail until you don’t need to paddle yourself along anymore. That done, you turn to your inventory to see if you can do anything before you arrive on the island. You attach your boat lantern securely and light it. Then, you flip through the notes of another visitor to the island, gaining a tidbit or two of knowledge.

You find yourself on a sandy beach.

Choose one of the following actions:

Use item: rabbit bait, fish bait, seed bait, nectar bait, drone, blue blossom, purple vine, hunter’s guide are currently usable. You may use one item unless it must be used with another item, such as the cage must be used with bait. (You may use items from your boat as long as you’re next to it.)

Move: You must have bait in your backpack in order to move, you that you have something to use once you move away from your boat.

Exchange items from boat to backpack or vice versa: You may switch items between your backpack and the boat.

Discard items: You may discard any item. It will no longer be usable. Previous Adventurer’s Notes are depleted. You can discard this item to free up space in your backpack without losing anything important.

You return to your raft, sling off your backpack, and place it by the folded sail. Your two eagles are resting on top of it. You look around, seeing your other birds scattered over the beach or resting elsewhere on the raft. You call "here!" and they make their way to you. Giving each a greeting, you speak softly while readying your falconry equipment. Your green eagle's eyes shine, excited. It hobbles closer in the awkward gait of an eagle on land.

You release it out over the island and wait, unpacking you bag. Your finches hop about, collecting bugs for a snack. When the eagle returns, you see it's shadow first. You turn and look up, trying to see if it captured anything.

Gently, it places a bird in your one outstretched hand and lands on your other, gloved hand.

The little bird is awkward and little scared at first, legitimately so after being handled by an eagle. But as you pet it softly and a finch offers it a cricket, it relaxes in your hand. Soon it's up jumping around, inspecting every corner of the raft.

A wind has set in while you were distracted, and some clouds have built. Worried about a storm, you quickly prepare to try and make it back to the mainland. Maybe not the safest choice, but it's so close, and you think you can make it. Keeping the sail down, you opt for your oars instead, and begin paddling. The birds all stay put on the raft, not flying along beside you, and you wonder if that's a bad sign. As soon as you're out from the island shores, you feel the wind even more. Soon, despite your furious paddling, you're pushed off course. The rain begins, and it's all you can do to guide your raft back to the island. But.. this is not the same island. Wherever you have landed, the plants look different, and there's a pile of supplies just like the one you sorted through before. You are on a different island. And someone has been here first.
