"Of course. If Mae tries to kill Lari or Tari, then she'll be in big trouble." Tokala said grimly. Tokala walked to the ruins of her home and sniffed a scent trail. Mae's. Tokala followed the scent trail to a human place with foxes in cages. What were they in the cages for? Tokala knew what to do. Or at least, she had a plan. Find the human thingy to unlock the cages. She knew what it looked like, just not what it was called. She slinked behind a tree, and climbed on top of it. Tokala stared at Smokey at the base of the tree. "Smokey, can you create a distraction?" She asked. Edited at September 1, 2025 08:28 PM by Wraith Claw

Smoky said " i was born to distract " as he runs into the camp and knocks over a bucket as he makes fox noises and runs around making sure humans won't grab him or anything

(Ah! Sorry I've been busy) Tokala silently snuck to the human with the thingy that could open cages. Listening to their conversations, she learned it was called a "key". She snatched the key and dashed off, while leaping to each cage and using the key to open the cages. The foxes were free! Tokala felt proud. She and Smokey made an awesome team.

Tokala heard Smoky growl. But from where? She couldn't tell. She panicked. She couldn't give up on him. Especially from what both of them had gone through. She turned to an uncaged fox. "Help! We need to save Smoky!" Tokala yipped desperately. The fox helped her find the stupid human, and quickly hid in fear. I couldn't understand the human at first. But then I understood. "Stupid vermin better crawl in the cage, I just need to make her understand that the other little fox will die if she doesn't." The human said. Tokala observed how the humans mouth and tongue made specific shapes. And she copied them. "Not vermin. Let fox go. No kill." She told the human. The human was so startled, it gasped. Then it grabbed me with it's grubby hands and grinned with it's strange, flat teeth. Why weren't they sharp? That was a question for later. She and Smoky had to figure a way out

Tokala strungled under the human's grip. She suddenly remembered what her sister had told her. Humans were ticklish everywhere. "Thanks, Lani." I whispered silently, then I began tickling the human. The human shrieked, and then ran off, terrified. Just then, another human walked forward, it's terrifying hands reaching to grab Tokala and Smoky. Edited at September 11, 2025 12:27 AM by Wraith Claw
