We are different. We weren't born this way, we were made. Now we're free. The world will learn to fear us. The year is 2157, and surprisingly, not much has changed. Well, that's what the government wants the public to think. Secretly, the government has been working on what they call project Miles Avis (bird soldier in Latin). In their experiments, they messed with DNA to create supersoldiers with wings. The unforeseen complication? These supersoldiers don't want to be soldiers. They just want to be free. They are given this opportunity when they discover that, by some means or another, the supersoldiers have powers. They escaped the government laboratory, and now, they are hiding in the nearby city of Renielow. The government wants the supersoldiers back. There are only two options left. Vera's eyes are deep blue, lighter than navy, but darker than royal. Vera is of average height, standing at a good 5'2, and has a rather skinny body frame. Small scars cover Vera's body. The most noticeable is the one that runs down the right side of her face, narrowly missing her eye. The second most noticeable scar is one that wraps around her left bicep, which Vera covers with a black band. Vera wears black gloves at all times. The gloves are form-fitting, and light enough where Vera's hands don't overheat. Vera's wings are simple, yet beautiful. Pure black, just like her hair, and just a tad bit longer than her arm span. Appearance: The first thing you'll notice about Aubade (besides the flashy wings, that is) is her height. She stands abour 6 feet tall, carrying the majority of that height in her legs. She's olive-toned, covered in freckles and scars, as is typical for those of her creed. The vast majority of her scars are on her knuckles and forearms, though she has four wicked, long scars traversing the length of her abdomen. She's rather tanky in build, with the bulk of her muscle localized to her arms and shoulders, while her legs are more built like that of a runner. Her hair is exremely dark, curly, and cropped fairly short (shaves sides, longer on the top), and she takes great pride in it. Since her emancipation, she has taken to dyeing a streak towards the front of it white in an imitation of the bird her wings come from. They match her eyes, equally dark, almost black in coloration, framed with thick eyelashes. Aubade tends to wear very "militaristic" clothing- favoring cargos and combat boots. Her wings themselves are flashy, especially for a soldier, extremely expansive to offset her height. Her coverts and secondaries are such a dark blue that they're practically black, while her primaries and scapulars are white. Around her shoulders, where her feathers and skin meet, is jet-black in pigment.
Personality: As a Miles Avis, Aubade has gone through hell, and like her name might suggest, she has come out singing. Despite her very real trauma, she's incredibly kind, if a little prone to superficiality. She's rather introverted, despite her outgoing-ness, and values her alone time. That's not to say everything is sunshine and roses with Aubade. She's fairly touch averse and extremely paranoid (though she hides both rather well) and would not be caught dead without some sort of weapon, typically knives. She also has a stubborn, angry streak and balks at letting people other than herself lead the way.
* Powers: 80% of Aubade's power is in her size and strength (likely genetically modified), but she also has some skill in clairvoyance. That's not to say she can see the future, because she can't, but her reflexes are entirely unparalleled, to the point that she can somewhat anticipate events before they happen. If she can visually see someone, it's hard to beat her in a fight, making it necessary to use trickery. It is a fallible skill, and it's not entirely uncommon for her to react to events that do not end up happening. It also tends to take a mental tole on her, and as a result, she's often more tired than the average bear following times of mental strain.

They have perpetually ash-flecked messy shoulder length black hair ties back by a red ribbon into a low ponytail (first thing they did upon escape was chopping off their hair. It used to be down to their waist but they weren't allowed to cut it). They have black eyes that seem to burn straight into your soul, though the right is somewhat milky and surrounded by burns from experiments that were started when they were 4. * As for clothing they wear black pants tucked into knee-high boots that lace all the way up. They also wear a black chest wrap that goes behind their kneck, crosses in front to cover their chest, and ties in back beneath their wings. They also wear a pair of fireproof black gloves with the fingertips cut off of them. On their back, straight between their wings, they wear a scabbard containing a hand and a half sword, a shotgun at their side, and a set of knives on the other side. * * Personality: Astaroth resists all expectations, outer and inner. They do what they want, when they want, and how they want to do it, and they do so with a blatant disregard for authority. They act out of a strange, unbreakable source of freedom, choice, and self expression. When someone else tries to tell them what to do, they're liable to do the exact opposite. Highly competitive and driven, they are not one to give up and if they go down, they'll go down fighting if it's the last thing they do. * * Powers: Astaroth has control of fire. This power requires something flammable around, and while it requires little energy and is easy to summon out, it's difficult to control, especially if they don't have much energy. They also have the ability to control bone. It cannot currently be a part of a living body. Basically think telepathically controlled bones flying at you out of the ground. There's a few issues however, such as the fact that it is difficult to access and requires a lot of energy, though it's easy to control. It also has a range of 30 feet and causes a decent amount of pain (it basically feels like their own bones are also trying to tear themselves out of their body.) Family: DM and ask Likes: Astaroth really, really likes setting things on fire. They also like fighting, and can often be found practicing their sword technique or aim. They also enjoy speaking to and befriending the crows, often found with about five or six of them hanging around, and they also seem to enjoy flying around with them. They, very understandably, enjoy complete and total anarchy and chaos. Dislikes: With a distaste for authority of any kind, it is understandable that they don't like law and order of any source. They don't like swimming, and they don't like when things get quiet. Astaroth really and truly hates being tied down in one place and being told what to do and they don't like being forced to give in. They also don't like plans. They always fall apart. Also water. They really don't like water. With good reason, but whether or not I'd be allowed to say why is a different story. Rain is fine though. Strengths: Astaroth is a strong flyer and is actually surprisingly stealthy. They are a good fighter and they seem to know the best places and ways to light a fire. They are also good at hiding bodies and stealing. Maybe a bit too good. Weaknesses: They aren't the best swimmer due to the fact that they don't want anything to do with it. They aren't the most physically strong, instead relying more on their agility. Astaroth also isn't very tolerant to electricity or cold, so an electrified metal net would be a good way to catch them if you could get it on them. |
