Our Future

In Tanzania, a pack of African Wild Dogs thrive known as the Aleksandr (meaning helper of man). This pack has been the strongest, largest, and one of the most feared packs for generations upon generations. Making treaties with other African Wild Dog packs, sharing their food, sometimes even sharing their territory, the Aleksandr have lived like kings and queens for as long as they could remember. They believed that nothing could ever change this, but, sadly, they were wrong.

After the Alpha male is mysteriously killed, the pack must learn to deal with the new Alpha - his dreadful heir. Nobody knows exactly what happened to the original Alpha, but some suspect that his son was the one to do the killing. Others say a predator got him in the night. Some might say it was his old age. No matter what anyone things, they all must learn to adapt to this new change. But upon the new Alpha male, it also came with the sudden change in ranks.

The old betas became subordinates as he picked his own Betas. Pups who were thought to be weak were thrown out and abandoned to be killed off. Mothers were ripped away from their offspring. Stricter rules became the new normal. Everyone had to be doing something unless they were waiting for the new Alpha to rip them a new one. Everyone was worked to the bone - older pups included, and this caused some of the members to attempt to assassinate the new Alpha. However, soon, their not-so-bright future would be changed for the worse... or for the more worse, whichever way you'd prefer to look at it.

Dry weather means higher risk for wildfires, and in the pack's case, this is just the luck they had - a horrid wildfire that killed many of the pack's members and separated them. A group of 7, including the new Alpha, must learn to work together if they want to rebuild their pack. But it all depends on how loyal the members are, and if their future can be something they want.

After a recent death and the rising of a new Alpha, another tragedy falls upon the pack of African Wild Dogs known as the Aleksandr - a wildfire. A band of surviving eight must learn to live together, even if they don't like it, and hopefully create a future for them.

Rules/Regulations

>Eve's RP/forum rules overrule all and should always be followed.

>Be as active as you can. If you think you are going to be inactive or want to drop out, please PM me. If you do not give me a head's up, then you will be kicked from the RP and your slot will become available. Do not join just to be inactive.

>Use proper grammar, punctuation, capitalization, etc. Be sure to write at least 300+ words, as this is literate. 300 words should be enough to go off of, but if not, I don't expect anything lower than 250.

>Try to include everyone. Have your character interact with as many others as possible and always try to come up with ways to be inclusive.

>That being said, don't have your character be the sort of guy who is constantly running off, stealing the spotlight, etc. This is a group RP, not a solo story. Again, include everyone.

>No Weeping Willows, Mary/Gary Sues, any of the sort. Your character should be as realistic as possible (with the exception of talking and the plot, of course). I don't want to see any sparkle dogs with neon colors.

>No LGBTQ+ relationships for the sake of realism (nothing against it).

>Images are allowed with proper credit, but still have some sort of description (height, weight, scars, etc).

>Appearance and personality should have around 150+ words in each. I would prefer more, however, so if you can do more, great!

>You may have only one character as this RP is limited.

>Reservations last 12 hours.

>Do no be OP. Your character will not dodge all attacks, and you should always give the person a chance to respond to your post if there is an attack scene.

>Always have granted permission to harm/kill another person's character.

>Speaking of harmed or killed characters, your characters will get hurt with the chance of being killed. Keep this in mind.

Pack Rules

>Alpha(s) word is law and what he says is final.

>You may challenge ranks, but only what is above you. (Betas can challenge alpha, etc). This normally occurs around spring time.

>Any loners found outside of the pack are to be chased off or killed.

>No leaving the territory without permission from the Alpha.

>Only the Alpha pair can mate.

>If there is any outside breeding or breeding within the ranks below Alphas, those dogs will be chased off and/or killed.

>Pups are to be protected at all times.

>Everyone needs to be doing their assigned jobs, no matter what. Always be working.

>If going hunting, bring at least a party of three.

>If you cannot fend for yourself against a predator or other AWDs, always retreat to the territory.

>Pups are to be protected at all cost, but they too need to be doing work (some will be with their mother, or doing more simple tasks).

Roles
^Explained

Alpha Male
The most dominant out of the pack, this male calls all of the shots and his word is law. What he says goes, and he may arrange any sort of hunting party, scouting party, etc whenever he feels like it. He is also the only male in the pack who may breed, unless he gives other males permission. He may demote, exile, decide punishments, and give consequences for those who have broken the rules. This rank may be challenged for.

Alpha Female
She does not hold the same power as the Alpha male, but, she helps him make choices when it comes to certain punishments and may take his place if he is absent. However, if the Alpha male were to disappear or die, she could lead on her own, but it would be required of her to find another Alpha male to lead. She is the only female in the pack who can have litters during breeding season, unless permission is granted to others by the Alpha male. This rank may be challenged for.

Beta Pair
These two AWDs are second-in-command of the Alphas, especially the Alpha male. They are to help organize any hunting parties, scouting parties, patrols, or sometimes even lead them. They do not have to be a mated pair, but they will become the next Alphas when the current two either become deceased or are retired. Sometimes they will train pups for a certain job, in which they specialize in all, and are normally hard-workers. This rank may be challenged for.

Subordinates
These AWDs make up most, if not all, of the pack's population. These guys do just about everything - hunt, patrol, scout, do jobs, etc. They keep the pack in control for the most part. They may vote when there is a choice to be made, but must always obey the Alpha, especially the Alpha male. This rank cannot be challenged for.

Pups
The youth of the pack. More than likely the Alphas' offspring, but also make up the majority of the population, as litters can range from 1-20 puppies per litter. Pups are to be trained and mentored by subordinates or sometimes Betas, depending on who's available. They are trained in just about everything (hunting, tracking, scouting, patrolling, etc). They must have a mother, and no outside pups can be taken in for the sake of other packs possibly being the area.

Mwamba

"There's always going to be a constant reminder of what you've done, good or bad, no matter how desperate you are to escape what you are."

Name: Mwamba
^{Meaning 'mighty'}

Age: 5 years old

Gender: Male

Appearance: Mwamba stands at 23 inches tall with a rather lean frame. He doesn't have much muscle to him, but is on the larger end for height. He's roughly 38 inches long, not including his tail, and weighs around 48 pounds. His fur coat is rather short, only long on his cheeks and on the back of his neck. The texture of his fur can be described as silky, slightly wiry.

Mwamba has the generic African Wild Dog appearance, with creams, tans, and black, but he also has some white that can be spotted on his legs. Of course, he has the geneic large ears, in which are closer together than say, a wolf's, and has a slightly shortened muzzle. He has small scars scattered about on his body, but none that are obvious or that can catch your eye. He has rather dark eyes, which are a deep amber, pretty much brown, and has a black nose, paw pads, and nails.

Personality: To begin, this male is a determined worker. He won't stop until he drops, and will always create some sort of job to keep himself occupied with. You will always see him doing at least something, whether it be big or small. He will stop at nothing to complete a job, making him quite a determined and diligent worker, and prefers to work alone when it comes to smaller jobs. He will request help when he sees fit, but will never take offers when someone asks if he needs help. Some may consider this trait good, others bad, but it doesn't stop him from doing what he does best - work. This also means that he likes to see others work as well, doing the same efforts as him, so at times he will request that others do work. Sometimes it may be jobs that are something he should be doing. Regardless, it doesn't stop him from doing his own thing or having others do it for him, sometimes with him.

Mwamba should be noted as a rather powerful male. He's demanding and gets straight to the point, and never sugarcoats anything. He's blunt in that way, and speaks the God honest truth in most, if not all cases. However, this doesn't mean he won't keep secrets, but if he feels it endangers someone around him or even himself, he will proceed to open up about said secret. In most cases, Mwamba makes no promises -- why would he? Why make a promise he wouldn't be able to keep? Mwamba makes it clear that you cannot always rely on him, but he knows he can rely on himself, in which this makes him quite selfish. He only really thinks about himself and never about anyone else, even if it's someone he should care about. In reality, he cares for nothing and nobody - just his power.

Speaking of power, Mwamba is quite power-hungry. He will do anything to be on top, get as he pleases, and have anyone obey him. This causes him to become ruthless and relentless, sometimes even menacing and dreadful. He becomes someone who you should fear, or already fear, and for that, it becomes easier for him to end up getting what he wants. Mwamba may use other methods besides being considered intimidating, however. Like manipulation and gas-lighting others. He's just the sort of guy you can trust in the beginning before everything changes and you realize he isn't what he says he is - he's way worse, and makes sure to make it obvious even when you don't care.

Mwamba is someone who you cannot go to for talking about your feelings. He's emotionally unavailable for numerous reasons, the reason being that he feels like he shouldn't show his true emotions (though what he shows is exactly what he feels, in most cases), and doesn't like hearing about others' problems. He will forever shut people out and make them have a reason to not approach him with conversations that regard emotion and how they feel. He normally does this by some sort of snarky comment and remark, or by simply telling you to screw off. Either way, he makes things pretty obvious, and this doesn't just apply to these sort of situations.

Mwamba believes in some sort of punishment for any sort of 'crime' committed. With that being said, Mwamba is in a way, a hypocrite. As much as he constantly thinks about himself, he doesn't realize that he isn't exactly a saint. He has done and will do unspeakable actions for the sake of protecting and shielding himself from any sort of danger or hurt. And because of this, maybe argue with him on what he believes. However, this has never stopped him from his beliefs. He thinks that you should be punished for what you've done wrong, whether the consequence be nothing or anything, bad or worse. This applies to good actions for Mwamba as well, but let's be honest -- what good has he done?

But, moving along, Mwamba is quite the thinker. With a witty and alert brain, he is always thinking up of some new possibility or action during a situation. This is honestly the only thing others may like him for, as he is creative and has a sense of right and wrong (in most cases... for himself? Not so much, but he would never admit that). The whole 'right or wrong' thing may be translated into more of what is dangerous and safe, or the best choice out of two wrongs. Regardless, Mwamba, especially in battle, is always trying to come up with ways to outsmart anything that comes in his path. His opponent, where to go, how to go about things, anything of the sort. Some may say he's dangerously intelligent, which again, it just might be the only decent thing about him. There's nothing really good about him.
