Gus watched Apollow for a minute, eyes flicking back and forth between his friend's eyes. He squinted to see Apollow a bit better in the dim light, but gave up, letting it be. "Just whatever you're thinking right now. Just, like, I don't know, blurt it out? Like, first thing that comes to mind, and just say it. We can go back and forth." Gus nodded, proud of his own idea. He wanted so badly to know what Apollow was thinking then.

He looked around and began picking at the grass. "Well, right now I'm thinking about how cows get any nutrients from this. And now that I think about that I think about milk, then chocolate milk." Apollows mind happened to wander strangley off topic at times. "And now, I've realized I got super off topic, I tend to do that often." He looked up at Gus, his vision was bad usually, but was even worse now as it was dark. "You're just a blur to me right now, I can't see a thing" he laughed a little and brought his knees up to his chest.

Gus laughed a bit about Apollow's bringing up of the topic of milk. "Theres no need to be worried about going off-topic. Its interesting when that happens. Means your brain doesn't stop working." When Apollow explained that Gus was just a blur, he moved himself forward a bit, closer to Apollow. "Can you see me better now?" He asked, eyes trained on the boy in front of him.

Apollow was slightly startled when Gus moved closer, "yeah now I can see you better, my brain doesn't ever stop working, I'm constantly thinking of something " he brushed through his hair with a hand and continued gazing around, hoping to avoid eye contact. "You want to know something?" He paused and began messing a section of his hair that was in front of his face.

Gus noticed Apollow's eyes wandering, so he looked away, trying to make sure Apollow was comfortable. He nodded slightly after the question was asked, but then remembered what Apollow had said about not being able to see him well. Even though he had moved closer, he still said, "Of course," just in case Apollow still couldn't see him well. "I did ask for your thoughts, did I not?"

He laughed at recalling this particular memory and habit of his. "Back when I was little I used to sneak into my older sisters room when I couldn't sleep," he looked at gus now, and made eye contact " I'd bring my pillows and blankets and pile them on the floor next to her bed. She always slept with one hand off the bed, so I'd hold it while I fell asleep," he began to talk with hands, "just so I knew she was there, I'd hardly ever sleep in my own room after I figured that out." He giggled at the story "it was difficult when she moved out for college, I didn't sleep for weeks on end because my brother kept his door locked and my parents had a no children policy for their room"

Gus winced, the story was very saddening. "That's sad, but sweet at the same time. I guess it would be difficult if that's what you're used to. My siblings never really needed anything like that, just to know I was there as well. I guess we don't have separate rooms though, so it's a bit easier." He thought for a slight moment, eyes drifting to Apollow's hand. Maybe... he thought but didn't finish it. "Do you still keep in touch with your sister?"

"Not as much as I'd like, I see her when I visit for the holidays, because she visits too, but other than that all my texts get left on read." He trailed off a bit. "She must be busy" he told himself that so he wouldn't think he was being ignored. " sometimes I think it'd be fun to share a room with my siblings, I was pretty independent as a kid, entertaining myself while mother was at work." He began, before stopping himself. "Your turn," he realized he had been draggin on and on, and he wanted to hear about Gus too.

Gus groaned, realizing that, yes, he had to share something about what he was thinking. He yawned again, running a hand through his hair and then down to the back of his neck. "Jesus, okay." He thought for a bit, deciding which thought to tell Apollow. "Well, when you were telling the story, I did think about holding your hand," Gus said quickly, trying to laugh it off. Maybe Apollow wouldn't hear him or maybe he imagined saying it. He was, after all, very tired, and it was getting late, but he forced himself to stay awake.

Apollow went quiet, he'd never expected that thought to be said. "Oh" he laughed a little "I guess I see how that would be a thought you had" he yawned and continued to think. "Well, if you want too, since I'm blind it seems," he held his hand out and smiled in Gus's general direction. Of course he couldn't tell if it was directly at him, he assumed Gus was directly beside him, but he could be wrong.
