The Chosen Ones The Kasotha Kingdom is known to be prosperous, famed as a kingdom with strong borders, strong alliances, and, most importantly, an army so powerful it's practically legend. What makes them so strong, you ask? Well, their Dragon Riders, of course. The Dragon Riders of Kasotha have been around for thousands of years, a mighty bond between human and reptile. Once the bond has been formed, pairs must join the Academy of Kasotha, a place like no other, one crafted specifically to teach the Chosen Ones how to be one with their Dragons. However, the Academy is a place shrouded in secrecy, no one truly knows that goes on there, or how they pick their Chosen Ones, only that it's where the pairs learn how to be Dragon Riders. In fact, the students are completely forbidden from speaking about what goes on there with others. To some, becoming a Dragon Rider sounds like a dream. To others, it sounds like a nightmare. But once the call comes, it cannot be ignored by either species, something believed to be decided by fate itself. Rp Rules I. All of Eve's RP rules apply. II. If you have questions, don't be afraid to PM me, or, if the discussion is open and you have an accepted character, feel free to ask there. III. This RP is semi-literate, meaning I require full sentences with decent grammar. This means the limit for posting is 2 paragraphs minimum per post per character. I understand writers block, but everyone else needs something to respond to, and full sentences for appearance and personality. IV. Be creative, have fun with your characters, this is all about having fun ^^ V. If you are fighting, give others a chance to respond. You will not land every hit and you will not dodge every attack, be realistic. Flip a coin if you have to. VI. There is every chance this RP will have characters hurt, please be prepared for that. VII. Be active. Do not join just to ghost the RP. Minimum a post a week, or PM me with a viable reason as to why you can't do that. VIII. About the Academy Keep in Mind While Reading: The Academy may not be what it first appears. The Academy of Kasotha is the academy that trains Chosen Ones on how to properly bond and work with their dragons. The academy is visually a grand place, built with dorms for students and rooms for teachers to stay within the main building, as well as a cafeteria, a two-story library, and a meeting hall big enough for all current enrolled students and dragons. There are two more buildings on the Academy's grounds. One is dedicated to schooling, teaching students everything they will need to know about dragons, caring for their dragons, how to work with their new magic, and, of course, how to truly be Dragon Riders. The other building is used for two purposes, one is to be the Stables, and to hold the equipment and saddles for the dragons. There are three places within the Academy for the Dragons to sleep, as they are not permitted to find lairs for themselves whilst their riders are enrolled. There is an extensive cave system beneath the main building of the academy, large enough for dragons in their dragon forms to walk through and caves large enough to house them comfortably. Dragons can move throughout the cave system as they please, but can only enter and exit when the gate is opened by a teacher or student. On top of the main building is a large dome, similar to a Butterfly House, which has nests for dragons to sleep in if they wish. Dragons can enter and exit this rookery much more freely than the cave system. The third place isn't one that dragons can willingly choose to sleep in. It's known as the Stables, and is where troublesome or aggressive dragons are required to temporarily sleep so that they can be monitored overnight. This can also double as a place for injured or sick dragons to quarantine or heal. The Academy prides itself on putting out information on dragons, and this is a huge part of what's in their library, as well as records, and some other material for students to read, should they wish. They claim to study the dragons and publish books - everything the humans know about dragons comes from the academy, whether it's true or not. About the Chosen Ones These are the riders. No human knows if they are going to become a rider. They don't get to put themselves forward for it or go to a place to get chosen by a dragon. They get a letter delivered to them between the ages of 16 and 22, regardless of rank or situation, that calls them to the Academy to be paired with their dragon. No one knows how the Academy knows who the Chosen Ones are. The Academy claims to know through divination of some kind, getting names to call forth. In reality, the higher ups at the Academy pick at random, and hope no one dies. The public, of course, does not know this, nor do any of the students. The Chosen Ones are completely normal humans, until they bond with a dragon. When this occurs, they gain extremely long lives, slightly enhanced senses [not as much as a dragon, but better than a dragon-less human], and, best of all, magic. They gain powers similar to their dragon. They do not have to have the exact same powers, but at a minimum it must be something within the same domain. However, for every ability, they must have a weakness. In their forms, you can put "TBD" for their powers until they get a confirmed dragon bond, in which case you must fill this out. |

About the Dragons In this world, there is a variety of dragons, coming in all shapes, colours, sizes, and many different classes. I will give you a list of the classes, but I will not be deciding the temperament, appearance or powers of your dragon, this is entirely up to you. All the dragons in this RP are considered Young Adults [100Yrs - 250Yrs], and may have a maximum height of 20ft in their Dragon Form. You may decide their powers, and how many there are, but for every power there must be a weakness, and it shouldn't be too OP. And, of course, there are certain strengths and weaknesses that every dragon has. These will be listed below. Sub-Part of the Dragons, before the Classes Lists: Now, you're probably wondering what I've meant by "Dragon Form" - the dragons are not bonded to the humans by choice, regardless of what the academy says, and the higher ups have put something similar to a curse on these noble creatures. This curse has forced these dragons out of their true bodies, and into bodies that are.. vaguely humanoid. The dragons can choose to transform back into their dragon forms, but it doesn't last forever; they have a maximum of 24 straight hours in their dragon forms before they are forced into their humanoid bodies for another full 24 hours. Even if they transform early, the time has "built up", but it can be worn off by time in their humanoid form. Meaning, the dragons can spend 14 hours as a dragon, and then 2 hours as a human, and have 12 hours of "dragon time" left before they need their reset. So, in short, it is managable, but a pain. And, in the seeming theme of the Academy, these dragons have been sworn to secrecy. They have been threatened with being permanently stuck in their humanoid forms if they tell anyone about the curse, including their riders, as humans have been told by the academy that the "human form" is what dragons gain from the bond. These humanoid forms are not entirely human, of course. They're dragons being forced into human-ish bodies. They may have horns, wings, some scaling on parts of their bodies, claws, teeth, etc., but don't have to. They can be animalistic humans, with a limit. Their skintone are normal human skintones, however their hair colours are generally similar to their scale colours. And their prsented age in this form is Young Adult, as is with their dragon forms (for the purpose of this RP, "young adult" will mean 18-25). Some will likely try. No one yet knows if they will succeed or fail. It's entirely possible that this, the academy and the bond, is what some dragons would absolutely consider hell. Please keep this in mind. Things that Affect All Dragons Weaknesses:
- Iron, it weakens the dragons. The more iron, the weaker the dragon.
- The humanoid forms, in general, are a weakness.
- Belly Scales are softer than others, and wing membranes are able to be injured. Strengths:
+ Heightened Senses, their senses are better compared to humans, even the bonded riders.
+ Enhanced Healng & Abilities Compared to Humans [Speed, Strength, Etc. Of course, the build of your dragon is still something to keep in mind.]
The Bond The Bond, if formed naturally, would be an extremely powerful thing between Dragon and Rider. Unfortunately, in this case, the bond is not natural, and is forced between the dragon and rider. That being said, dragons can choose to forms bonds with certain humans if they choose to and don't have another bond already. It isn't unheard of at all, and is something that can happen. This is what the Academy is making the dragons do, assigning humans to dragons and not giving the dragons the option to not form the bond. In this bond, the humans gain magic, longevity and heightened senses. The Academy has made the world believe that the dragons gain their humanoid form, not that they cursed the dragons to have it. The Chosen Ones will believe that the shifting between dragon and humanoid is a gift that the bond gave them, because that is what the Academy told everyone. The bond, even if formed unnaturally like this, allows for telepathic communication between the paired people, and the other can feel intense emotions of the other. It will be weak at first, especially because it was forged rather than occurring naturally, but over time, this bond will strengthen to allow talking over great distances and pairs on both sides to push feelings through [such as comforting or soothing feelings]. The bond occurrs when touch between the dragon and human happen, with the dragon intending to cause the bond. Due to it being forged, both the dragon and human will likely feel pain in their head as the bond forms. How painful it is may change depending on individual. Due to the nature of the curse, forging the bond will temporarily force dragons into their humanoid form. I will allow you to choose your own bonds. However, your character must be accepted first, and you will need to tell me when you have confirmed a bond with someone so I can check out the powers on the human and update the list. If you don't have a bond by the time we're due to start the rp, I will pair up individuals myself. |

My Storm Dragon Name: Rhyhor Age: 230 Humanoid Age: TBD Gender: Male Sexuality: Unlabelled; Not Straight Monogamous Class: Storm Class Appearance: Rhyhor is an interesting dragon to look at, a mix of a normal dragon and what could be considered a wyvern if looked at from the wrong angle. His back legs are quite normal, strong, muscular, it's the front of his body that can get a little tricky to look at. Out of his shoulders where his legs would be come his wings, thick, strong, and with a claw-foot apprendage on the joint. His wings can absolutely support his bodyweight and can act like another pair of legs, like a wyvern. However, depending on how he's standing and what angle someone is looking at him from, they may notice that, just below where his wings connect with his body, is another set of legs. Slightly shorter than forelegs of a dragon perhaps should be, if he's pushed himself to stand normally with his wings, his claws just barely scrape the ground. These can also support his weight, and act as forelegs if he desires it. Standing on his forelegs, Rhyhor is only a little shorter than he is when he stands at his full height with his wings, which push him to a clean 20 feet tall, with an extremely muscular, bulky build. At times, he can be seen having pushed himself to sit on his hind legs, if he's using his wings to walk then often he ends up having an odd, almost threatening lumbering gait, and if he's using all six of his appendages to move then it's almost as if he's scrambling somewhere as quick as he can. His head is broad and muscular, his teeth are long, sharp and some of them protrude from his maw, glinting in the light of his storms. He has a second row of teeth that are serrated and facing backwards, meaning that once you're trapped in his mouth, only Rhyhor can choose to let you go, or you lose a limb. His eyes are pupiless, without a sclera [the whites], and a bright, almost glowing white-blue color, not unlike the lightning that comes from his maw. Out of the back of his head, Rhyhor has a small crown of horns, with two jutting out from just above his eyebrows that are larger than the rest. Starting around the middle of his head and going all the way down his spine are a row of spikes. They start small on his head, remain semi-small, although increasing slowly in size, along his neck, rapidly increase in size on his back, with the largest in the middle of his back. From there, they begin to slowly shrink again, with the smallest on the end of his tail. His scales are a very dark grey, not unlike heavy, aggressive storm clouds. He's this color pretty much all over his body, other than paler grey scars that adorn his scales from fighting. The membrane of his wings have slightly paler swirling patterns on them, only visible if you're up-close and actually looking for them. Humanoid Appearance: Rhyhor's humanoid appearance is an animalistic, feral-looking thing. Whereas some dragons can be pushed into a mostly human-looking figure, this creature looks like a dragon ripping its way out of its fleshy confines. Personality: Observant || Solitary || Extremely Wild / Untamed || Volatile || Extremely Territorial || Possessive || Loyal Like a Dog || Harsh || Unpredictable || Mildly Short Tempered || Stubborn || Independent || Reclusive || Likes His Own Space || Protective || Food Aggressive / Resource Guarder || Borderline Feral || Skilled Like a true storm, Rhyhor is volatile, destructive and untamed. He's aggressive to his core, leaving carnage in his wake once he's on a warpath. Once he's got it in his head that he needs to fight, he goes until there's no one else to fight, until he drops, or if, for some reason, he thinks it isn't worth it anymore. He's as unpredictable as a storm front, a switch in his head flipping on a whim, lightning settled in his heart and ready to zap anyone that dares to get too close. He prefers his own company, always has and always will. The silent crackling of lightning between fangs, the patter of the storm overhead, the powerful, invincible feeling that always comes from gliding among the thunderstorm. He prefers the company of raindrops against his scales, of wind against his ears, of lightning as blue as his eyes. Others have always gotten in his way, have always allowed weaknesses and distractions that he couldn't afford. He's territorial and possessive, once someone or something is his, it's his, and he would kill and die to defend it. Food and resources are no different, with a high amount of food aggression and resource guarding behavior. His short temper truly shines here, if he's approached by someone he doesn't trust completely while he has food, a growl is the mildest of his reactions. He's likely to be more tolerant of someone he trusts, but he has his limits, even then. He's observant, he notices as much as he can, and notes it all down. He likes to be on top, he likes to be one step ahead, and he likes to know that he can hold his own and not have to back down. He finds company is often crowded, unless it's a certain few, and he prefers his own space, but once he's found those certain few, Rhyhor is loyal like a dog, and would fight to the ends of the earth for them. Rider: TBD Powers: Storm Manipulation Rhyhor can sense, shape, manipulate and dissipate storms and natural disasters, and, if the conditions are right, he can bring storms together. He can control how severe they are, in some cases what type of storm they are, and if the conditions are right he can "create" the storm. He can control the individual elements of the storm during it, such as making lightning strike, moving the storm around with him, etc.. He can't make the conditions for a storm out of thin air, unlike some rarer storm dragons, but he can bring the conditions together if they're present, and make mild storms into more severe storms. Lightning Production
Instead of the "fire breath" of some other dragons, Rhyhor spits out lightning. He can control how severe it is, where it goes, etc. He can also make his scales electric for large amounts of time, mainly to avoid unwanted touches. In same cases, he can even use the lightning of a storm to make his attacks more powerful, this falls into lightning production and his storm manipulation. If he's charging up his lightning breath, the spikes along his spine begin to glow. The more of them glowing/the brighter they are, the more powerful the attack is going to be. If he's used his "absorb lightning" skill, his scales begin glowing too, to signify how powerful his attack is going to be. Lightning Immunity Rhyhor is immune is all things to do with lightning or electricity. Strengths: Skilled | Rhyhor, being a very territorial dragon, has had a lot of experience fighting to defend what's his. This leaves him extremely able to fight, and more than willing to if the need arises. Brawn and Brains | While he's large and bulky, Rhyhor isn't an idiot. He's not the smartest out there, sure, but he's got some brains in his silly little head. "Extra" Legs | Having his legs as well as his wings built the way they are comes in handy for a lot of reasons. More things to grab with, more to damage with, more to fight with. Weaknesses: Extreme Heat | Long periods of time in extreme heat get to him. They may not truly affect him all too much, but he functions much better in mildly chilly or average weather. Agility | Rhyhor is big and bulky, not agile or overly quick. He's built to be beefy and pack a punch, not to run and escape something. Conditions | To make/create storms, the conditions must be right. He can't make a storm out of thin air, the elements and needs of the storm must already be there for him to bring them together. Personality | He isn't a friendly dragon. He's territorial, wild, and unpredictable. He's been in more fights than he can remember. He's a timebomb waiting to go off on anything that gets too close. Lacking Empathy | It isn't that he can't be empathetic, it's really just that he doesn't care enough about anyone to try.
