"I know it's lovely...I don't want to move either." That was a woman's voice. Very country accent. He was a bit confused until it clicked. Memories of last night was replaying in his head. Her trying to seduce him, them dancing together, the power going out and both of them snuggling against each other...it had been an interesting night. He also remembered the not so good things like the blizzard, the inability to call into base, and the storm. They needed to get a move on and try to reconnect with his base. He didn't hear the wind outside which meant the blizzard was over. They could go back. But he didn't want to move. It was cold and at least right here he had the warmth radiating off of Samara. And the feeling of hands playing with his hair...that felt great. He didn't want to move or make a sound. If he did, it would alert Samara that he was awake and all this good feeling touches might go away. He didn't want that so he kept his eyes closed and tried to not move a muscle.

Samara figured he was indeed still asleep so she kept doing what she was doing. She couldn't believe everything they had been through in such a short amount of time. She sighed softly and quit playing with his hair after a while. She should have been taking all that time trying to leave. After all, there was still a chance that the one high window hadn't been covered up by snow.
Samara bit her lip and looked at the man she was snuggled up with. She'd had more of an enjoyable time than she had in a while, despite everything that happened when she first broke in, but she knew things wouldn't likely work in their favor. After all, she wasn't even sure if any feeling were real.
Samara knew that there was a good chance he'd wake up if she moved, but she started to roll over and hope for the best. If she could get out, she'd leave, but not without letting him know about an easier way out or where she had gone. Samara just had a feeling that going to the Canadian base wouldn't get her home any faster. Even if they were merciful to her and somewhat kind, she could still end up there for a long time.

Fabian was awake. He didn't want to go back to sleep but he also knew it was time to get a move on. They coudn't stay here forever. They needed to get back to base and get proper shelter, food, and care. Staying here wouldn't make them any warmer. He felt the hands through his hair stop. He couldn't help but frown, missing the touch already. He enjoyed Samara's company, the warmth and comfort her presence brought him. But then alarm flashed trough his mind when he felt her stir. Was she getting up? Was she trying to leave? He couldn't help but think she was trying to escape. He wanted to believe she wouldn't but he had forgotten that she was the enemy. She very well could have gotten close to him to miss with him. After all, she did try to seduce him before. Well, there was truly only one way to find out. "Hmmm, where are you going, Miss America?" He decided to pretend that he was simply teasing her. He reached up and took her hand, opening his eyes and grinning,"Morning, beautiful." If she was trying to simply secure him to lower his gaurd, well...two could play that game.

Samara jumped slightly and cursed inwardly as she heard him speak and grab her hand. Had he been awake the whole time? She wasn't sure, but she needed to play it off well. She lowered back down, facing him with a soft smile. "Good morning my love.. I didn't mean to wake you," she said as she gave a soft squeeze to his hand. "I was just going to see if my other clothes had dried yet. I was feeling a good deal cold and I know we have to get going back to your base soon," she said as she leaned into him gently.
The last thing Samara needed was for him to think she was trying to leave. She only hoped he'd believe her. She knew it would look bad to him if she had gained his trust only to leave, which wasn't the case at all. Samara actually did enjoy being with him and a part of her truly hoped to find him adorning her doorstep one day after this was all over. Samara figured then she had lost her chance to leave, as running in the snow was not an easy thing to do. She had no choice but to follow him out to his base.

He was a bit suspicious of her. He didn't want to assume that she would sneak out but he didn't want to take any chances. He didn't want the American soldier to get any ideas, they were going to do this right and head to his base. He wasn't too worried about her, the most the General would do would be generic questioning, the same he had done. "I was just going to see if my other clothes had dried yet. I was feeling a good deal cold and I know we have to get going back to your base soon." He studied her but found himself disbelieving her. There was something off about her facial expression, a red flag characterizing a lie. But it could have been his own fear in assuming the woman had just wanted him to let his gaurd down. Either way, it wasn't happening again. He decided to play along with her tricks, pretending to not find any of what she said suspicious. Besides, why would she jump and curse when he woke, if she wasn't doing something she wasn't supposed to do? "Oh okay then. You do that," He gave her hand a squeeze, doing his best to act nonchalant and like he didn't catch something in her face when she said that. He got up off the floor, letting go of her hand, and stretching a bit to get his muscles warmed up. It was freezing in here and every candle had burned out with the fireplace. It was best to assume that there was still no power. "If anything is still wet, I'm sure there's clothes hiding in the spare rooms of the cabin. I'm going to see if we are going to be digging our way out," He told her, his gaze flickering to her. He wasn't too worried about her escaping through the basement, there was no doubt every entrance or exit of the house down there would be buried,"Before we leave, I will have to pat you down again. Protocol." Edited at November 20, 2022 03:40 PM by Ashes of Night

Samara tried her best to look calm, but every thought in her mind told her he didn't believe her. She just knew he couldn't have. She was letting her affections for this man cloud her judgements. "Right.. I'll be sure to check if needed," she said softly as she got up as well. Samara nodded a bit as he said he'd be patting her down again, which made sense seeing as how he left everything down there. "Yeah, I know, 'protocol'," she said with a smile before deciding to tease a bit. "Just any chance to get your hands on me," she said jokingly before heading down to the basement.
Even if she wanted to leave now, she'd be doing so without weapons or her radio, which was dangerous. Samara cursed as she felt that her clothes were still wet and slightly icy from it being so cold. She headed back up stairs and towards the bedrooms. "Clothes are still wet. I'm going to see what I can find," she called as she passed through.
Samara checked all the bedrooms and only struck lucky in one, which happened to be the room with the highest window in the house. She bit her lip, looking at it. She could leave if it wasn't covered. As Samara pulled out some thermals and come coveralls, she contemplated escaping through the window, but in the end she couldn't bring herself to do it.
Samara uncovered the window, and much to her joy, it was uncovered for the most part. A small tree had fell right in front of it, but it wouldn't be an issue to go out the window. "Fabian, come here!" She called out as she stood in a chair, pushing up on the unlocked window. It was jammed, but if they broke the glass, it would still be easier than digging themselves out.

Fabian barely caught her tease but when he did, he was glad he was facing away. He had gone to folding up the blankets and making the house look like it was slightly less wrecked. When he heard it, his face went a deep shade of red. Goddamn, was this woman always so flirtatious? He heard heavy boot steps as she went downstairs and sighed once they were away. It was going to be long journey back and he wasn't ready. He moved around the room removing every piece of trash bag. Unfortunately, every window was covered with snow. It had to be at least a foot of drifted snow out there. Travelling back was going to be great. He briefly heard the comment about her clothes getting wet and the sound of boots going to the bedrooms. It was just enough to cause a little flicker of fear that she was going to escape but every bedroom window probably looked the same as these ones. "Fabian come here!" He heard Samara shout and pause. Whatever it was, he could here the excitement in her voice. He made his way to where her voice drifted and knocked once to indicate he was going to walk in. "If this is about thermal underwear, I'd rather not picture you wearing some poor old granny thermal panty," He teased, opening the door and slipping inside. He didn't know what to think at first. There was some clothes laying out on the bed and Samara was standing on a chair. It took him a moment to process that they had forgotten a bedroom window, one high up it would have been difficult to cover for Samara. "Now look at you," He walked over to the window and put one foot on the side of the chair beside Samara. The chair was big enough for three feet, not four but that was okay. He pushed himself up on that one foot on the chair, leaning all his weight into it and Samara's left side. He peered out the window, grinning. It was frozen shut but nothing a good old back of the gun would fix. It looked like a relatively safe pathway out as well,"Samara, dear, you are a genius." Samara giggled slightly before responding, "Nah, this is better than thermal underwear, though I did find some." Even if it was granny style thermals, she didn't care as long as she was able to be warm. Samara stayed still as he joined her on the chair so that neither of them fell as the weight was being evened out. She didn't mind him leaning into her either, as it was a bit warm and felt nice in general.
Samara hoped that the fact that she informed him of the window would help her fear of him thinking she was trying to leave. Though leaving was her smarter option, going with him was far safer. "Thanks," she smiled as she glanced at him then back out of the window. "We will have to be careful climbing on the tree, but other than that it sure beats digging out," she said as she turned her gaze back to Fabian. "So what do you say we get dressed and get headed out?" She asked as she leaned a bit closer. The distance between them always ended up to be very small almost every time they were close together.

"Hey I didn't need to know about your undies," He had whispered in response before he had gotten onto the chair to look at what she found. At least now they had their way out of here and they could escape and get back to base. He could do with a fresh change of clothes, a shower, and some tea to warm up. He turned his gaze to Samara as she learned closer to him. His expression was rather curious to what she was doing. Each time they were together, the distance always somehow narrowed. It was odd how that one turned out. He wasn't complaining, at this point he had grown accustomed to how her body felt against his. "I'll leave you to it then," He slipped off the chair and held his hand out to help her off of it,"At least with the old woman's clothes we don't have to worry too much about you losing your fingers." Samara finding their escape route and not taking it did help ease some of Fabian's fears. It made him seem like she had chosen to stay with him. Rather that was for safety or to play some more mind games was up for debate. At least it seemed like the American would stick by him until they got to his base.

Samara nodded and took his hand as she stepped off the chair. "Now that is important. I don't care what I wear as long as I get to keep my fingers," she said as she shook her head. She was mainly just glad they had an easier route out. She'd also decided she would go back to base with him. She wanted for him to truly be able to trust her if their odd relationship was to last. She just hoped she'd be home soon.
As soon as Fabian left the room, Samara began stripping off her clothes so that she could put on the thermal underwear. Once she had those on, she put back on her clothes before topping it off with the coveralls. The coveralls were a bit snug, leading her to believe the old lady that lived there was quite small. It hugged her curves a bit more than she'd like, but at least she'd be warm.
Samara adjusted what she needed to before going out of the room to find Fabian as well as return his jacket which she'd almost forgotten she had. She dreaded leaving the cabin and going out into the cold, but she also knew it would end up being for the best.
