Sorcha sighs at Ajax's response, so neither one of them were very hopeful on the James Hawkens lead. Hell, Sorcha wasn't very hopeful on the case in general. The whole case was almost impossible. Whoever had kidnapped Jamie had planned it well. As the snow began to fall faster and thicker, Sorcha frowns. They would have to return back to the station, they wouldn't be able to work in this. No matter how much they wanted to. She nods in agreement with Ajax,"No point in putting ourselves in danger, we'll be no help to Jamie buried in snow or stuck in the hospital with frostbite, or worse."

-Later That Night-

Sorcha lounges on her couch, with Titan sprawled out against her side and Hades on the carpet. The younger German Shepherd was chewing on a bone while Titan was fast asleep. The TV was on, but Sorcha wasn't paying attention to it, she had it on for background noise. Sorcha was too distracted by her computer which had all of the information gathered about Jamie Hawkens on it. Recently added was the information gathered about James Hawkens, both the information gathered by the interview with Mrs. Hawkens and what the department had managed to dig up.

The APB had come up empty but that was no surprise. The snow storm that had forced Ajax and Sorcha to return to the station had also forced everyone to go home. It would be stupid for anyone to be out in the street in this. Sorcha sighs as she pulls up the pictures. Clicking through them, pausing only to examine them. However by the third time she'd done it, nothing new came up and Sorcha was ready to slam her computer shut in frustration. She brought her hands down aggressively which caused her to hit multiple buttons on the keyboard.

"Shit." She mutters, hoping she hadn't screwed anything up. But nothing had popped up, no sticky keys, nothing. Except, she had managed to enlarge one of the photos. The photo of Jamie's house the day before Jamie was kidnapped. Sorcha's eyes went wide as she realized what she had accidentally zoomed in on. "No way." She whispers as she scrambles for a paper and pen. She pulls up all the pictures side by side, examining each one closer. Closing the pictures that held no information, while keeping up ones that held the same clue as the first one.

In the end she had five pictures with the same exact clue. Two of them had part of a car in the frame, same make, model, and color. While the other three had the same car from the back. How had they missed this? Sorcha sighs, they had been looking at the pictures separately, and in each separate picture, the license plate number wasn't fully in the picture. But together the three pictures spelled out the license plate number. KLP556. She sits up straighter as she clicks over to the police's system, signing in before pulling up the license plate system. She plugs the numbers in, hoping that the car was registered and hadn't been stolen.

Kieran Barajas. She then switches over to the criminal records system and types the name in. It pulled up the picture of a caucasian male around the age of thirty. His records showed multiple times in jail for many different crimes. Battery, assault with a deadly weapon, intoxication, DUIs, and more. However, two specific ones caught her attention. Drug dealing and kidnapping. So, this had to do with the father. At least that is what she was banking on. A drug deal gone bad? So he kidnapped James' daughter as punishment?

(Sorry this is so long, XD. I tried to make it shorter. I also thought I'd split it up into two posts. One where she figures it out and the second one where she takes off and gets captured.)

{Don't apologize! I'm just worried that I won't be able to match your length, lol! And what's funny, I started typing this up and then realized that the space bar on my keyboard wasn't working. What's weird is that it moved up and down, and when I would move back to put the spaces for the words that were stuck together, the space bar worked. Sorcha may have not messed up her keyboard, but she did mess up mine for a little while. I had to refresh the page to get it working again lol. If it's alright, I'm just gonna talk about Ajax's family situation a little for somewhat of a filler.}
-
Ajax had decided to stay at the station for a couple more hours after he and Sorcha had gotten back. He felt too restless to go home, knowing that he'd only start worrying about the case and overthinking things again. Nyx didn't seem to mind, though, as she followed Ajax as he went around the practically empty station, cleaning and organizing whatever he could find to try and keep his mind off of the dire case. Even though cleaning the station was normally tasked with the chore, Ajax just needed something to keep his mind busy.
Because the snow storm had driven the rest of the K9 officers home, other than the night guards, he was able to clean the majority of the building without much issue. Deciding next to deal with the kennels, he went to the hangar that held the kennels and started with Nyx's so she could lay down while he worked. She did so, and he went on working, his body going on autopilot as his mind began to wander back to the case.
Once again, he thought about how Jamie's disappearance was most likely connected with her father. He still couldn't understand why people could do things the blood-related family, but he had learned long ago to not question the decisions of criminals. That was a job for the Forensic Phycologists. He never had a close relationship with his parents or siblings, but he couldn't even imagine his father doing something like this to him or his brothers and sister.
Ever since their mother died, his father fell back into drugs. He and his siblings couldn't stay there with him, so the youngest of the group was sent to foster care since he and his two older siblings could barely support themselves in the meantime. Their father was still in rehab programs and was a near-permanent patient there. This, of course, left a lot of stress on family relations, but without a doubt, he'd be damned if anything like that happened to his family.
Ajax sighed, shaking the dark memories and thoughts from his head as he went to sit next to Nyx's kennel, laying a hand between his dog's ears and rubbing her head. In hindsight, he wasn't the smartest, having stuck himself and Nyx at the station as most of the roads had been shut down due to the heavy snowfall. They would have to wait for the snow to be cleared by the plows before they could get out of there.

(Don't worry about matching the length, XD, I care more about quality of the post than the length of it.^^. And huh, that is weird, XD. And yup, I like to talk about random stuff to fill space as well, LMAO)

Sorcha then clicked over to find the residence of Kieran, she could only hope that the criminal was stupid enough to keep Jamie on his property. Finding Kieran's home was easy and soon Sorcha was on the move. Her computer, half closed but still on, and her notes went on the coffee table and she was on her feet. Which of course prompted her two German Shepherds to lift their heads up. "Come on boys." She'd take both. Titan because he was more experienced and Hades because he was younger and more fit. It didn't take long to suit up the two, with police vests and warming gear and soon she had some of her own on as well.

Sorcha loads her German Shepherds up into her unmarked and the trio were off. She didn't dare turn on her sirens and lights, in fear that Kieran would be tipped off. Although once she got close, she realized that Kieran was indeed stupid enough to keep Jamie on his property. Because he lived on the outskirts of town where he owned about twenty acres, and hidden by trees was a shed. Which Sorcha could barely see because of all the snow that had fallen. The snow storm which had slowed down, had picked back up again. She would have to be fast or this rescue mission would be for nothing.

As Sorcha parks, far enough away that Kieran wouldn't see her car, she sighs. Should she call Ajax? Would she need backup? No. No she didn't. It was one guy, and she could handle herself. Besides, there may not be time to wait for backup. She leaves all her valuables in the car's hidden compartment, including the keys. Even if she locked the keys inside, there was a keypad that would allow her back in. Sorcha climbs out and lets the German Shepherd's out, locking the car behind them. Sorcha pulls her face mask up to both hide her face and protect it from the bitter wind.

Sorcha pulls her gun out and starts creeping towards the house, Titan and Hades fanning out beside her. They remained low to the ground, moving as quietly as they could.

Once the trio arrived at the shed, she found it locked. Sorcha curses as she puts her gun away, fumbling for her lock pick kit, pulling her gloves off to start to pick. Hades and Titan pacing behind her as look out. Thankfully, she got it unlocked quickly and she shoves the kit back in her pocket. Pulling her gun back out as she nudges the door open. Inside was a staircase that led downwards, no doubt towards a secret bunker of some kind.

With her gun at the ready, she creeps down the stairs, and finds yet another door, this one was unlocked. Sorcha glances at her two companions, takes a death breath, and pushes open the door. A gasp escapes her lips at what she sees. It was a medium sized room. There was a small bed in the corner, and a table with a bunch of tools (no doubt used for torture) laid out. And in the middle was Jamie. She was in the chair, bound and gagged, awake and very alive. Sorcha sighs in relief as she rushes over.

She holsters her gun as she works on releasing Jamie. "Jamie, I'm Sorcha. I'm with the FHPD." As soon as Jamie's gag was out she gasps,"You have to leave! He'll be back soon!" Sorcha shakes her head,"No. I'm getting you out." Jamie rubs her freed wrists as she stares,"How?" Sorcha undoes her vest straps, fitting all her gear over Jamie. So that Jamie was fitted with the police vest and warming gear. As Jamie stumbles to her feet, Sorcha does a once over. She was injured, to an unknown extent, but she seemed able to remain on her feet.

"How badly are you injured?" Jamie waves off her concern,"I'll do anything to get out." Sorcha nods,"Good, stay behind me. Boys, flank her." Titan and Hades move to stand beside Jamie, but before they could move, they heard a sound. The door opening, Kieran was back.

Sorcha shoves the gun in Jamie's hand, whispering. "Hide over there. When he comes down, I'll jump him. Once he's distracted, run. The boys will follow you, and then guide you to my car. The passcode is 7667. I know your only 14, but this is an emergency. Once you turn the car on, turn on the GPS. It will automatically direct you to the police station. Take it slow and you will be fine. Find Ajax Scorcher." Jamie's eyes go wide,"What about you?"

There was no chance to reply as the sound of footsteps grow closer and Sorcha pushes Jamie into the shadows by the stairs, the boys moving beside Jamie, crouching low. Sorcha moves to the other side, ready to ambush Kieran.

As soon as Kieran appeared, Sorcha leaped on him, knocking him to the ground. Using the element of surprise as she wrestles with the male, who she knew would quickly gain the upper hand. He was definitely stronger, but Sorcha was lithe. Jamie takes off, the German Shepherd on her heels as she stumbles out the shed, leaving Sorcha behind.

(Do you want to take over controlling Jamie? So she can reach the station and inform Ajax all in the next post?)

{Yeah, I agree lmao! My mind's all over the place right now, ngl. And yeah, that would make the most sense!}
-
Jamie stumbled up the stairs, the heavy weight of the police gear feeling like lead on her underweight and severely malnourished body. The two dogs behind her wouldn't let her slow down though, as they kept nudging her forward from behind. She finally made it out of the shed and was met with a face full of icy snowflakes and harsh, biting wind. She froze for a moment, not understanding where to go.
One of the dogs, the one who had small silvery hairs flecked in with his normal tan and brown coat, mainly around his muzzle, took her hand gently in his mouth and started to tug her in a direction. Deciding to trust the dogs, as she would freeze to death or be kidnapped again (both of which would mean that the woman's struggle and sacrifice would be in vain), Jamie let herself be led along, tripping over something buried in the snow or sinking into large, hidden snow drifts. Despite the warming gear on her body, the frigid water soaked into the flimsy pants she was wearing.
By the time the police cruiser came into view, Jamie's legs were numb, and her teeth were chattering uncontrollably. She leaned against the driver's side door, her stiff fingers fumbling with the keypad. What did that woman say the code was? 7668? No, that's not it. 7665, 7667! There it was! 7667! Hurriedly, Jamie punched the combination into the keypad, holding her breath as she waited for something to happen. A slight click that would've been lost in the sounds of the snowstorm if she hadn't been listening so hard reached Jamie's ears.
Jamie yanked the driver's side door open quickly, the heat that had been stored up in the closed car hitting her in the face like a sigh of relief. It still stung her face, but in a good way, as it would bring back feeling into her pale skin. The two dogs jumped into the car, copping over the main console and into the back.
Jamie slid into the seat carefully, slamming the car door shut behind her. Her eyes scanned over the car with a worried glint in her eyes. Sure, she'd played those cheap car racing games at the arcade with her friends before, but never had she thought that she'd be driving a car before she turned 16. Never. If the situation wasn't so dire, she would've thought that this was epic.
Remembering the woman's words from before, she fumbled to turn on what she thought was the GPS, her fingers still stiff from the cold. She then hastily turned on the car itself, the engine rumbling to life smoothly. Heat began to pump into the inside of the car. C'mon, Jamie. It's just a car. Just a car, you gotta do it. Just drive. It'll be easy! Just like they do it in the movies.
It wasn't easy.
She'd have to apologize to the woman once she was rescued and they both were safe because the police cruiser wasn't in the best shape at the end of the night. She was 14! She hadn't even gotten her learner's permit, and here she was, half frozen and starved to death, driving a car in the middle of a snowstorm. Brilliant.
Go to the police station, find Ajax Scorcher. He'll know what to do in this situation.
-
Once again, for the umpteenth time, Ajax Scorcher was doing another round around the station in the dead of night, unwilling to go home in that mess of a snowstorm. He spoke to the night guards briefly over something or another, he didn't remember and honestly, he didn't care. He thought he'd end up dying of boredom before the night was over, but he was sorely mistaken.
The screech of rubber tires on wet asphalt met his ears as he walked near the front of the building, making him wince slightly. He looked outside to see the black shape of a police cruiser stopped haphazardly in the middle of the parking lot, looking as if it had seen better days. Whichever rookie was driving that thing was going to get a hell of a mouthful from the chief. Wouldn't want to be them.
But he stopped short when the form that stepped out of the car looked young...like, shockingly young. Teenager young. He inhaled sharply as he ran to unlock the doors, yelling out to the night guards to help him. They unlocked the doors the moment the form made it to them, and Ajax reached forward and pulled the body into the building. Two dogs, ones he recognized as Hades and Titan, followed in, and the doors were shut tightly against the storm once again.
Jamie. Jamie Hawkens was standing hunched over in front of him, in his partner's gear, with his partner's dogs, but without Sorcha. Not to mention, hadn't she been kidnapped? How'd she escape?
Ajax's mind was running a mile a minute until the girl's shaky, soft voice broke him out of the trance he was in. "A-are y-y-you Aj-jax?"
Ajax nodded, guiding her further into the building where the heat was stronger. Nyx had heard the commotion and had come out, going straight to Jamie before Ajax shooed her away, and then his dog went over to the other K9 dogs.
"I'm Ajax Scorcher, senior officer at the FHPD. Jamie, I know everything is crazy right now, and I know you're scared, and I understand that. I am too. But we're going to protect you from now on, alright? Nothing's going to happen to you on my watch. But I need you to answer my questions. First off, where's my partner, Sorcha MacKintosh? The woman who this gear and the dogs with you belong too?"

Sorcha's element of surprise was fading fast and because she'd rushed out of the house so fast, she hadn't even equipped all her gear. And what she had equipped, she'd given to Jamie for protection. She had nothing but her wits and her training. But the Kieran was bigger and tougher, used to life in gangs, mafias, and prisons. Sorcha gasps in pain as Kieran slams his elbow into her ribs. Crack. From the pain, her ribs had either just broke or were fractured. She had to get out, she was fast on her feet. She could at least out run Kieran now that Jamie was gone.

But Kieran was fighting with vengeance and Sorcha soon found herself pinned down, unable to move. But she'd put up a hell of a fight. Both of them were panting hard, and neither one was unscathed. Kieran had landed blows on her face and in her ribs. Now that she was still, she was positive that her ribs were broken. While she couldn't see out of her right eye, no doubt a black eye. And she could taste blood, she didn't know if she had bit her tongue or if he'd busted her lip.

While Kieran had some marks on his own on him. Sorcha had clawed his arms and there was a faint scratch mark on his face where she'd gotten him. There were also patches of black, purple, and blue blossoming on his face where Sorcha had gotten some good licks in. Kieran sneers down at the cop,"Who the hell are you." Sorcha's green eyes flash as she spits at Kieran who just barely ducks the gob of spit and blood. Feeling Kieran's weight shift, Sorcha launches herself upward with as much strength as she could, hoping to unbalance him and gain the upper hand again.

However, Kieran was quickly and swiftly shifted his weight back. Shoving Sorcha back down. She let out a groan of pain as her head slammed into the concrete and her vision became blurry and black. "You'll pay for releasing that little girl." Sorcha smiles, her teeth red from the blood dripping from her busted lip and from the huge hole she'd just bitten out of the side of her mouth when he'd slammed her head down. "I dare you to try, bitch." Kieran's eyes flash with rage and he lifts his fist. Sorcha braces herself as Kieran lets loose, knocking Sorcha out.

- Titan & Hades -

The two dogs had obeyed their owner, leading Jamie to safety. Including plowing through the snow at the station to get inside. Where Ajax was, and soon Nyx arrived. Hades and Titan were panting, now hot in their gear as they waited patiently. However, their patience could hold out no longer. Hades started pawing at the ground, whining in frustration. He had left his handler! He wasn't supposed to leave his handler! While Titan's reaction was bigger. The older, retired K9, was usually very calm and patient. He never barked and he obeyed with ease.

Now, Titan barged forward, sniffing at Jamie. Specifically the gear she wore. Sorcha's gear. It smelled like Sorcha, but the officer was nowhere in sight. The large German Shepherd started weaving frantically around Jamie and Ajax, letting out growls and whines. They needed to go now! They had left Sorcha behind and Titan remembered that she was being attacked! It had taken Titan and Hades all of their willpower to obey their handler and get Jamie out safely instead of turning around and attacking the man that was hurting Sorcha.

But now Jamie was safe, and Sorcha was still in danger! Titan made a tight twist, whining. Hades approaches Titan, sniffing and licking at the older K9. Which, Titan allowed for a minute before he bared his teeth and snapped at Hades', a vicious snarl rising. Which caused Hades to fall down and cower, Titan had never done that before. The usually calm and patient K9 was on edge.

Jamie looked uncertain as she began to speak. "Sorcha, I don't know how, but she found out where I was being held. She came into the cellar or basement or wherever I was being held and freed me, but the guy who kidnapped me, I think his name is Kieran, came back. She jumped him, giving me time to get away with those two dogs. They brought me to the car. I tried to get here as quickly as possible, but I don't know how much time has passed. Please, you have to go help her! She was fighting with the man when I left."
Ajax cursed in his head. He recognized that name. Kieran was a man that the FHPD was constantly struggling with, always having issues with him or his gangs and drug and weapon rings. Sorcha must've found something on him while she was at her home after they had parted ways for the night. She'd gone out to deal with this case herself, without even alerting the station of her plan or her location. It was beyond reckless of her to do that, but he couldn't focus on them. Titan and Hades were obviously in immense distress, while Nyx stared up at him, waiting for orders.
"Jacob, take Jamie into one of the offices further into the building and get her warmed up. Stay with her until I get back or the chief arrives." Ajax ordered one of the night guards. Turning to the other, he told them the address to Keiran's main house. "Call for backup immediately. Send them there. Also, get a medic here to check on Jamie's injuries. We can't let those go unattended for very long. Nyx, grab your vest." His canine wasted no time and darted off to the kennels, where her vest was still laid by her bed. Ajax was grateful that he didn't have enough time to put it away. Nyx would have to fair without foot protection, but she'd be fine.
The night guards did exactly as he said, and as he glanced back at Jamie, he saw her looking back with worry etched deep into her face. "It'll be fine. We're taking that man down, for good this time." He grabbed his vest, as well as his gun. He opened the front doors to the department and ordered Titan and Hades to the car they had come from. He stepped outside just as Nyx ran after them, her vest clamped tightly in her jaws.
The car had seen better days. They would have to have it fixed if it wasn't already totaled, but it would work. It was also the only car that wasn't blockaded by snow, and it had a clear path back to Keiran's house. He ran after the dogs and opened the door for the three of them briefly, before shutting it and getting into the driver's side. Nyx struggled into the vest, with a little help from Ajax's hand that he reached back to help. Ajax wasted no time in pulling out and barring through the empty streets toward where he hoped his partner was.
One thought kept flashing through his mind. Sorcha didn't know about Keiran. She had no idea about the things he had done. No one in the FHPD did fully, but Sorcha was in even more darkness. But Ajax did not doubt that the man could kill her, without hesitation. Sorcha wouldn't have left Jamie to get to the police department on her own if she could help it, meaning that she was either still fighting (unlikely) or restrained. He didn't even want to think about the third option.
In the time they worked together, Ajax had come to enjoy Sorcha and her dogs. She was practical, independent, and incredible in the field.
"Don't worry, guys." He muttered, half to himself. "We'll get her back."

Sorcha awoke in the same damn room. Fury spread through her, she was still in this stupid room? And sitting on the stairs, awaiting her to awake, was Kieran. He chuckles coldly as he rises to his feet,"Good morning sunshine." Sorcha's lips twist in a sneer,"Go to hell." Kieran approaches the table, another low chuckle escaping his lips. He turns back around with a knife and Sorcha raises her eyebrow. "A knife?" Kieran grins,"Oh, don't worry, I'm not going to cut anything off. Oh, no. That's not that much fun." He steps closer, bringing the blade down to trace against her skin. "But, I am going to draw on you."

Fear flickers through Sorcha, but she refuses to let it show. What had she gotten herself into? Maybe she should have waited for back up. But the snow storm had picked up again, there was no way they would have been able to arrive. Jamie would have been dead. Pain sears through Sorcha as Kieran digs the blade in, starting with a simple line down her arm. He repeats the same on the other arm, and still, Sorcha refuses to make a sound. She wasn't going to give Kieran the satisfaction of hearing her scream.

Even as Kieran decorated her arms in symbols and marks, most all were random, there was no pattern to them. They were just there to cause pain, but while they were succeeding, Sorcha was only slipping back into the darkness. Was she succumbing to her wounds? She prayed not. She wasn't ready to die, especially not at the hands of this sick twisted man. With that thought in mind, Sorcha forces herself back awake, forcing the blackness away. No! She wasn't going to die! Jamie should have made it to the station by now. Back up should be on it's way. She just had to survive a little longer.

However, clearly her lack of screaming was pissing Kieran off. He pulls away, an annoyed look on his face. "Fine. I'll move on." He sets the blood soaked blade down and picks up a hammer. A slimmer of fear races through Sorcha as she eyes the hammer. Kieran turns back to face her, a cruel grin twisting his face. "You ever heard of this torture method?" Sorcha lifts her chin defiantly, refusing to answer, and Kieran continues. "The torturer takes the hammer and smashes it into the knee. But, the point is to only cause enough damage to hurt. So, lucky for you, detective. You'll recover, with no permanent damage to your knee." Kieran laughs,"Well, if you make it long enough to recover."

A true flash of fear moved through Sorcha, this crazy man was going to kill her. He was just playing with her, like prey. Her only hope was to draw out the torture as long as possible. No matter how bad it hurt.

This time, Sorcha couldn't hold back the howl of pain as the hammer came smashing into her left knee. No doubt, he'd shattered the bone and busted the skin. She could already feel the blood soaking through her pants. And of course, her sudden jerk of movement caused by the pain, had only caused more pain in her broken ribs. Her vision grew black again and Sorcha knew without a doubt. She was going to die. Either from blood loss or Kieran just ending her. She didn't know which would come first, but she was begging for death now. The pain was unbearable, but still, she grit her teeth and refused to make anymore noise. Even this close to death she wouldn't give Kieran the satisfaction.

Kieran studies Sorcha, noting the emptiness creeping into her eyes. It was time for the fun to end. He'd chosen the torture methods that would kill her quickly. Kieran curses himself, he'd wanted to have fun with the pretty little detective. But he supposed he better put her out of her misery. Especially before the cops showed up, even in this snow storm, he had no doubt they were on their way. He now had one of their own. Kieran places the hammer down, picking up the gun that was laid on the table.

It was the same gun he had loaded to finish off the little girl the detective had saved. At least the bullet wasn't going to waste, Kieran thought to himself as he stood in front of Sorcha, raising the gun up and cocking it back.

Sorcha lifts her head, the haze clearing enough to find herself staring down the barrel of a gun. Sorcha's breath catches in her throat. This was it. She was going to die.

(Sorry if this is a little gruesome, XD. I thought I'd torture her a little, XD. Make Kieran seem even more unhinged and crazy)

{Don't worry about it! I'm the king of gruesome >:) I love all things Gorey (the horror kind, I promise I'm not a serial killer lmao) and stuff like that lol. Call me unhinged, but I find that stuff fun to write, not gonna lie...}

Before Kieran could fully cock his gun, there was a quiet click behind him. A shiver went up the older man's spine as several low growls resonated behind him too.
"You're gonna want to put the fucking gun down, you bloody bastard," Ajax said coldly, one hand aiming his gun at Kieran while the other held a warped crowbar. His face was contorted into a deep scowl, his eyes shining with a dark, almost bloodthirsty gleam. Titan, Hades, and Nyx were spread out behind him, lips drawn back in vicious snarls, teeth bared, and threatening growls coming from deep within their throats.
Not more than three minutes before, Ajax had arrived at Kieran's house. Not even parking the car he flew out of the car and followed Hades and Titan as they dashed toward the shed. The door, supposedly leading down into the basement area where Jamie - and now Sorcha - was/is being held was locked as he tried the door. Swearing under his breath, Ajax rammed his shoulder into the door a couple of times, no doubt bruising it with the force he was using, but the door didn't budge. He looked around for anything he could use to break the handle and the lock so he wouldn't have to use his gun to do so. He hadn't grabbed a silencer in his hurry and didn't want to risk the chance of Kieran killing Sorcha after hearing him. Finally, in the corner, he saw with the garden tools, a crooked, rusted crowbar.
Ajax grabbed it and just as he was about to bash the handle in, a scream rose from behind the door. Titan and Hades went ridged, starting to snarl, leaving no room to doubt that the scream belonged to his partner. Using the scream to his advantage, he drove the crowbar into the handle until the old wood caved in, both the lock and the handle falling a couple of stairs down with a clatter covered by the scream. He quickly ordered the dogs, "Do not attack. Wait." He ran down the stairs as quietly as he could, rounding the corner of the small hallway into a wide room, only to see the man, someone he hated more than anyone else, pointing a gun at Sorcha.
Sorcha didn't look all that well. She was slumped in the chair, her limbs restrained and tied to the chair at awkward angles that could not have been comfortable. Lines of red wove and crisscrossed up her arms, seemingly random little 'doodles' and symbols carved into her flesh. Blood was dripping onto the floor, forming constantly growing small puddles of blood around her. One of her knees was soaked in blood, and the fiery light that used to shine in her eyes had dimmed down to less than an ember, barely more than a snuffed-out cinder. She was staring down the barrel of the gun that Kieran held to her head almost apathetically.
"Well, if it isn't Scorcher! It's been a couple of years." Kieran snarked, not turning his head away from Sorcha. "How's that knife wound holding up for ya?"
Ajax's scowl deepened. It was Kieran who had given him the long, light pinkish-white scar that ran up his upper arm in a scuffle over illegally obtained weapons. It happened when he was still fairly new to the K9 units, only about two years into his career. It had healed long ago, and though Ajax never had to deal with Keiran again after that, as it was always someone else who got to him first, it was still there. The scar gave a little phantom ache as they spoke.
"It has been a while, but you can't seem to keep out of trouble, could you? Kidnapping a 14-year-old girl, whom you were planning to kill, and then torturing a law enforcement officer? Two counts of attempted first-degree homicide, kidnapping, assault, battery, involved in unlawful activity with Jamie's father... the outcome's not looking too pretty for you."
"Oh yeah? Well, it's a pity that you're not going to bring me in. If I shoot her, you'll kill me. Not necessarily a win-win in my opinion, but better than letting her go and still having to face all of that."
"Who said I would kill you?" Ajax's voice took on a sickeningly gleeful tone. "I have three strong, smart, and deadly dogs behind me, two of which want to tear your throat out because you've harmed their handler. You remember how it feels to have one of our dogs get their teeth in you, yeah?" This time, there was a slight tremor in Kieran's body, no doubt remembering how his old canine partner had managed to lock his jaws around Kieran's arm at the end of the fight years ago, badly damaging it. Kieran managed to get away, but the scar of it would stay as a reminder to him, just like his would.
"I'll only say this once more. Drop the gun, turn around, and put your bloody hands up. I don't care how you end up, so the choice is yours."

(Awesome, XD, and don't worry. I'm the same way. I also kinda enjoy torturing my characters a little, gives them more personality. LMAO)

Relief floods through Sorcha as she hears the sound of another gun, and then the sound of growls. Two of the three growls were familiar and as Sorcha turns her hazy vision behind Kieran, she spots a tall figure that could only be Ajax Scorcher and three shapes of German Shepherd dogs that had to be Hades, Nyx, and Titan. She couldn't make out the features, her vision was too hazy, too black. But, she knew them to be Ajax, Nyx, Hades, and Titan. Who else could have stopped Kieran from shooting her in the head?

Thankfully, Ajax spoke, confirming Sorcha's assumptions. And he sounded pissed. Sorcha laughs to herself, Kieran was screwed. Although Sorcha was not out of danger yet, Kieran still had the gun pointed at her and could still kill her. He may die in the process, but he still would have shot her. Sorcha wasn't ready to die, not so close to freedom. Sorcha focuses, willing her vision to come back a little clearer, but it wouldn't. Her vision remained blurry and black-ish. Kieran was the closest, which meant she could still see him pretty well. But, everyone else was a blurry figure.

But, she did have a chance to fight for her escape, with Kieran's attention on Ajax and the K9's. The K9's who were being very impatient. Specifically Titan and Hades, who wouldn't quit snarling. They really wanted to pounce, attack this man who had no doubt hurt their handler. They could smell the blood that layered the air, the blood that belonged to Sorcha. That made the K9's blood boil and it was only because Sorcha hadn't given the order to attack, that the two K9's hadn't moved. They also sensed the danger of the object that Kieran held in his hand.

Sorcha sits quietly, listening to the two's conversation. The two apparently knew each other. Sounded like Kieran had attacked Ajax years ago in a scuffle. And Ajax clearly wasn't a big fan of Kieran, his response and tone making that clear. Stating the charges that would land Kieran back in prison if he made it out of this situation alive. However, that didn't seem to bother Kieran who simply fired back. "Oh yeah? Well, it's a pity that you're not going to bring me in. If I shoot her, you'll kill me. Not necessarily a win-win in my opinion, but better than letting her go and still having to face all of that."

Sorcha shivers at that, Kieran seemed ready to take her life and then his own without any hesitation. Well, maybe there was a little hesitation, considering she was still alive and the conversation was still going on. Almost as soon as Ajax finished his sentence about the K9's, Titan and Hades took a step forward, their teeth bared and their eyes gleaming with hatred. The two muscled dogs were tense, ready to move at any moment. Their ears were pinned back in a threatening manner. Any moment, the two were ready to tear Kieran's throat out. Anything to get the man away from Sorcha, who life's was still bleeding out.

The officer had no idea how much blood she had lost and no idea how much more she was losing. But her vision was getting worse and worse, and she knew that if they didn't hurry this up. She was going to die on this chair from blood loss. "I'll only say this once more. Drop the gun, turn around, and put your bloody hands up. I don't care how you end up, so the choice is yours."

Kieran hesitates, he had a lot at stake. This stunt would no doubt land him in prison for a long time, possibly even for life. On top of all the charges that Ajax had named, he had assaulted a law enforcement officer. The department would push hard for a harsh punishment and judges and juries didn't take kindly to assault to law enforcement officers. While Kieran hesitated, his head turning towards Ajax briefly, which caused the hand with the gun to falter for just a moment.

That's when Sorcha decided to act. Her right hand came up, which she had barely managed to free. The rope that had bound her to the chair was still attached, digging in painfully to the wounds that had been inflicted. And the arm of the chair was still attached to. Sorcha had barely had any strength to rip the arm off, especially carefully so Kieran wouldn't know. Kieran's head whips around sharply as he feels the gun get yanked from his hand. Sorcha's hand gives out and she almost drops the gun, but she manages to grasp on tighter and flip it around so the gun pointed back at Kieran.

A spark of fire had returned to the injuried officer as she sneers at Kieran, who lunges at Sorcha. That's when hell broke loose. Sorcha pulls the trigger and Titan and Hades launch themselves forward. Kieran's eyes go wide as the bullet hits him in the chest, but his momentum carried him forward and Sorcha braces herself to get knocked over. But suddenly two K9's slam into Kieran's dying body, shoving him away from Sorcha. Kieran's body hit the ground with a loud thud as Titan and Hades raise hell on the man. The fire that had appeared in Sorcha's eyes, starts to fade again and the gun clatters out of her hands.

"Rot ann an ifrinn."

She whispers as she stares at Kieran's body, her eyes flickering close as her body finally gives out.

(Rot ann an ifrinn = Rot in hell)

(Heh heh, yeah >:) Trauma to the characters!)
-
Ajax stared down at the man, his hand steady as he continued to aim his gun at him. Kieran was hesitating. That could either be very, very good, or very very bad. A cornered animal was always the most dangerous. Titan and Hades were snapping their jaws, their tense muscles flexing underneath their sleek, ebony coats.
Ajax took another quick look at his partner. Sorcha's head was still hung slightly, but her eyes were shifting up toward Kieran and the others, struggling to focus. The puddle of blood continued to grow underneath her, staining the wooden legs a deeper color. The air was stifling, filled with the tingy, metallic scent of blood. Ajax's nerves were fringed. His partner was bleeding out in front of him, the guy he hated was responsible, and three dogs were snarling behind him, barely being held back.
Kieran's head tilted toward him, eyes narrowed and sweat trickled down the side of his face. The gun quivered in his hand and in that moment, Sorcha lunged forward and wrapped her arm around the gun, jerking it from Kieran's grasp. Kieran whipped his head around, his eyes widening. He opened his mouth to yell something, but suddenly a shot was fired, and Kieran's body jerked backward, red blossoming at the front of his shirt, seeping into the light fabric and spreading like a wildfire. Titan and Hades lunged forward, bowling the older man over and tearing into him with fang and claw, being very vocal while doing so. Nyx darted forward, but instead of diving into the bloodied mess with the other two dogs, she was at Sorcha's side, gazing up at the woman with her glinting green eyes. His partner muttered something in a foreign language, and then her eyes flickered close. Her body swayed to the side before her legs completely gave out. Her body would've crashed into the cold, hard ground if it wasn't for Nyx, who took the brunt of the fall. Nyx wriggled out from underneath Sorcha, letting out a whine as she began to sniff Sorcha's face. The ebony hound then went to her arms and began to knaw at the ropes still tied around them.
Ajax lunged forward, dropping the crowbar and shoving the gun back in its holster, a string of curses - both American and English - flying out of his mouth as his eyes flew over Sorcha's body, taking in her situation. Panicking and thinking fast, Ajax shrugged off his protective vest and tore several thick strips of fabric from the bottom of his undershirt. It may not have been sterilized, but it would be better than letting Sorcha bleed out. He ignored the wet crunching and ripping sounds of flesh and bone, focusing on wrapping Sorcha's wounds as tightly as he could. Finally, he snapped at the dogs, "Titan, Hades, here!" As much as he didn't care what happened to Kieran's body, as he knew he was going to die the moment Sorcha shot him in the chest, the other law enforcement officers, as well as the medical examiner and everyone else that would be involved in the case when they brought the body in.
He took a glance as he gathered Sorcha in his arms, being careful not to pull at any of her wounds, which was a hard thing to do since she seemed to be injured everywhere. The majority of injuries and tears in the criminal's body were mainly in the arms and torso area, meaning that Kieran's face was mostly untouched. They would have no issue identifying him.
Sirens sounded from outside, and a voice shouted through a megaphone. "This is the Fallen Hills Police Department. You are surrounded! Come out with your hands above your head!"
Ajax clicked his tongue, making Nyx slide into place next to him, her fur bushed up. Hades and Titan were behind him, following their handler, now completely ignoring the body behind them.
Ajax slowly ascended the stairs, carefully moving. When he approached the door to the shed, he could see the searchlights shining at the shed, the bright white light slinking underneath and through the cracks and holes in the doors. "This is Officer Ajax Scorcher! The suspect is still in the basement, detected! I have an injured officer with me who needs immediate medical attention! I'm coming out!" He pushed the door open with his foot, stepping out into the biting winter wind.
Several other officers rushed past him with guns drawn, entering the shed and going down the stairs. One guided him to the ambulance that was there, explaining that the girl had told them that there would be serious injuries when dealing with that man. Ajax just nodded grimly, setting Sorcha down gently on a stretcher. EMTs immediately got to work, and Ajax had to stop Titan and Hades from jumping into the ambulance as Sorcha was loaded up.
"We'll follow you." He said to the EMT, hurrying to another police cruiser and asking him to take them to the hospital and to follow the ambulance. The officer agreed too, but was reluctant, as he realized that blood had sprayed on him when Sorcha shot Kieran, and all three dogs had some blood on them.
The dogs piled in the backseat as he sat in the front with the officer, quickly following the ambulance as it began its journey to the hospital. Ajax just hoped that he wasn't too late.
