Sorcha only recovered conscious once, when she was being loaded into the ambulance. The air was filled with noise, lots of noise, and she could see flashes of red and blue. But she couldn't move, not just because she had been strapped down. But because she couldn't feel her body. Her body had shut down from the trauma and from the stress of the whole situation. She heard the crying of her two K9's, and she wished she could speak. She wanted Titan and Hades with her. They were her companions, and they were no doubt in immense stress because of the whole situation. But, she couldn't, and soon she was slipping back into darkness.
- A couple days later -
Sorcha awakes with a start, her green eyes flashing open. Her body immediately went into a defense like state, tensing up. The last thing she really remembered was shooting Kieran. Where was she? What had happened after? Where were Titan and Hades? She got the answer to the first question first as she tuned into her surroundings. She could hear the sound of the heart monitor she was attached to. Sorcha could also feel the pain that was still coursing through her body. There was an oxygen mask on her mouth, forcing air in and out of her. Her arms were wrapped tightly with bandages. She could feel the bandage around her left knee and when she twitched her face, she felt the pain from the bruises on her face.
She had no idea what she looked like, but she no doubt looked like hell. She got the answer to her third question soon after she became aware of her surroundings. Sorcha could hear the gentle sounds of breathing of two K9's. Titan and Hades. The familiar sound of them peacefully sleeping calmed Sorcha. Though she couldn't see Titan and Hades from her position, they sounded like they were completely fine.

{We're done with the action, lmao XD! If we wanted to keep them long, we could describe the white walls of the hospital a few thousand times? /Joke} - Ajax ran a hand through his unruly hair, now dressed in a clean pair of jeans and a t-shirt. He had just gotten off of duty with the FHPD and was now walking over to the hospital with Nyx at his side. He was offered to take a break from his work, after all, the situation he was forced into wasn't the best for anyone's mental stability, especially seeing your partner all broken and bloodied in front of you, but Ajax had declined. His mind would consume him if he was left alone for too long, and instead busied himself with rigorously trying to locate Jamie's father. Jamie and her family had been reunited in the hospital when Jamie was sent there to deal with a few minor injuries. Thank the stars that she wasn't injured badly. Now, the young girl, her mother, and her two brothers were in witness protection, waiting for the time when Jamie's father, who was the new major suspect in the case (the FHPD believed that it was possible a drug deal gone wrong between James and Kieran that caused the kidnapping), was found and put behind bars. Kieran was confirmed dead at the scene right after they left. He wouldn't be causing any more problems. Ajax knew he looked terrible. His hair was a mess, his skin paler than normal, and dark bruises under his eyes from the lack of sleep. Regardless, he checked in with the front desk at the hospital, and soon slipped into Sorcha's room, Nyx heading over to lay with his partner's dogs.

(Gasp! I love describing things, even the white walls of the hospital. XD^^)
Sorcha quietly sighs to herself, she hated hospitals. They were too clean in her opinion. And of course, yes, they had to be. But they freaked her out. Not only were they too clean, they were too quiet. Sorcha grew up in a rowdy house, she loved the noise and the chaos. Speaking of which, had her family been informed of what had happened? Sorcha could see her phone, wallet, and other personal belongings that she had left in her cruiser, sitting on the movable side table. But she didn't have the energy or effort to reach out to retrieve them.
She had no doubt her family had been informed and also had no doubt her mother had blown up her phone. Although, what did surprise her was the fact that none of her family was in sight. Had they visited why she had been asleep? Or had they not mad eit over yet? Perhaps the doctors had forbade the family to visit until Sorcha was feeling better. After all, it wasn't like her mother to not be right there beside her. Her mother was a loving and nurturing soul, and freaked out when her children got injured.
Sorcha was pulled back into the world of reality when she heard the door open. Her green eyes flicker open again and a small smile flickers across her face as she spots Ajax entering the room, Nyx at his side. The steady and sleepy breathing of Titan and Hades abruptly stop as the two wake up. Greeting Ajax and Nyx with the wagging of their tails. The two K9's were much more relaxed now that their handler was in their sight and safe.

{I hate silence too, so I feel Sorcha on that T~T} - Ajax leaned down to pet Hades and Titan on their heads, saying a quiet greeting to the dogs before straightening and facing Sorcha, who was propped up in the bed, looking a little better than she did yesterday. She was improving, as she was awake for the first time since she got to the hospital. Her skin was still pale from the blood loss, and all her wounds were wrapped in thick, white bandages. Looking at her made his heart spike with a whirlwind of emotions. Nerves, happiness, worry, irritation, and misplaced anger. The last boiling over and rearing its ugly head. "What the hell were you thinking?" He growled, crossing his arms over his chest and leaning against the doorframe, scowling lightly at her. Nyx's ears perked up, her head swiveling toward her handler, sensing his varying emotions. "You could've been killed! You nearly were! What was going on in your mind that you didn't even radio in for backup on your way to that house? Did you think you could handle it all by yourself?" Ajax ran a hand through his hair, tilting his head to the side to crack his neck, an old anxious habit of his. "That was a stupid thing to do. I don't care if you had your dogs with you, if I hadn't gotten there at the time I did, you would've been killed." He realized a moment too late that he shouldn't have been snapping at Sorcha, as she not only was bedridden and injured, but she had found and saved Jamie without much help from the other officers. (Same^^ It makes me uncomfortable. Like the world isn't meant to be quiet, lmao)
Hades and Titan's tail wags a little more as Ajax greets the two, their tongues hanging out as he pets them. Sorcha was a little curious of why the two were here, not that she was complaining. However, hospitals were known for their cleanness, and even the clean Titan and Hades weren't technically clean enough for hospital standards. So how had they gotten away with it? Perhaps special circumstances had allowed it.
Sorcha shifts slightly, a small groan of pain slipping through her lips as pain flashes through her body. But it also brought her attention to the three IVs sticking in her skin. She frowns at them, she hated needles. Although no doubt, from the looks of it, one was helping replace vitamins, one was helping with hydration that she had lost, and the third (the biggest one) was pumping blood back into her body. The blood she had lost and bled out all over the floor of Kieran's torture basement. Sorcha's head snaps towards Ajax at his words, which caused more pain, but she ignored that as she frowns at Ajax. Sorcha pulls the oxygen mask off to talk.
"I was thinking that a fourteen year old girl had been missing for hours. I was thinking our time was running out to find her, and she could have ended up dead or sold off into a sex trade or something else sketchy. I was thinking about saving Jamie." She fires back. She was too tired for this. She didn't want to get scolded, she didn't want to be treated like a child! She wasn't a child, she was a grown women, allowed to make her own damn decisions. She'd seen an opportunity to save a little girl and she had taken it. Dammit. She didn't care that she had almost lost her life in the process. That was just a part of the job.
Sorcha's green eyes grow dark,"There was a huge snow storm going on, if you don't recall. I had a ten minute window when the storm let up and by the time I reached Kieran's, the storm was picking back up. It's a fifteen minute drive from the station. I didn't have time to wait for backup." She turns her head away from Ajax not wanting to look at him. "I didn't know if I could handle it on my own. The only thing I cared about in that moment was saving Jamie. That was my priority."
Sorcha's eyes were cold now, she was pissed. "I know!" She hisses, whipping her head back around to glare at Ajax. She was done with this. All of this had stressed her back out and she had tensed up, so now her body was hurting all over again. The monitor was about to freak out, Sorcha's blood pressure was going up and her heartbeat was picking up to. "I don't care if I would have been killed! I found where the little girl was! I wasn't willing to wait any longer for back up. Would you have rather me wait for you and backup? So we could go down those damn stairs and find Jamie's dead body?"
She takes a deep breath, turning her head back away. "I may be rookie in rank, Scorcher. But that doesn't make me an actual rookie. So don't scold me like a child. If that's all your here to do then leave."

{It really isn't lmao. I have serious Sedatephobia, and if everything is completely silent, I'll break down and start crying XD} - "And in those ten minutes, you didn't think once to radio it in? To at least let someone know where you were going and what you had found out?" Ajax snapped back, his anger blazing up. Nyx's ears lowered to her head, weaving between her handler's legs, gazing between the two officers anxiously. "What if you couldn't have gotten Jamie out? What if Kieran had gotten a hold of both of you, and the rest of us had no idea where you were? You both would've been killed or whatever he was planning to do! I don't care that you went in by yourself, I'm fucking furious that you didn't notify anyone! An hour, Sorcha. A goddamn hour. It took me that long to get to you, and if I was even a moment late, you would've been shot!" His voice lost its volume and dipped into a more distressed tone. Ajax slunk over to the chair that was situated next to her bed and slumped down into it, covering his face with his hands and letting out a strained breath. "Shit, Sorcha...I'm sorry." He muttered, ducking his head lower. His mind flashed back to the funeral for his mother, six years ago. Since she was killed in combat and Ajax had distanced himself from everyone around him, even his siblings and father, Sorcha was the first person he had gotten close to. Even if the situations were completely different, he couldn't think of losing her like he had lost his mother. "I know you're not a rookie. Hell, you're one of the best officers we have. If only-" If only I found those clues before you, to with you. If only I had been a little faster, a little smarter, you wouldn't be in the state you're in now. You wouldn't have almost died. His throat closed up, and he shut his eyes tightly to force the feelings and memories down. Ajax stood up abruptly, his fingers tapping against the side of his leg with nerves. "I'll leave though, if that's what you'd like. I should. You're still in pretty bad condition. You were in a medically induced coma for around three and a half days." He slowly walked to the door but stopped when his hand closed around the door knob. He turned his head to face her, his gray eyes weighed down by guilt and grief. "You're family has been contacted. The doctors didn't want them to come in to visit you while you were in critical condition, but I think that they'll let them in now. Get better, Sorcha." He turned his head back around and opened the door, stepping out into the corridor, and clicking his tongue. Nyx padded out after sending his partner and her dogs one last look and a little whine. Ajax closed the door to Sorcha's room, leaning against the doorframe and letting out a low sigh.

(Oh no, I hate phobias! Eek^^)
Sorcha's jaw tightens. She did, she did think to radio it in. But she acted on the moment. She knew where Jamie was, she was there, and she didn't know how long was left. She hadn't wanted to waste precious time stopping to radio it in. There would have been no telling how long that would have taken. In the heat of the moment, it was the best thing to do. Now? She was starting to regret it, only because she was not enjoying getting scolded like a child by her partner.
She refused to answer. She didn't have to explain herself. At least not while Ajax was screaming at her. Maybe later, in a more civilized conversation when Sorcha was out of the hospital and in better shape. All of these things Ajax was firing at her? What if she couldn't have gotten Jamie out? She had thought about that the whole time over, but all she knew, was she had to try. At least try, no matter the consequence. Sometimes, protocol had to be broken to save a life, and Sorcha truly believed that she had to break protocol to save Jamie's life.
Sorcha's head turns slightly as Ajax slumped down in the chair that was beside her bed. Her expression did not change as he apologized. She would forgive him, but in that moment, she was pissed at him. If she knew that when she woke up, she would be scolded and yelled at, she would have just stayed asleep. She sighs, her voice softer then it had been a few seconds ago. "If only what Ajax? You can't live your life thinking about the if only's. If only I had gotten Jamie out quicker. If only Kieran had gotten caught up in his house a little longer. If only the snow storm hadn't come back. If only I had slowed down to grab more protection. If only got me no where."
Sorcha stares at Ajax, she didn't think he would actually leave. "Ajax..." Her voice was filled with confusion and a mix of other emotions even she couldn't figure out. But she didn't say anything else as Ajax walked to the door. She didn't know what to say. She listens silently as Ajax informs her that her family would probably be there soon, and states to get better, before he steps out the room. The door swings shut behind Ajax and Sorcha whispers. "Thanks." But it was too late and the words fell on empty ears.
"Shit!" Sorcha slams her hand against the railing on the bed which of course only caused her more pain. Sorcha groans,"Shit." That was not how she was expecting that visit to go.

{We do love some good angst, LMAO!} - Ajax pushed off of the wall and began to walk slowly down the halls of the hospital, making his way through the large building to the lobby. The bright white walls and the blinding fluorescent lights that glared down at him blurred around him, all looking a little too bright to look at. Nyx was trailing right behind him, causing a few of the nurses and workers to give them curious looks. Before any of them could ask him what he was doing with an unleashed dog in the building or ask him to leave, Ajax made his way to the front of the building and was about to exit the large hospital. His mind was in turmoil. He felt slightly unsteady, the lack of sleep finally catching up to him. His emotions were still running ramped, unchecked, and spiking randomly. He cracked his wrists, then his neck again as he sighed. That wasn't how that was supposed to go. I messed up. He thought bitterly, chewing himself out in his mind. He knew he shouldn't have snapped, that he shouldn't have gotten angry at Sorcha for just doing her job, but he panicked, and everything just spilled out. Not in the way that he wanted it to be, but Ajax was never very good with his emotions, or with his people skills. Just before he left the building, he felt his phone buzz in the back pocket of his jeans. Ajax's brows furrowed, as no one should be calling him. He didn't really have a lot of friends, and the department told him that they'd lay off on the jobs they'd been giving him for a little while. So if it was them, something bad must have happened. Ajax swiftly pulled out his phone and read the caller ID. Caller ID Unknown. Underneath, the number that was listed looked unfamiliar to him. Odd. Ajax just assumed it was a scam call or something and declined the call, slipping it back into his pocket. He left the hospital with Nyx and began to walk back to his apartment, only for his phone to go off again. And, once again, the same number flashed at him from his screen. Whoever was calling was probably not going to stop until he picked up, so Ajax bit the bullet and stepped to the side of the sidewalk so as to not obstruct the pathway, and answered the call. "I was wondering how long it would take you to pick up. I've been looking for a way to contact you for forever now." The hoarse voice on the other side caused Ajax's body to tense up, his eyes narrowing. "C'mon, 'Jax. I know this is you. I got your phone number from your brother, so don't try to deny it. I just want to talk." "Why now? It's been years, dad. Why the sudden interest?" "Because I realize how bloody stupid I've been. That I could've lost my son without ever saying goodbye or making up. Please. I just want to talk." Edited at December 16, 2023 12:09 AM by Soulsilver

Sorcha sighs, resting her head back against the pillow. It wasn't like she could just get up and run after Ajax. Hell, she could barely move as it was. Much less get out of bed and chase down someone who was probably outside the hospital by now. He has to come back. Sorcha reasoned. He wouldn't stay away forever right? They were still partners, and even if he didn't visit again in the hospital. Sorcha would return to work, she wouldn't be in the hospital forever. She'd recover enough to return to the field. After all, even Kieran admitted the injury to her knee would not cause permanent damage.
Sorcha opens her eyes and reaches for her phone, unlocking it as she taps on the phone icon. Yup, she had at least a hundred calls from her mother and dozens from the rest of the family. She was honestly scared to click over to her messages. However, before she could even close the phone app. The door to her room was opened and in came her family. Well, her parents and her three siblings. They all piled in, looking stressed, relieved, and worried all at once. They were speaking over each other, switching from English to Scottish Gaelic and Sorcha's head began to hurt.
Sure, she loved the chaos, but even this was way too much chaos. She couldn't understand anything they were saying. "Whoa! Calm down! One at a time. In one language!" She finally calls out, gathering their attention as they gather around the bed. Titan and Hades lift their heads, but they don't move from their spot on the floor. Rhea, Sorcha's mother, leans over. "Oh! America! We were so worried when we got the call!" Sorcha grimaces, she hadn't been called by her first name in years, that really did mean that her mother was worried. Colin, Sorcha's father leans over on the other side.
"They told us you had been fatally injured on the job! Clearly, not fatal enough, but still." Sorcha waves off her parents concerns,"I'm fine! I'm fine!" Sorcha's eldest sister, Savannah snorts. "Fine? Sorcha, honey, your in a hospital bed. All bandaged up on your arms and your knee. Your face is terribly bruised, you have an oxygen mask on your face. And do you know how much pain medicine they've been giving you?" Sorcha frowns at Savannah. She loved all her family, but they could be just a little overprotective.
Sorcha glances at her other two siblings, Theo and Lexi, the two she had always been closest to. The two smile at her, worry etched into their faces. Theo sighs,"I'm just glad your alive." Lexi nods,"The doctor says that you'll heal well. Your knee won't take any permanent damage and the bruises and cuts on your face will fade." Lexi's eyes flicker to the bandages on Sorcha's arms,"But.... He says your arms will scar." Sorcha shrugs,"I don't care if they scar."
Colin muses,"We are glad you are alive. And, we are also very proud of you. Cracking a case on your own!" Rhea nods,"And finding the kid on your own!" Savannah tips her head,"Getting caught and tortured though?" Sorcha glares at her eldest sister,"That wasn't really part of the plan, Sav." Edited at December 16, 2023 12:40 AM by Dagger Pack

{I realized I messed up the whole sibling thing lol. I will clear this up quickly- He has an older brother, Jack, and two younger twin sisters, Olivia and Lilly.} Ajax stayed silent for a few moments, tempted to say no to his father's request to talk, but then he thought about his siblings, and if they were on speaking terms with their father, then he supposed it was alright. "Alright. I'll talk." He said. "I'll send you my apartment address so we can talk there. I suppose Jack'll be there too?" "And your sisters. We decided that we should all finally makeup. It's been long enough." Ajax nodded absent-mindedly, hanging up and shooting Matt a text containing his address. Nyx butted her head against his leg, gazing up at him with her big green eyes which seemed to glistening with worry. Ajax sighed and rubbed her head, scratching behind her ears. "Let's go meet the family, shall we?" He muttered. - The air was thick with anxiety and nerves as the Scorcher family stood several feet away from everyone else. Ajax leaned against his kitchen counter, Lilly and Olivia sat at the table, Jack stared at everyone from the couch, and Matt stood near the door. Ajax took time in the tense silence to look over his estranged family. Jack, who as far as he knew went into the mechanic or engineering line of work, looked as healthy and fit as ever. He looked similar to him, only having lighter hair, a ducky brown color. Olivia and Lilly had grown up but still looked identical to their mother with their light blue eyes and mousy brown hair. He didn't know what they were doing at that point, but they were 22, so they must have been doing something that allowed them to live life comfortably. Matt seemed to be doing a lot better, but the years of drinking had taken a toll on his body. He was still gaunt, but he was looking a lot better from the last time they had seen each other. "We saw you." Olivia was the one who spoke first. "On TV, that is. We saw the case." "Yeah. It was weird, seeing my little brother having done such a big thing. You're a hero, y'know." Jack piped up, waving one of his hands around. "You and your partner." He glanced down at the dog by Ajax's feet. "I suppose this is your new canine? I didn't know Cliff retired." Jack was the only one he ever really talked to, even if it was only once every month or so. Cliff was his old dog. Ajax shrugged. "He was a good dog, but got a little old to work in the department. He's living comfortably with his new family. This is Nyx." He didn't like being called a hero when it was Sorcha who did all of the work. Finally, after a few moments of tense silence, Matt spoke. "I never got over our fight, Ajax. I understand that emotions were running high, but it was never right to say that. Both of us said things that we shouldn't have. I realized that it was stupid, to hold a grudge against you when I saw you on the news. You could've died, and I would've never said the apologies I've wanted to say for a while. I've been an awful father," He glanced at his four kids. "To all of you. And though I know it'll take more than just my words, I'm so sorry. For everything." Ajax sighed, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. The tension melted out of his body. "And I'm sorry for being such a brat. I said some really bad things." He looked at the ceiling. "And I'm sorry for never trying to stay in contact with all of you." Jack snorted. "That's on all of us, mate, not just you. We were all acting like twats." Lilly looked up. "It's been a while since we've all hung out at the amusement park." She mused. "We should do that again." Olivia rolled her eyes and laughed humorously. "You just want to go for the rides and candy, don't you?" Lilly flushed slightly but nodded anyway. Ajax couldn't help but smile. "Well, how about we take this little reunion to one?" (Sorry, I'm really bad at righting reunions lmao! Trying to get better:_ ) Edited at December 16, 2023 02:58 PM by Soulsilver
