Toxcatl is an Aztec festival (and month) dedicated to Tezcatlipoca where every year a person deity impersonator of said god is sacrificed. Why is it relevant? Cause Itztli is that person and I am severely obsessed with Tezcatlipoca still.

The impersonator was treated as the living image of Tezcatlipoca for a year, taught to play the flute and courtly speech and frequently paraded around town, then ritually wed to four women and sacrificed, having his heart cut out 🤞
