He was surprised that Samara bought the lie. He was sure other soldiers were supposed to know when another was lying. Perhaps, she didn't have to energy to try to guess if he was lying or not. Either way, he'd take it as a win. The only thing that interested him was Elvis Presley and that was just because it was not Nickelback. He wasn't really that huge of a fan of any of the artists that was given. He just knew that reaching a radio station in this weather would be nearly impossible. "Something tells me they're Americans trying to fit in with Canadians. I mean, only an American would have a music selection like this," He shook his head but then realized there was an American in the room,"Whoops sorry, no offense I mean." He watched as she picked up the Elvis Presley CD. At least it was Elvis Presley and not Avril Lavigne. The CDs were old CDs and he would rather not listen to a girl make punk rock songs out of past breakups or hear about her sing depressing songs while they were stuck in a blizzard. "Sure, anything is better than listening to that wind," He took the CD out of Samara's hands and popped it into the radio. He turned the radio on and turned it up to a reasonable volume. It had been turned down all the way.

Samara shook her head, "None taken. I typically stick closer to the older sides of country or rock and roll." She'd listen to a bit of Hank Williams or David Allen Coe, but hardly never any of the others that he'd read off in the list of CD's. As he popped the CD in, Elvis' voice came flooding through playing Hound Dog, which was one of her more favorite songs.
"You ain't nothing but a hound dog, crying all the time.." Samara stepped away from the radio, twirling towards the middle of the floor slowly. She remembered when she was small she'd dance in the living room with her dad, just having fun and making memories. She imagined he was the reason she loved to dance and sing as much as she did. "Do you dance or anything? Or are you more of a sidelines listener?" She asked as she looked back towards him. She liked how lively music could make things if you were listening to the right song. It was probably why she spent so much time at parties when she wasn't on duty or busy.

Fabian watched Samara as she twirled in the room, he couldn't help but smile. He didn't care for music all too much. Well it wasn't that he didn't care, he just hadn't had much time for listening to music or dancing. He watched as she twirled to the middle of the room, staying put and watching with curious eyes. He wondered if she was much of a singer or dancer. If she was, then this night was about to be interesting. "Do you dance or anything? Or are you more of a sidelines listener?" He didnt know the answer to that, embarrassingly enough. But he did want to have a little fun, to have the same energy as her. It made the time go faster, doing productive things and having a bit of fun. He might as well since they were going to be here a while. "Take my hand and find out," He smirked and outstretched his hand for her. He was a bit nervous about this. He hadn't danced in front or with anyone at all. Not even his dad. He had never done anything like this. But...he wasn't going to spend their time here regretting he did. Edited at November 14, 2022 06:57 PM by Ashes of Night

Samara always loved to dance. She had done so many different types, though the most refined was ballet and her most favorite had been swing. She hadn't done anything extreme in a good while though. She'd been too busy with the ongoing war, but she didn't see any issue with having a bit of fun to pass the time.
Samara didn't think that he'd bite when she asked if he danced or anything. A lot of the soldiers she knew wouldn't ever dare try to dance with her, so she was honestly surprised at the fact that Fabian told her to take his hand and find out. She wasn't going to back away from that offer, so she sauntered towards him and took his out stretched hand. "Show me whatcha got baby," she giggled and drew in closer to him. Not to mention, dancing would really get their blood flowing. Samara wasn't really cold anymore, but she didn't want to be as cold as she had been before. The night was bound to be long, but dancing would at least take a good chunk out of the night.

Fabian surprised himself in saying yes. He wasn't sure if he knew how to dance with somebody. He remembered learning how to partner dance in high school though. He felt his hand be taken and she guided him into the middle of the room. "Show me watcha got baby," She giggled as she drew closer. He let her draw closer and gently pulled her even closer so their oldies were touching. He didn't remember if he was doing that but to parter dance, having less space was preferred. He didn't want to admit that he didn't know what he was doing, especially since he came off a little arrogant and playful. He just began dancing with hr, moving to the beat and making sure to not hesitate for a moment. He hoped he was doing everything okay.

Samara gasped softly as he pulled her even closer so that they were touching. She relaxed in his arms and let him lead her in the dance. He actually did quite good and she wouldn't have known he didn't know what he was doing. "You're actually pretty good at this," she said as she looked up at him with a smile. She was telling the truth and was just happy to have someone to dance with. Dancing alone was never fun, which was probably why she preferred the upbeat fun of swing dance, which was full of twirling and dancing.
Soon, that song went off and the slow, soft sound of a new one came on. It was a classic lovely song of Elvis'. The lyrics flowed from the radio as Samara slowed down with him to match the pace of the song. "Wise men say, only fools rush in... But I can't help, falling in love with you.." Samara hummed the song softly as she leaned her head against his shoulder. While she did love upbeat songs, a good old fashioned slow dance never hurt anyone. "Shall I stay? Would it be a sin, if I can't help falling in love with you.." It was a nice relaxing change and the slow sway of the dance had almost put Samara in a peaceful state of mind. She peeked up at Fabian, wondering if he was actually enjoying dancing as much as she was.

"You're actually pretty good at this." He heard her comment and gave a small smirk, taking up a little bit of arrogance,"Of course I am, honey." He teased, spinning her and then bringing her back close to his body. The song switched to a different one that was more equipped for slow dancing so he slowed down the pace, paying attention to the beats. He did know both songs, Elvis had very popular music. Especially these two songs. He just hadn't heard them for quite a while. He slowed down and tugged her a bit closer, slipping his arms around her waist. He pulled her in and held her close. He made sure to keep his hands from dipping too low, making sure that every touch he made was appropriate and respectful. He heard her humming and smiled as she moved her head against his shoulder. He felt her breath on his neck and continued to sway to the beat. Dancing with Samara was fun, he couldn't remember the last time he had this much fun. He felt her head shift and looked down to see Samara studying him. He gave a smile and moved one of his hands to tuck a strand of lose hair from her face. "Hi," He whispered to her as he did so.

His spin had caught her by surprise, causing her to squeal gleefully. However, the slow change of pace was so nice. She hadn't been in that peaceful of a state of mind in a good while. She didn't think she'd reach it, especially in such a foreign place, but someone there with him, in an abandoned cabin in the middle of a snow storm, she found her peace.
Samara was glad he was keeping his hands in respectful places and it made things even better and somehow slightly more intimate. Of course she didn't mean that in a sexual way, but it was a very close and personal moment. A dance like that wasn't something she shared with just anyone, but it had felt right then.
Samara continued swaying with him as she looked up at him and smiled back when he did. She had a hand at the back of his neck, drawing gentle circles absentmindedly. A bit of blush returned to her cheeks as he brushed hair from her face. "Hi.." she said softly, her gaze never leaving his.

As the music changed, so did their dancing. Somehow their dancing turned more intimate and Fabian was surprised to find himself enjoying it. He hadn't expected to enjoy something like this, he hadn't done anything like this with anyone. Truth be told, he hadn't even held hands with someone of the opposite sex before. Relationships was something that he hadn't really experienced in his life. He joined the military at a young age and took his work very seriously. But being here, right now, with Samara was starting feel different. He was happy and enjoying the closeness and warmth their bodies Close together. Everything about this felt nice and right in every way. For a moment, Fabian forgot he was dancing with the enemy. Right now, he could forget about everything as stay like this forever. The feeing of her fingertips against his neck sent a rise of goosebumps to it. He couldn't help but blush at how nice it felt, her soft fingers against his skin. He couldn't help but notice the slightest tint of pink to her cheeks. "Are you feeling okay? You look a little flushed," He decided to tease back, recalling earlier when she asked him the same question. He even mimicked the gesture and ran his thumb against her cheek.

Relationships for Samara never lasted long or even went well. She'd been in the military from the moment she turned 18, and a lot of the men were dogs on her base. They'd jump at any chance with a woman, and Samara was looking for something more real with any emotion other than wanton lust. With Fabian then it did feel like more. He had made her more than aware that sex wasn't anywhere near on his mind. It's not that it had been on hers, it just felt good to not be wanted in that way.
Samara blushed even more as he pointed out how flushed she was in a way of teasing her back. "Would it be such a shame to admit you've got me flustered?" She asked quietly, smiling as he ran his thumb against her cheek. Samara hadn't been one to get worked up so easily, but she had to be honest in saying that Fabian had gotten her that way. His touch was just so tender and thoughtful and he came from a place of good will. Since she'd became unarmed he showed her nothing but kindness and it was the pure unforced kind.
