Fabian was a little bit proud of himself for that moment. She looked rather ridiculous with tape on her nose. He couldn't help but laugh at Samara's response to him smirking at her. It was something to be proud about, that's for sure. He moved to get his stuff ready to move across the house. Blocking the wind would probably make things warm up faster. He didn't want to admit it but he was a bit cold as well. "Hey, Samara, you might want to find a tissue while you are at it. I think I saw some boogers up in there," He teased her and ran to the other end of the cabin to start sealing things up. Most of the windows in the house was low windows which unfortunately increased the likelihood that they would be snowed in here. He sure hoped not. While he worked, he tried to get ahold of base again. This time he got absolutely nothing. Just static. Cursing, he moved on sealing up the rest of the house and then returning back to the living room. He waited for Samara, kneeling down next to the fire with his back turned.

Samara gasped, covering her nose for a moment before hollering after him, "Oo, you better run!" She giggled to herself before going to continue putting up the trash bags. Thankfully, she was able to find a tissue, and to her horror, he wasn't exactly wrong. Then again, the cold weather didn't help anything up there. She hurried and finished up with her windows before heading back to the living room.
The fact that the majority of the windows were already beginning to get blocked, she doubted they'd be leaving any time soon. After all, if he was unable to get a hold of base, they would most definitely end up being snowed in with a high possibility of no one finding them.
Samara saw him next to the fire and she went over that way. Her steps were nearly silent from her relentless training as a spy. Perhaps then would be a wonderful time to sneak up and get revenge? Then again, scaring another trained soldier could result in a bit of a mess. Samara crept behind him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders from behind. "Did you miss me?" She said with a joking tone as she had touched him. His reaction could go either bad or just as playfully. She just hoped he wasn't too jumpy of a person.

He wasn't getting any response from his base which was irritating him. His radio had more of a likelihood reaching base than Samara's did. Nonetheless, each time he tried, he reached nothing but static. It was rather annoying that his General even sent him out in this weather but out alone was even worse. His mind began pondering on reasons why the General did do such a thing. Nobody else's liked the cold even better than he did. Normally border patrols were done in groups but yet...here he was. It made his brain hurt a little trying to think logically why it was only him in this mess. He was so lost in thought that he didn't hear anyone approach him. He was minding his own business when all of a sudden arms wrapped around him. His body went rigid, all except for his arms and hands. One hand went for his gun while the other went to jab his elbow into the source of the arms around him. "Did you miss me?"
He heard Samara's voice but it was too late. He barely had time to soften the blow before his elbow made contact with her side. He forced himself to relax against her arms, shaking his head and cursing up a fair storm. "Fucking hell, Samara!" He exclaimed in between curses. His heart was beating a little faster now,"Don't you know any better than to sneak up on an armed soldier?" Edited at November 14, 2022 03:08 PM by Ashes of Night

Samara hadn't realized he was as lost in thought as he was. Of course, she should have known minor violence would ensue as she felt his elbow make contact with her side. A yelp left her lips as she winced and leaned on him for a moment as she caught the wind that left her lungs when he hit her. She definitely hadn't expected him to react as he had, but she really couldn't blame him either.
"Good lord I didn't expect that.. I suppose I didn't really think it through all the way," she said as she let go of him and slid onto the floor next to him, rubbing her side gently. "I guess I'm just getting a bit too comfortable," Her face was tinged with rosy blush as she realized how bad that could have gone, even though it was very unlikely anyone else would be getting into the cabin. Samara truly had found herself getting comfortable being around Fabian, but she had to remind herself that he is the enemy. Then again, things could go a better way if she could get him to trust her. She bit her lip slightly before deciding to crack a final joke, "I did get you pretty good though.. You were just distracted prior."

He hadn't meant to hit her...if he had known it was her. He heard the yelp and her weight fall heavily against his back. He just sat there, feeling awful for the blow but then again realizing it could have been worse. He was trained to hit or fire and ask questions later. Even though he had softened the blow, he was pretty sure it still didn't feel the greatest. He was told that he had a strong arm. "Good lord I didn't expect that...I suppose I didn't really think it through all the way..." Her voice drifted to the side of him and her weight lifted off his back. He glanced at her, his gaze studying her expression. She was rubbing her side, exactly where he had accidentally hit her. She made a comment about getting too comfortable and when she did, her cheeks turned red. Was she blushing? What did she mean by 'getting too comfortable'? He didn't have long to think about this until her lips lifted into a slight smile and she cracked another joke about him being distracted He gave a small grunt in response, shaking his head. This woman was always cracking jokes, it seemed like. There wasn't nothing wrong with cracking jokes. He just couldn't figure out how she could still be cracking them while clenching her side that he struck her with. "Whatever," He muttered, looking away briefly. After a few moments, He scooted closer to her. His gaze remaining serious as his hand finally slipped off his gun and moved to rest on hers that were clenching her side. He was close enough now that their thighs were practically touching,"In all seriousness, are you okay? I didn't mean to do that. Well, I did...just not to you." A lot of the times Samara used jokes as a way to move away from being embarrassed, nervous, or scared. She didn't do well in tense situations, which caused her to talk as much as she did most of the time. She had began letting herself get friendly with this soldier, and when she was friendly with someone she was more playful and his blow seemed to bring her back down a little to how serious their situation was.
Samara watched as he moved closer to her, making her wonder what he was about to do. She tensed up at first, but managed to relax when she realized he was coming from a good place. She leaned gently into his touch and nodded. "I promise I'll be fine. Nothing cracked, just bruised most likely," she smiled slightly before continuing, "I earned it if we're being honest. I tend to play too much and it's not the first time I've managed to get my self hurt."
It was true, Samara had actually ended up with worse injuries than he had left her with. She wouldn't hold a grudge over something she'd caused anyways. He was only doing what he was taught to do, which in any sense was protect himself. She couldn't say she would have reacted any differently if it had been him sneaking up onto her.

He didn't want this American soldier to be hurt, if he was being honest. He hadn't meant to hit her either. In one side of the argument, he wanted to blame her but on the other, he knew it was his fault as well. He shouldn't have let himself get so distracted or aimed first to hit. He should have figured that it was just Samara, no one else could get into this house. He felt her tense at his touch and was about to pull his hand back when she relaxed and leaned into it. He gave a small smile as she did relax. At least she wasn't mad at him for hitting her. He wouldn't purposely try to hit anyone. "Hey at least one of us has to keep a light spirit," He nudged her with his shoulder. He folded his fingers into the spaces in between hers and gently moved her hand away from her side. He give her hand a light squeeze, eyeing her fingertips. It looked like her hands were going to be okay, she snuck in here around the perfect time. "Either way, I'm glad you're okay," He blushed at his nice words, looking away and resting both of their hands on his thigh. He didn't understand why something like that would make him blush but it did.

Samara giggled as he nudged her, "I do try my best. I love for things to be happier and playful if they can be." She did know when not to play though as there were some situations that jokes and pranks were uncalled for. She allowed him to look at her hands, not minding his touch. She finally had all her feeling and normal color back, which was really relieving. She would have hated to develop frost bite or hypothermia.
Samara looked at their hands that rested on his thigh at that point, smiling at his words. She looked up to respond and noticed the fact he seemed to be blushing. "Me too," she said before raising her other hands to gently brush his cheek, "Your cheeks are quite flushed.. Are you alright?" She tilted her head to the side, wondering how he'd respond.
She wasn't sure that it him blushing, but if it wasn't it could mean that he'd been too close to the fire for too long. Then again, it was almost too cold to stray too far from the fire for too long. The wind was still howling outside and though she couldn't see the snow, she could only imagine how bad it was out there.

Fabian couldn't believe that he was stuck in a cabin making conversation with the enemy...and he wasn't minding it either. It was strange but true. He didn't mind having the company as he waited out the storm. He did wonder how long it was going to be until they could leave and get back to base. He felt a hand brush his cheek and turned his attention to the woman. Of course that was pointless because as soon as she mentioned his flushed face, it deepened a redder shade and his face turned back away from her. He made sure to focus on anything else to hide it from the woman. What was he doing? What was he thinking?
"Oh yeah...I'm just now warming up. I have a natural red tint," He lied, trying to cover up the blush and calm down. Once he had calmed down, he let go of her hand and stood up, spotting a radio by a CD stand. "Well it's not a tv but I'll take it," He changed the topic, gesturing toward the radio and making his way to it,"Let's see if there's anything good. "Nickelback....Nickelback....Nickelback..." He shuffled through the CDs,"Oooo Elivis Presley...more Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, Bon Jovi, Beethoven???" Okay so this music silection wasn't the greatest. Who the hell listened to Nickelback that religiously?

Samara nodded slightly before looking at the fire, "I know you're more used to the cold, I just know getting sick without the proper access to medicine wouldn't be too good." Living in the cold, he likely wouldn't be as likely to get sick as she would be. She let her hand drop and decided not to press the fact anymore.
As he let go of her hand, Samara stood up and stretched. She was honestly exhausted but she worried too much to even be sleepy at the time being. "I do love music," she said as she looked at the radio. The selection was not the best, but there were two that caught her attention. "Elvis Presley is my man," she said with a little laugh. "Avril Lavigne isn't too bad either." She could jam out at times, but Elvis Presley could truly get her going. She wasn't the best singer, but she liked to try and dance along with it.
Samara walked closer to the radio and shook her head at all the Nickleback. "That's a lot of Nickleback, even for me," she said as she picked up the Elvis Presley CD. "How about we listen to the King for a little while?" She said with a grin. It was probably gonna be their best bet as it had sounded as though he was interested in Elvis as well.
