I'm not sure where this question belongs, as it's more of a question I have out of curiosity about the game itself instead of gameplay. I remember seeing an update saying that users now need to be 16 or older to join in order to comply with new laws. I'd be interested to know where these laws are based and what features of the game make it only for users who are 16+.

It involves European laws. It is about data protection for minors, not about gameplay.
