The Chief's mate and a Gatherer spot are open. We do not need to fill these spots unless someone would like to.
Tene and I have agreed that both the Shaman and the Chief sacrificed themselves for the first prophecy, though at different points in time for the sake of the timeline. After the Shaman’s sacrifice failed to fulfill the prophecy, the Chief became obsessed, believing that he was the true key. A few decades later, he followed the same path, sacrificing himself as well.
Initially, we considered involving the Chief's mate in this, but the timeline wouldn't align, given the apprentice-aged heir. So, despite having two children, the Chief’s mate couldn’t bear life without him. One night, she disappeared, with rumors suggesting that she had seen the ghost of her beloved and followed him into the woods. (This can change)
Making the heirs orphans (we love trauma!).
We are smoothing out a few wrinkles still but we plan to have the Elders and Catori guide the Clan. Catori will be the stand-in Chief, prepping Ivan. The Elders believe Ivan is still too young to lead the Clan by himself.
With that, we have two options that are still in the air: Ivan being placed as Lieutenant to learn the ropes more under the rule of Catori or Catori/Elders will pick someone new as Lieutenant with Ivan learning from both of them.
