I'd go with som sort of torn muscle/ligament/mild( or hairline) fracture of legs or something!! it'll be painful and may need correction in the long term but the character will still be able to move, albeit limited and painful at first
..I'ma need to think on this.. But he's not getting out of this without an injury XD |

back injuries are also an option! He could tweak his back and it could just never heal right and hurt him!! One of my human characters has a permanent back injury of that nature and it limits his activities a lot
