Wip revamping.

Name: Sorren Lamont

Age: TBD

Gender: Male

Tribal Affiliation: Djali

Beast: Onyx

Role: Seeker

Rank: Lead Seeker

Appearance: Standing at 5'10 while on the shorter than average side the male makes up for that in well defined muscles from his many years of being a leather worker for making beast and rider tack/gear. Strong sturdy hands are darker in color than the rest of his already tanned skin. The hands and wrists a henna red color from working with leather tanning dyes. His skin is covered in white tribal tattoos that go over his back, shoulders and arms they also run up his neck. This goes well with his shorter cropped pure white hair a common color among his tribe. Normally long and braided back. Was shorn in mourning as is custom. Because of his bond his age of 68 seems like a joke as he looks easily early to mid thirties but his age shows in his pained golden brown eyes holding the true weight of his age. His face is strong but kind. Laugh lines visable. He wears cool rust red riding leathers when training or working but under or day to day he wears the loose desert tones of tan and cream clothing of his tribe. A worm tunic and flowing loose pants. sinched at the waist and ankles. A few necklaces with seashells on leather cords hang about his neck. A gift from his late wife. He also wears sturdy sand shoes. And formal wear he has a deep blue silk sash that doubles as a sun scarf

Personality: Sorren is a kind man with a big heart who is known for taking care of his fellow tribe mates. Always there to help someone if they need help fixing something or help them move a broken cart. However a bit on the gruff side though when in a bad mood; years of working in desert conditions will do that to you. He grew up in the Djali tribe and followed his parents trade once they passed. He has been working with leather for a long time now and met his late wife Quiin on his travels to the Kaa tribe for trading. They lived a good few years together her staying with her family a lot by the oceans as she wasn't accustomed to the heat of the deserts. One of her travels back she was ambushed and killed by unknown creatures. It has been five years and Sorren is still trying to recover. Though the company of his beast makes it much easier.

Affiliations: potential npc in-laws in Kaa, (other open)

Crush: none

Mate: Quiin(deceased)

Offspring: none

This creature is quite the horrific thing to look at, horrific but incredibly captivating.
Medusa has the intimidating height of 12 feet and 6 inches from shoulder down, with an aggressive-looking stature. This Hellhound resembles the body of a disturbingly skinny, or malnourished husky...though maybe 4 or 5 times bigger. The giant dog has one head with a sharo, strong looking jaw with razor sharp teeth lining the inside of her mouth. She has pointed ears with sharp tips that sit atop her head. Medusa has dark red eyes that seem to glow.
Her body is a mix of different blacks and reds. The females head, neck, back and manged tail are a deep red, crimson color with even darker red stripes across, almost like a brown color. Her chest, stomach, legs, and paws are pitch black. Medusa has quite the large amount of scars from previous fights that she has gotten herself into, two of the largest, most visible are the scars that she got through a fight with a dragon and her eggs. She was just a bit hungry...she could have just given one of them up, maybe two. But no, the mother dragon had chosen the hard way.

Lead Beast
Appearance:
Onyx is a stunning specimen of a dragon – built around a lifestyle of power, durability, intimidation, and stealth. His body appears to be made purely of muscle, thick and durable hide, and sturdy bones. Together these aspects form a being with massive proportions that few have trumped. Starting with his height, one will find that it is actually a modest value. He measures up to twelve feet at the shoulder when resting his belly on the ground with a neck stretching upwards around four feet in length. In total, he equals out at around sixteen in height from the ground to the top of his head. The length of his body, however, is what truly shocks all those who meet him. He comes at a whopping forty one in length – from the start of his snout to the tip of his tail! And the reason for this is rather simple although a tad confusing.
This large beast, as one could already tell, is a peculiar specimen among the dragon kind – a variant that few have ever witnessed. In fact, he is rather baffling once one begins to study him. The upper portion of this male’s body is like that of a stereotypical dragon. Broad chest, strong neck, and – most importantly – two front legs. These front limbs are almost exclusively used for digging and are equipped with long talons protruding from his “fingers.” These talons are almost excessively long and sharp, built to plow through large amounts of dirt with a matter of seconds… or minutes, depending on how lazy he feels. They can also be used for gripping and aiding in sharp turns above ground. But that is rather rare to see occur. These two legs rarely touch the ground when not digging and are left to press against his chest to keep out of his way. His lower body, on the other hand, is completely serpentine in nature and, as such, holds no hind legs. It is nothing more than a very long tail. This tail is well toned and contains most of the muscles found within his body – adept for the common ability of constriction. His usual method of motion is slithering, but he does have a way to keep his upper body from dragging along the ground. More on this later. The tail’s tip ends in a dagger-like barb which can be mistaken easily for the stinger of an insect. It is typically held like that of a scorpion’s, curled slightly in and seemingly always poised to strike. He uses his barbed tip to either slash or jab at opponents. However, it does have the interesting capability to act… well, just like that of a scorpion. If some poor unfortunate soul manages to get stabbed by this tail tip for a decent stretch of time, the dragon will have the chance to inject liquid fire into them as though it were actual venom. For most, it is hard to decipher where his tail begins and upper body ends, seeing they are nearly indistinguishable from one another. It is easy to blame his snake side for that. Overall, his build is streamline yet bulky all in the same – designed explicitly for quick, strong, and stealthy strikes. His impeccably thick tail easily shows off the large amount of physical strength he possesses and typically ward off intelligent attackers at a first glance. Especially due to his rather obvious method of hunting or fighting. His scales – underbelly and upper scales alike – are sleek and smooth like those of a snake. They, unlike his overall tail-build, do not ward off any would-be attackers, but they do aid in his more streamline aspects and allow him to traverse underground tunnels and cave systems with ease. But, do not be fooled, this hide is just as durable as the rest of him. Only select weapons can pierce him, and those that can often get lodged rather tightly into his flesh which gives him the chance to blast the opponent with fire. Unless the user is an expert in striking such hides that is. Another dragon or “sharp” beast, however, is likely to do some damage if they can get the drop on him. However, he does have one more trick up his sleeve to prevent this. Running down his spine and sides are small, blunt, and short lines of osteoderms. They are seemingly harmless due to their dull points and are hard to spot, even in close-up range. So one may come to the conclusion that they are completely harmless. But, such thinking may cost them their lives. By breathing fire onto his own body, the properties within these blunt spines cause a chain reaction within all of them – leading to his entire body (or, at least the areas in which osteoderms reside) to set ablaze. A nasty surprise for any unwise enough to attack from behind and remain on his back. He most often uses this during constriction to both speed up the process and pre-cook the tasty meal.
The lead beast’s head is not shaped mostly as one would expect. While one would be quick to assume that his head takes after the structure of snakes – constrictors in particular – in actuality, it takes after the structure of komodo dragons and nile monitors. Though, there are small hints of a more snake-like base here and there. His head, like those of the two reptiles listed, is more so vertically lengthy than it is horizontally. Which essentially means that it has more height than width. It, like the rest of him, is also incredibly thick and durable – able to withstand harsh and powerful blows to it without so much as being phased or to dish out such blows without damaging his brain. So, essentially, a built in battering ram. This aspect is likely due in part to the literal ram horns that curl down either side of his head to just below his lower jaw. They do not twist around multiple times in any manner and are said to be similar to those of a big horned sheep. His snout still mostly takes after the reptiles listed, being rather narrow in structure. It does not have the ability to dislocate like an actual snake’s. At its tip resides a nose horn which curls back and in towards his face. It currently seems to serve no purpose, but it at least looks cool. His eyes may as well be one of the only serpent-like aspects of his head, having the general shape of the eyes of that creature with its own draconic parts thrown in. The pupils, however, act more like a cat’s than a snake’s. Though, their resting position is that of a snake’s slit-like pupils. His tongue on the other hand can be equated to all three reptiles mentioned. It is long and forked, and has the ability to taste the air when in use. Serpentine teeth line the rest of his mouth, including those oh-so-famous retractable fangs. They, like a snake’s or komodo dragon’s, curl back toward his throat. The aforementioned fangs, on the other hand, are more like those of a spitting cobra – folding in when not in use but flicking out when in use. They are also slightly hollow with small openings right above their tips, granting him the ability of these venom-spitting snakes! But, of course, he utilizes streams of fire instead of venom.
The wings of this gemstone based creature are also unique in their own way. There are exactly two of them, and they are decently sized. Together, they create a wingspan of at least 34 feet. Not insanely big, but a decent size. They are oddly muscular in overall structure as well, but not from use in flight. In structure, they are almost like those of a bat just without the propatagium which is essentially the connection between the upper and lower portions of the wings. Three finger-like digits will, instead, sprout from the join of his wing – each equipped with long and sharp claws at their tips. And they are used almost entirely for walking. By angling his wings upwards like those of a wyvern, sinking his claws into the ground underneath him, and physically lifting up his upper body, he can utilize these fingers as paws and drag himself forward with the coupling motion of slithering. Or, if he were underground, he would twist them sideways to grip the sides of the tunnels to also traverse them. This variety of motion has led to his wing membrane to be partially disconnected from his side. Though, some still remains attached towards the upper bone part of his wing. This division as well as his overall build and bulk and lanky structure, have led to the inability of flight. However, combining the power of his wings and the occasional push or pull from his legs, he can create enough lift to glide for short periods. In general, the wing membranes of this dragon are very thick and difficult to tear – a necessity for a dragon living mostly beneath the earth. It is also, like a bat, divided by wing fingers. This doesn’t do too terribly much for him besides keeping his wings together. None of these particular fingers are tipped with anything.
The colors of this beast are a brilliant display of earthy tones, those that scream “prairie” or precious metals. The majority of his upper body, head to most of his tail, is painted in a luxurious golden-brown color – akin to that of wheat or dry, summer meadow grass. His underbelly is simply a lighter shade of his hue, being more tannish-brown than gold. But nonetheless stunning. Both sections appear to fade into a matching coloration towards the end of his tail – a dark golden-brown – before fading in the onyx black of his time sake along the tip and barb. White “veins” which fade into existence as the black, arise run through this portion of his tail but do not touch the brown the black formed out of. The exact tip of his tail, however, is tipped in a fiery gold with small similar colored veins running downwards. These veins are much smaller and skinnier than the white ones and are easily missed. This is only found along the barb when it comes to his tail. But similar markings do arise elsewhere. His horns mimic this fade, turning from a lighter gray into an onyx black. Though, the black is said to shimmer like a gemstone in his particular area. The white veins that reside here, unlike those on his tail, coat his entire horn in no cohesive pattern. And, like the barb of this tail, the tips of his horns have seemling been dipped in a fiery gold with small veins running up his horns. They do not make it even half way up them. His nose horn also follows this golden pattern, but it is not tipped in gold and, rather, just has the veins. No fade is present here, leaving it a solid black in its base coloration. The beast’s wing membrane continues this fade and veined pattern, as one would likely suspect. They start out a smokey, nightfall black and slowly fade in the usual onyx shade. White veins – thicker than the rest of them found on his body – are present across the entirety of his wings, and can be described as almost being streaks of lightning or small, oddly colored rivers amongst the black. Pure golden veins, distinctly different from the fiery gold from before, are present here. They are much thinner than the white ones and can be observed cutting in between the white and black portions. They sometimes even cross over or under the white veins. Though, the become duller the closer one gets to the smoky black reign of his wings and are difficult to spy when not in bright lighting. His eyes are quite the contrast to the rest of him, being a silvery hue that can easily be mistaken for mercury. His pupils are black. His tongue is the same onyx black as his tail tip but ends in a silver tip – an exact match as to what is seen in his eyes.
The roars of this ginormous being are nothing short of loud and, at times, ear shattering. Unlike other dragons, he has six main distinct calls rather than the usual five: broadcast, victory, friendly, warning, threaten, and danger. His broadcast is a low, rumbling like sound – akin to the grumble of an alligator or bellow of an elephant or possibly the odd hint of a sousaphone, if not a mixture of the three. The clashing of a rockslide can be heard in the background of the main chords of this noise, as though it were an ominous warning of a disaster to come. At close range, this roar is known to physically shape the earth with its sheer volume and power as well as any being nearby. His victorious bellow is nearly an exact copy of his sound, but with the roar of a tiger melded into the notes – creating a bit of contrast between the bass sounds and the tenor ones. The dragon’s friendly call (which admittedly comes off as more of a soft rumble than an actual roar) is another low rumbling below that can almost be compared to the purr of a giant cat. This purring like sound only exists whenever Onyx is content, at ease, or trying to be friendly. Not that it sounds remotely so, that is. The warning call of this dragon, however, is even more intimidating. It is a sizzling hiss of a call, similar to the ominous crackling of cooking of organic material on flames. It is a rather haunting noise for most to hear, especially when traversing a large system on tunnels. It reverberates off the walls incredibly quickly and loudly, making it difficult to pinpoint his exact location. And, while his opponent may simply be confused and frantically searching, he’ll know exactly where they reside at all times. If one does not heed his warning, a booming cry will soon follow the hisses he grants the victim – his threatening roar. This noise has been known to cause panic to all those who hear it underground or along the sides of a steep cliff. It all but mimics the sound a rock slide or cave in, and is coupled with the roar of an enraged tiger. The rock-based noise has fooled many a soul into thinking that the area they were in was truly reacting in such a manner and that their life would soon be coming to a close. His final call, one aptly named “danger,” is simply his method of signaling a threat in the area. It is an odd bird-like call, even if it possesses no amount of bird-elements to it, and comes off as a weird high-pitched hissing sound. Not exactly a terrifying noise, but some that can leave some questioning exactly what they just heard and wondering if it actually came from the beast before them.
Onyx’s voice is much like the majority of his roars: lower in pitch deep over all. Not quite at the level of what some might describe as a spoken brown note, but also not entirely too far off. His tone is most often calm and open, signaling to all that he will gladly listen to their words rather than talk himself. But this can easily be swayed by any emotions his heart may foster. However, he’s learned to mask his more negative ones over the years and is pretty good at doing so now. No matter how angry he may actually be, it is rare of him to let such an expression slip through the cracks. Whenever he talks, it typically sounds as though he is speaking in a slow drawl – one that only those too tired to continue talking use. Though, this is simply his way of ensuring he doesn’t hastily say something he may regret by taking his time saying the words – meticulously thinking over each and every one to ensure that it won’t upset anyone… Or it may just be him being his lazy self. Your pick. And no, he does not hiss the ‘s’s of words. But he does find it funny that some believe that he may.

“I just… don’t understand. I’m not the oldest. Nor the brightest. And certainly not the wisest. So why did they choose… me?”
Strengths:
+ Physical Strength: Onyx’s body seemingly mimics that of common constrictors. Not to mention that this is his favorite method of earning a score of prey. Therefore, he does hold quite a bit of physical strength.
+ Seismic Sensing: Onyx’s ability of seismic sensing is what makes others so frightened of him. Whilst underground (and only while he is underground), he has the ability to “see” the location of things above ground so long as they are moving about or breathing heavily. They appear as white lines to him. Thus, ensuring that he sees the prey… while the prey does not see him. However, this ability does have its limits and can be worked around through multiple avenues.
+ Flexible: He’s a giant snake with wings… need I say more?
+ Stealth: Onyx is nothing short of an ambush hunt. So, naturally, he is quite the stealthy dragon… even if he weighs likely more than all the other beasts within his group. Hey, don’t underestimate the big guy. He has his ways.
+ Burrowing: This fire dragon is considered to be one of the best diggers around, if not the best. He is known to live almost exclusively in underground tunnels which are constantly being expanded to his liking. Hence his entire makeup being centered around this skill.
+ Durability: Of course, being a dragon, this gemstone-painted being is quite the sturdy one. However, thanks to his underground lifestyle and need to resist caveins, he is a lot more durable than most.
Weaknesses:
- Stamina: While he is by no means lacking in stamina, he does not have enough to partake in long chases. If he fails to get the jump on someone or misses his ambush strike, then they can easily outpace him.
- Speed: Unless he is below ground, this fiery beast is not exactly known for his speed. Having to awkwardly rely on his wings to walk and having no hind legs (coupled with his humongous size) prevents him from taking off at high speeds. If he were digging, however, that would be another story.
- Cannot Fly: Rather simple drawback. Long body plus disconnected wings plus heavy build equals no flight. He can, however, glide for short distances by spreading his wings and slightly flattening his body. Exactly like, well, a flying snake. Minus the wing part.
- Sand: Can’t tunnel underneath the sand. Just keeps collapsing. And he isn’t exactly built to prevent the small grains from entering his lungs. That and he sinks into it like quicksand due to his weight if he stays still for too long. Easy to get out though.
- Cloudy Days/Storms: In order to strengthen his fire-based powers, Onyx must sunbathe at some point in the day. However, on cloudy or stormy days, this either is not an option or takes long to do. That and any amount of rain makes tunneling incredibly tedious. Rain also screws with his ability to sense anything from below ground.

- While he by no means lacks the stamina, Onyx does not have enough to partake in long chases. Abush is his best weapon. However, do not expect him to attack from above or ground level. He will strike from below. Oh, and don’t try to run. You won’t get very far if he travels underground.
- Thanks to the design of Onyx’s horns and skulls, he can be used as a powerful battering ram. This skill is used to allow him to burst out of the ground to grab some prey. Maybe it will come in handy for the conflict? Who knows.
- Onyx… doesn’t understand why he was chosen to be the lead beast. No one, in the past, thought much of him. Besides Sorren, that is. To the world – specifically the tribe he lived with – he was nothing more than a monster waiting to strike. And there were so many better and more experienced choices. I mean, just look at the ones following! However, the officials just seemed so… certain. Maybe they see something in him that he just hasn’t come to reconcile yet. Or it could be that they wanted Sorren to lead and he is simply his back. Who is to say?
- It has been said that Onyx is the descendant of the extinct earth class of dragon due to his preferred habitat and singular ability. However, no one is too sure about this seeing as all his other abilities are based in the element of fire.
- While the silver eyed beast does adore his bonded he must ask, why did he have to live in the desert of all places?
Ya know I gotta do it. I have ta suggest Amphitheres again. Pygmy’s gotta come back. The coconut bean needs a revamp. XD
I should still have the species form on them as well. I may have some other ideas as well, like phoenixes (since someone used that creature last time) but I’ll hold off on the others for now.
As for what caused the Snap, I could see it being a combination of bonding prematurely, magic shenanigans (such family of mage descendents that still holds a grudge after all this time enchanting or cursing the sone), unfortunate circumstances prior to bonding (i.e., not have been treated kindly before the ceremony and holding resentment because of it), or maybe even forcing a bond ta occur in some way.
